Non-German babysitters and work permits

Is a permit required to babysit in Germany?

So I want to start babysitting and have had a few people contact me, and my boyfriend seems to think that if I took on a job as a regular babysitter (everyday) it would be illegal since I don't have a work permit and if someone found out I can get introuble/deported. Anyone have any experience with this?
boomtown_rat
in theory I should think its illegal* (if you get paid for it), in practice probably nobody cares

* although I actually don't know for sure
erdbeere
Yea I guess it could be 'illegal' but would anyone seriously make a big deal out of it? And could I actually be deported for babysitting without a permit? seems a bit extreme to me. I wouldn't worry about it if it was just for occasional babysitting but since it would be regular some old german busy-bodies might start questioning me. (actually I'm not too concerned cuz I think its lame, but my bf is worried so...)

if you and they don't admit to paying you for your services don't worry about it.

yep keep stumm. name rank and serial number only. and if the come after you remember no to say thank you when they say good luck.

What kind of visa if any do you have? It depends on that.

No visa, then no work whatsoever (legally that is).

@eurovol
I just have the regular 1 yr residence permit... aufenthaltstitel or sumfin I think its called

stealing work from us poor europeans eh

I doubt people will pay that much attention although I can't guarantee that of course. It depends maybe on what scale you are going to be doing it and if all transactions will be in cash, amongst other things

I am not positive, but you may be allowed to work up to the 400/month basis mini job deal. I would check if I were you and if you are not allowed, then request that you get that kind of designation. It shouldn't be too hard to get as I think most student visas come with a similar designation.
Your visa should list what allowances you have under the "befristet" section.

Well I wouldn't be doing to for more like like 15 hrs a week... like the family I am in contact with now is looking for someone from like 4:30-7 in the evening 4x a week...just picking the girl up from kindergartena nd playing with her until her mom comes home. And I imagien the transactions would be in case, so I really can't see how anyone would find out.

I think my visa says I can't work. not sure where it is at the moment but thats what I remember it saying.

I don't think so, but also not sure. 15hrs a week will probably put you over that anyway (and I think the 400 eur must be from one employer, again, I'm not sure)

Only one foolproof answer erdbeere, dump the boyfriend...no more worrying so problem solved

Are the parents worried about this or just you? You could always just have them write a letter for you explaining what the deal is and how much you'll be paid and you could take that down to the KVR.. most likely they'll just give you a stamp to ok it. Just make sure that in the letter they say that they only want you as their babysitter because of ... whatever reason (family connections, previous experiences, whatever)

the German (or maybe Austrian) boyfriend (see above for solution)
erdbeere
yea its just the austrian boyfriend who is worried...none of the parents who have contacted me so far have cared.
