Ok trying to get a poll of germany didnt quite work, however I thought it would be interesting to see what most people drink in munich. If I have forgotten any breweries then my sincere apologies. Andechs, Schneider and Erding are not brewed in munich, however I think they have enough connection with munich to be counted as such. Schneider was traditionally brewed in munich before moving up to kielheim (which is very close to Weltenburg). Anyway lets see if this works any better. (and yes I have beer and barbeques on my mind, and am waiting for the return of summer.)

none of these at the moment.

tegenseer helles and unertel weissbier.

augustiener edelstoff.

I could not agree more.

I'm a big tegenseer fan as well. It's what I keep in stock at home.

To be precise, Tegernseer isn't a munich beer... same as Unertl (or some others in the poll)... wink.gif

true...Andechs and Erding shouldn't be on there...

Jeez you guys take it easy on the fella. Well next time Ian make the polls similar to the ones we had in the gentlemens club with those photos. You know the run off ones over uhm... the human race finest. wink.gif

Well, this one I actually voted on...

...and neither Erding nor Andechs is too far out...just not really Munich. Might as well throw Ettal on there... tongue.gif

Ok so here is my list of excuses:

-Andechs has a wirtshaus at the base of the Frauen Kirche. And That in and of itself makes it close enough to be a munich brewery and yes I am aware its not brewed directly in the city centre. However I think there is enough historical connection for it to be lumped in as a Munich beer.

-erding is from erding. This is a fact. However I think it has so much presence within the city with sponserships and so forth combined with the availability, I felt i could lump it in as well.

-Schneider Weisse is a must. Yes I know the brewery is know in kielheim for finacial reasons. They have however a historical connection to Munich. They as well not only a very big presence in Munich, but they have a beer hall next to the Vitalia market. I felt justified lumping it in.

-Augustiner edelstoff was not singled out for specific mentioning because I was origonally making a post about breweries. Yes augustiner edolstoff is fantastic, however it is a helles. The difference between augustiner helles and augustiner edelstoff is the stammwuerze is higher than thirteen point something. The word edel means quality and by german law to attach this to a beer lable your stammwuerze has to be higher the thirteen point something. Augustiner edelstof however remains a helles.

I just went ahead and randomly voted for one. They all taste the same anyway. ph34r.gif

No one was asking for one, but accepted!

That's blasphemy!

Then you could also consider Becks a munich beer. They sponsor every bloody event in this town and are available everywhere.

No, they actually came from Kehlheim to Munich (OK, and moved back 1945 since their Munich-brewery was bombed), but yes Schneider Weisse is a Munich-beer, since the way it is brewed now, it first was done in Munich.

True, no need to list the "Edelstoff". I still prefer the "Helles" anyhow, "Edelstoff" is just too sweet...
