Me again, need some help, please.

I guess I need to register my dog with the city or something. Does anyone know where I do this?

I asked a local, she said Poccistrasse. I went to Poccistrassse and they said Wilelmstr. 11 in Sendlinger Tor. I did a quick check on Mapblast or something for Wilhelmstr. 11 and it shows this street up in the Schwabing. So now I am confused huh.gif

Has anyone else done this, and please where did you do it?

Dogs need to be registered at the 'Kassen- und Steueramt'. Address is: Herzog-Wilhelm-Str. 11, 80331 München, (near Sendlinger Tor). Tel. (089) 233-26297 or 20542.

More Info:
Stadtkämmerei Hundesteuer
(Couldn't find an English version).

Hope this helps. smile.gif

Thanks Angel biggrin.gif , that makes a lot more sense as it looks to be in Sendlinger Tor as the girl said. She just forgot to put the Herzog in when she gave me the adress.

Dogs need to be registered here??? Why?
Miata
If you speak german a littlebit, you can register by phone.

Dogs have to be registered because Munich wants the dog's owner to pay taxes for the dog...its around 75€.

Honestly?

Is there another reason? I don't think I would register my dog if I knew I had to pay(even more) taxes!!

Well, most places I know of want you to register your dog. You then put a little badge onto their collar so that if they are picked up by the pound, they know there is an owner. The service isn't free. Don't see what the difference really is.

Taxes to cover the cost of cleaning up the doggie doo doo that's left in the parks and streets??

I thought I heard (famous last words) that certain breeds are taxed more heavily than others (the "fighting" dog breeds).

A so-called Kampfhund will set you back 613,80 € tax a year. So yes they are a tiny little bit more expensive.

My woman is away, so I'm stuffed with having to deal with German things on my own at the moment.
On that note, does anyone know whats involved in registering a dog over here? I presume that a vets report with all the necessary jabs done is pretty much all that I'll need, but this is Germany after all. I could of course be a lazy so and so, and wait for her to get bakc, but shes got enough on her plate doing all my admin for me, without having to do my dogs too smile.gif

Just for info, if anyone is registering a dog in Garching, not Munich.
If you live out here, you can go here for the contact details of people at the Garching Rathaus. They have a person who deals with Hundesteuer. Dunno about Munich, but you get 3 months tax free if you want to register a dog in Garching, so there is no hurry when you first get a hound.
