Sunday chill-out session @ Cafe Trachtenvogl

4pm Sunday 16.Apr.2006

After six weeks in Munich I've realised what this city is desperately missing ...

... a late afternoon chill-out session on Sundays.

I've been hoping someone else within Toytown would have the initiative to start this but no, it's down to me.

So, here's what I propose:

- meet around 4pm-ish on Sunday
- in a relaxed bar/cafe (more on this below)
- leisurely drinking, e.g. wine, not gallons and gallons of beer
- eating for those who need to
- er, that's it.

The bar dilemma

This is where it gets tricky.

The bar/cafe must be relaxed and quite spacious. Not too smoky or too noisy. With nice chairs, even sessels. And ideally not playing Bryan Friggin Adams (which the current bar in which I am sat is playing).

Now these criteria almost imply Lenbachs as the best site. But I've heard this place called pretentious wank by Toytowners. And that suggests they would play the sort of music I don't particularly like (see above).

So, if you're
  • interested
  • and, or know somewhere suitable
let me know.

I hope to kick something off next week, as it's a bank holiday and unless I have something to do I'll go completely hatstand.
Esme
Great idea. If Lenbach is a pretentious wank, the presence of several chilled-out TTers will surely make it less so! laugh.gif

Come play frisbee with us on Sundays at 2pm.
Ultimate Frisbee - Wednesdays & Sundays

We usually end up in a beer garden around 4pm for some very relaxed chilled-out beer drinking.

Right,

Some figures:
  • 182 people have viewed this thread so far
  • 1 has expressed interest
  • 1 has suggested that I throw frisbees instead
This isn't good enough.

I need more people expressing firm interest in this (without suggesting combining it with activities best left in the 70's).

Get typing people ...

I am just trying to type. laugh.gif

Well, I might join. Having a close tab on this. Was thinking of going to some laid back mountain or something movie as well this weekend.

I think I'll have a "chill out" session up at the castle here in Seefeld, too much work and stress in meeting with you somewhere downtown...besides, they have wine there, and I like castles.

Chill out with your knitting at Stitch and Bitch ...

Anyone interested in Brokeback mountain on sunday at 19.30 hrs?

Stop being a twat. There are probably good reasons why no-one has posted anything.

Maybe people were actually expecting a definitive suggestion from you (as the TT rule goes; post where and when and they will come) to start the ball rolling instead of you expecting other people to do the work for you. If you want the "chill-out session" get off your arse, quit moaning at people and bloody well organise it yourself.

If you expect suggestions from people don't criticise them when they actually make some, regardless of whether you personally find them appropriate.

rant over.

He might have been joking?! I find his style quite humorous, but perhaps that's just me then!

Anyway, I think the idea's great, especially if we find somewhere not too smoky. Unfortunately I don't know that many places here and nowhere appropriate springs to mind, but I'll post again if I have any ideas.

umm... yeah frisbee left in the 70's? (i take it you're referring to frisbee w/ that comment) umm... sure although ultimate was around then i don't think it was as popular as it is now. if it was why did it take until 2001 for it to become a medal sport in the world games?

oh poor you. no one wants to join you so just critize those that offer other suggestions.

Two cafe bars that are closest to your requirementsBoth are chilled, have sofas / lounge chairs, don't push gallons of beer, have fairly low smoke levels. Neither really focuses on music, but they do have quiet music on in the background.

Trachtenvogl is popular, so reserve or be prepared to wait a little till a sofa area becomes free.

Cheers to OG, I was just going to mention how chilled out all of this was starting to sound when that post came up. wink.gif

Will these places be open on Easter Sunday?
ThePosterWithNoName
Right. I'm glad this thread is getting interesting.

I fully respect the right of people to throw frisbees and admire their courage in openly admitting to such behaviour. And thank you MrBrain for inviting me.

However, it would be too energetic for me and probably not chilled out enough.

To Columbus (sorry if I'm getting names wrong): good idea about seeing a movie on Sunday, but unfortunately I never go to the cinema. Others may be interested.

To the Editor: thank you for those suggestions. I'll bare (or is it bear?) them in mind.

Being a retro-newbie (I was here years ago) I'm not familiar with current bars etc. But I'm going to the over 30's dinner tonight and will pick people's brains there.

Then I'll drop something in this forum tomorrow morning.

Stay chilled.

Oops! Looks like you have high temperature with Toytown fever.

Cool down mate. It could be nastier though. Now most of them are not online.

Enjoy your time and have fun. Viel spaß!

News about this meetup?
ThePosterWithNoName
Bloody hell. I've made a decision.

Trachtenvogl Cafe, Reichenbachstrasse 47, it's between Gärtnerstraße and Frauenhoferstraße and the nearest underground station is ... Frauenhoferstraße, on the U1, U2.

They are open today.

I'll be there from 4pm.

All welcome to come along, if you don't know me look for the bloke with the umbrella and the green wax jacket.
