IMPORTANT INFO:
Alright guys, I thought I'd come up with a few suggestions to keep the games interesting. What with several newbies having joined, there are a lot of people running around like headless chickens (including yours truly!!

) and the standard of the games has dropped somewhat in my opinion.
We gave it a go with 15 players and, although the games were better, people were complaining that they weren’t playing enough. Fair point I’d say. So, I’ve decided to limit the number of players to 12 - giving each 5-a-side team one sub.
However, that doesn't mean the games can't be competitive. What I would suggest is to have mini-matches on a first to 5 goals basis (followed by a SHORT water break and then on to the next one). This should help ensure players track back - even I may come back once-in-a-while

- and should keep the score below the
cricket level. If the games are tight, we can keep same teams. If they're not, change them up slightly. Most players are pretty even and so it shouldn't really matter who's on whose team.
Finally, everybody needs to make sure they sub off from time to time. We're all guilty of staying on a bit too long at times when a rest would come in handy. Under the new format, players should ONLY sub with the goalie or an injured player. That is to say, when you come on, you go in goal for the first bit. When you've done your bit in goal, you get one of your teammates to take over. This will avoid having the stupid situation of the game being held up for 5 minutes while some guy works out how to put the bib on. As goalie, you can be a bit choosier about when's a good time to sub, and when isn't!!! If you notice someone's not been in goal for a bit or hasn't subbed, SHOUT AT THEM!! If you're not as fit as your teammate, maybe you can offer to go off again anyway. Just a bit of common sense needed.
I hope these changes meet with your approval lads and I'm looking forward to kicking all of you on Friday.
Cue criticism!! (where's the "run for cover" smilie when you need it

)

Good idea in theory, but say 5 goals are banged in in rapid succesion. Are we goning to have a water break every 5mins? I know you say change the teams, but finding a good balance is going to be quite difficult I think.
Happy to give it a go for a couple of weeks though.
DJ_Jazzy_Guff
Feb 15 2007, 1:34 pm
If me and you are up front, there won't be 5 goals in quick succession

!! Fuck it then, why not suggest first to 10? I think finding a balance won't be too difficult. If it's competitive, people try harder and bother to defend. I think the games will be quite tight. Let's go with first to 10 tomorrow then and see how we get on.
why not 'first to 10' and the losers are both physically and mentally abused for the duration of the break?
Pete
Feb 15 2007, 2:08 pm
That sounds good. Just a thought though, if it's more competitive, people will get tired far quicker, so we could try the 3 team option - winner stays on. Then the loosers can have a drink and time to recover.
Pete
Don't really agree mate. I for one would hate to be sitting off for 10 mins should the team I'm in lose.
There is nothing I hate more than turning up and there is any more than 12 people there.
Psmith
Feb 15 2007, 6:22 pm
As much as I´d like to be "behind" Andy ;-) ,I would have to go with Pete on this one. Besides the reasons he pointed out, it is a far simpler equation to implement than leaving it to the discreetion of each individual to adhere to the "rules". Perhaps the down side is you have to sit out for say 10 minutes, but then again, its the same for everyone which is what I think Andy is aiming at.Also it does not matter if your team loses or wins everyone is on n off for the same period of time And yes, getting 12 players on a regular basis is tough enough let alone 15.
Just another dick´s opinion...
DJ_Jazzy_Guff
Feb 15 2007, 10:48 pm
I'm inclined to stick with the 12 player format and first to 10. If you go for 15, one guy doesn't turn up or comes well late and then both teams have 2 subs or something. Fuck that! First to 10 and if you're not that fit, stay back or go in goal more. Let's give it a try tomorow. We're all men (well...anyway) so shouldn't be shy about asking your TEAMMATES if they wanna sub. People just need to talk a bit more. Hope the rest of these regulars hurry up and sign up this week. Anyways, see you lot tomorrow.

I agree if we have 10,11,13 players.
But if we have 12 players at the start, and no tardy lemmings turning up 15mins late etc.
3 teams of 4 players.
8minute games.
First game winer stays on for the next game. After that you stay on for 2 games.
No shooting from beyond halfway line.
Last man/Goalie must stay in his own half.
Fast intense open football.

