Broken track between Rosenheimerplatz & Isartor

The S-Bahns are having problems this morning (I only had a 10-15 min delay) due to a Schienenbruch (a track broke) between Isartor and Rosenheimer Platz.
peterwallace
agh, so how do I apply for my money back on todays ticket ? They wasted at least 40 minutes of my life this morning mad.gif
UrbanAngel
You can't smile.gif
Jeeves
They got it fixed pretty quickly though. Only the S7 is still not running.
cinzia
If you were delayed more than 20 minutes, I think it is, you should be able to apply for a refund at an MVV Service Center, right? Like the ones at Hauptbahnhof or Marienplatz?

I would say it was MVV's fault if a track broke; that would be a maintenance problem. Unlike if a despairing person throws himself under a train.
Daisy
The U4 and U5 were delayed this morning as well for 20 minutes. But those don't go thru the Isartor Rosenheimer Platz area.

If you're talking about the MVG scheme, it only applies to the bus, U-Bahn and tram system, not the S-Bahn system. Believe me, I've had over an hour delay quite a few times due to the MVV's fault.
boomtown_rat
I'm glad you lot all take the MVV, leaves the roads nice and free for my car wink.gif
MonksTown
MVG (Munich bus, tram, U-Bahn) revealed stats the other month and they DO pay out €4.50 if your service is delay more than 15 minutes due to their fault.

The DB owned S-Bahn GmbH which is the other major transport operator does not offer this service.

"MVV" itself (although used as a general term) does not operate any transport or own any infrastructure.
It is simply a co-ordinated timetabling, ticketing and marketing organisation.
Darkknight
Ah.. So this would be the 3rd big delay in the last 5 days or so.. There getting more frequent.. And of course the MVV,MVG lovers on this board still wouldn't care and think they were the best thing since sliced bread.

In this case, had the tracks been inspected and repaired during their normal maint. chacks, this delay prob. wouldn't have happened.
(Maint. work is carried out after the Trains stop running, so not there wouldn't be any further delays because of the maintenance .)
MonksTown
A 10-15 minute delay is hardly "big" is it and the other majr dealy was completely out of their control and notified well so people could make other arrangements.

Thing is Darkknight when public transport DO make regular maintenance and replacement of the infrastructure like they are doing to the trams at Stachus right now you are the first person to throw a hissy fit!

Staying with the naking analogy, you seem to want your cake and eat it!

Did you ever get dumped by a tram driver or something cos it might explain your tick! tongue.gif

Apparently there was another Notartzteinsatz yesterday evening at Giesing. sad.gif

@MT
Regardless of the cause of the delay, it was still a delay...

Nope, never hooked up with a tram, bus, train driver.. Most are guys (I don't go that way) and most of the women look like frumpy old cows...
Topsy
well, I was driven to work this morning, and on the car radio there was a dirty great long list of traffic jams here there and everywhere that were causing hold-ups galore on the roads
these things happen from time to time with all methods of transport
planetmoni
a friend of mine is working for the S Bahn Zentrale, he is very nice guy.

as for delays, i agree with topsy.
gideon
what delay? i just spent 15 to 20 minutes extra doing some extra thinking on some analysis and stuff. glass half full.
MonksTown
What the edgy and vibrant laydeeee Topsy said, listen to the radio and they real of a list of mega traffic jams every fricking day!
Jeeves
Agree with Gideon. Or take something to read that you want to read anyway. Time not wasted and passes more quickly. Can't do that in a car. Or does nobody read anything actually printed on paper any more?
Darkknight
Paper!!!, They still print news on that stuff... biggrin.gif

The problem is when it's snowing and minus whatever and you're stood shivering for those 10-15 minutes at 7am on the platform.
gideon
UA it was niether both nor one of mius and shivering. if you were this morning, then you should also invest in some warm clothing.

my rules for public transport.

1. always dress for the weather.
2. always take something to read or do.
3. dont sit there and whinge. you cant change whats happening. you just annoy other professional passengers who have observed rules one and two.
4. dont argue to a member of staff with crap like "i should have been da de da di da twenty minutes ago". its a train, not a time machine. see rule three.
5. smile and retain your sense of humour.

Exactly. I had an excuse to do 45 minutes extra Kakuro this morning.
UrbanAngel
Gideon, I haven't complained in a single post (on this thread). I've stated fact (warning - SBahn delay) and have corrected Jeeves saying it's not only -in- the train that you're delayed, but also -waiting- for the train.

So please don't be so patronising.

In case you really want to know I was wearing for whatever reason - Lowa hiking boots, socks, trousers pants, bra, t-shirt, top, snowboarding jacket, scarf and gloves. In my bag I had - forms I had to read through, and a magazine. Edit: oh yes, I had my umbrella too for the snow.
UrbanAngel
@ER - haha you do those? I haven't progressed past Sudoku yet; Kakuro involves too much maths smile.gif Are they just as addictive?

UA read this in context of "the reading something", as in

the problem (with reading something) is when its snowing...

so please dont call me patronising thats rather insulting, i didnt call you an idiot did i?

Kakuro is the new Sudoku.

At least they are to me, I just found them this morning while waiting for my train. The math is just additive and they are even more addictive than sudoku. I'm having a hard time concentrating at work because I just want to get home and do more!
UrbanAngel
Then we misunderstood each other - I quoted Jeeves who was talking about how to pass the time to stop boredom (either do something constructive for work, or read a paper or whatever) and I said:

"The problem is when it's snowing and minus whatever and you're stood shivering for those 10-15 minutes at 7am on the platform."

Reading doesn't help in those cases. It's nice to sit in a comfy S-Bahn and read when you're stuck between 2 stops for 10 minutes, but it doesn't help when your S-Bahn arrives late and you're outside.

thats one of those questions with which you're not sure what a 'yes' or 'no' answer really means wink.gif Anyway, yes (or no), you can't beat a nice read of a proper newspaper with a cup of tea or coffee
Jeeves
UA Actually I was including waiting time. I use that for reading/thinking/dozing too. Gideon is right in that the right clothing for the temps might help. But I take the point that if there is no shelter and it's raining then reading is not quite so practical.

Mr Rat, both answers agree with my sentiment wink.gif
