Says on a few websites that release date is tomorrow:

Any of the tekkies please confirm? Do we need a special dish? Will it be tricky to get the hardware moved across (e.g. is a phone connection needed etc etc).

No mad rush - but can I have mine fitted on Wednesday please Grinner :-)

Just I have wanted a SKY+ for some time but have been holding out for the HD version. Says you can run a 2nd TV from the same box but signal will be non-HD which sounds OK to me.

i have been reliably informed that Sky will control HDTV even tighter than Sky Multiroom. This means that in order to get a subsidised box you MUST keep it attached to a UK phone line. I am sure BavSat will be able to sell you a box which needn't be attached to a phone line, though, allbet at non-subsidised prices.

Speaking of such has anyone watched HDTV, is it as good as it says? Our TV is slowly dying and I need to think about buying one soon. Not that it matters but is HDTV available in Germany yet (ie German Television)

Andrew Sullivan had an interesting posting on it

I was a skeptic at first. We got the 46 inch LCD TV for Christmas but I was utterly indifferent to High Definition. It sounded like a snow-job to me. But Aaron insisted, so we got the new box and set up the new connection. Within seconds, I was hooked. Not since Gillette's Mach 3 and the iPod (and I add Sky Plus oh how I miss it)have I been as impressed with a new technology. You think it will look better - but not that much better. The best way I can express this is: It is as if they took the lens off the camera.

I heard of this but hadn't seen it in writing before

Problem fixed for $30: I discovered that all the local network stations broadcast a digital signal, some as many as three. So for a trip to RadioShack and $30 for a set of powered rabbit ears, you can get HD for free. That is, if you purchased a set that has a digital tuner. In fact, the picture -- and sound -- seem better than what my neighbor gets on cable.

BUNNY EARS that is like sooo 20 years ago, that has got to be so bizarre a bleeding edge TV with bunny ears biggrin.gif

I am using Kabel Deutschland for my cable. We only have CNN for English channel and am looking to get more channels and especially HDTV channels. Can someone tell me what I need to get? I noticed the last message on this topic was awhile ago. What do I buy with the cheapest method.

Your help is appreciated!

1. A SkyHD Box
2. A SkyHD Account and Access Card
3. A 80cm Dish Pointed South

When Going Sky or SkyHD, there is no such think as "Cheap".. Contact Bavaria Sat. For More Details.