Alright lads - good game tonight. As you may have already read, there's a game on
Sunday in the Englischer garten at about 1:30 pm. We're looking to get as many people together for it as possible so feel free to come along. There's no plans as yet to make this a regular event but if it goes well this week and the snow stays away

, it may become one.
Secondly, I'm looking to get your opinions on the next round of games. The remaining games TO BE PUT IN YOUR DIARIES

from the old contract (25 games in total) are:
Week 19 - 02.03.07
Week 20 - 09.03.07
Week 21 - 16.03.07
Week 22 - 23.03.07
Week 23 - 30.03.07
6.04.07 - NOT INCLUDED IN DEAL AS IT'S EASTER. But I have provisionally booked a court from 5:30 pm - 7 pm (only time available). = EXTRA GAME 1 (paid by 'me' i.e. the subs money)
13.04.07 - NOT INCLUDED, STILL EASTER??!! I have booked a court from 5:30 pm - 7 pm (only available) EXTRA GAME 2
Week 24 - 20.04.07
Week 25 - 27.04.07 END OF CONTRACT
After that I would estimate that we would have enough in the subs fund for another 3 Extra games more or less (MAKING 5 in total):
EXTRA GAME 3 - 04.05.07
EXTRA GAME 4 - 11.05.07
EXTRA GAME 5 - 18.05.07
We then need to think if we want to have a contract over the summer. Who's interested in signing up for games
INDOORS!!! from 25 May onwards? I will enquire about the summer block booking and then about making a special reserve (pay later) booking for the same time slot next winter. These Germans get in there blitzschnell!!! Mark your interest in the summer booking here (REGULARS HAVE FIRST REFUSAL) with an '

Lads,
The game this week is NOT INCLUDED in the original package as they allow 2 weeks for Easter. However, I've booked a pitch from 5:30 - 7 pm this Friday. That's the best they had if we wanted to do 90 mins. This game is the first 'extra' game paid for by the subs money that is free for the regulars. Subs still pay a fiver. Back to the regular time of 6 pm again from next week.
I will also be PMing all of the regulars and subs about the next round of indoor games.
See you Friday at the slightly earlier time.

Alright lads,
Well, last week marked the end of the 25 game package deal. What that means is we now need to decide what to do. If we want to book some more indoor matches, we still can as the place is quite quiet during the summer. However, many of you have expressed more of an interest in playing outdoors. We had an extra game a few weeks ago but there is still some money left in the subs pot and the question is just how to spend it. We could book a few more extra games, or we could invest in some equipment for outdoors. I was thinking of getting some goalposts of some sort. I've seen other groups of guys with them and I think it would be really good. We could also get some bibs and a new ball and all that. What do you lot reckon? Please stick a post in this thread saying:
1. If you still want to play indoors in the summer.
2. Whether you'd prefer to get the outdoor equipment or have a couple of extra indoor games.
3. What day you would like to play footy in the summer. We don't have to do Fridays anymore.
So, NO GAME THIS WEEK till we sort this out but football is definitely back from next week. It will either be indoors or outdoors depending on the your answers!!
Cheers,
A

Monday or Wednesday
No, I'd rather play outside while the weather is good. It's just too hot indoors during the Summer.
Use the sub money to get equipment. Goals, Cones, Bibs and ball.
Any day other than a Friday would be better.

I'm up for outdoors as long as the kitty money can be spent to buy some industrial-strength insect repellent... and I suppose the posts and bibs and balls would be a good investment too.

Yes.
Outside is a waste of time, flies, bad playing surface, rain, no boundaries, slackers not turning up, playing with random people as you don't have enough.
2. Whether you'd prefer to get the outdoor equipment or have a couple of extra indoor games.
Indoor Games. Jumpers/Ski-poles are fine for posts. Who's going to carry the chuffing goal posts to the park and back?

Gaz has a good point - indoors does mean that we have a set time and place and people are more likely to turn up, especially if it has been paid for. The boundaries and playing surface are good points too - (and I hate the mosquitos).
So I'd tend to say we would have better games if we stuck indoors. As summer is not so busy indoors we might also be able to play on a bit longer if we liked.
But it is hotter indoors and you have to pay for the pitch. Outside is free and you get sun and a breeze (although can also be unlucky and get rain).

Gaz only wants it for the boundaries, otherwise he'd be half round Munich getting his ball after a shot!!
I think the big man's points are valid. Maybe we should look at both. With the weather being the way it is, it's a shame not to get out and enjoy a good game on grass in the sun.
So, we sacrifice the subs money to get out door equipment, but look at still booking a new regular slot at the Socca5s
I think if we had a scout around we could find a decent patch of grass to play on.
The bugs can be combated with bug spray.
Just don't play when it rains
Lets be fair, walls could be a good thing to get some folks games up!!
As for slackers and not having enough folk, I think it's good to join different groups. It adds a bit variety, test yourself against others.
That's ma 2 bob's worth!

Hello all,
1. If you still want to play indoors in the summer.
Definitely. Indoor is a different and better game for us slower individuals. Get the indoors say on Wednesdays and sign people up, and then have less organised bouce games at the weekend. Best of both worlds!
2. Whether you'd prefer to get the outdoor equipment or have a couple of extra indoor games.
Both. It's not a lot of money. A few beers a week.
3. What day you would like to play footy in the summer. We don't have to do Fridays anymore.
As midweek as possible so Wednesday, with tuesday or thursday as alternatives.
