blade night? what's that? I've seen a couple of posters somewhere about it but they were in german and I was to lazy to read them.

I've got wheels. And big bull-bars on the front. Mowing down roller-bladers would be a lot of fun. Can't stand the fcukers. Hate them only marginally less than young blokes who can't walk on stairs properly because their fcuking jeans are hanging about 6 inches below their arse.

hey maybe there are some rollerblader's who don't like guys who have jeep's and are willing to leave little ruber (weelmarks) on the roof of your car

Apr 19 2004, 10:28 am
Why do you hate them so much?
Are you jealous you don't look that athletic on blades but like Bambi on ice (which is quite cute imho, Bambi I mean)?
I'd wish to be that good on them... I would participate. Still have the blades at home not daring to use them... don't wanna harm my coccyx again

One thing worse than rollerbladers... Rollerbladers with ski poles!
Katrina

No, this is unlikely to happen to Keydeck's Jeep as the apostrophe police will get to such Rollerbladers first.

rolerbladers with ski poles? ohhh christ, I'm ashamed of rolerblading now.

Apr 19 2004, 10:36 am
I didn't. 'Tis moderator induced generalisation. I've nothing against Rollerblades per se, or indeed the people who use them. In fact, I'm even quite fond of the two young ladies in the
MVV poster ad. My wrath is saved specifically for the blade night people as they see it somehow being their divine right to fuck up traffic in town for everyone else once a week.

Two hours of disruption after the evening rush hour in a different section of town once a week for what , 10 weeks of the year?
What about blokes driving gas guzzling, fume spewing, accident causing, road and pavement blocking ersatz penises around Munich when there's a perfectly good public transport system?

Go to a little known website called
www.google.com and type in the words München Blade Night. It's a clever little trick that very few people know about.

So basically you're looking at 20% of the Mondays every year which will involve such disruption. Far too much as far as I am concerned. Not sure about the routing thing but in previous years I believe it was always the same route used.

Ahh good seeing some honest feelings being expressed without people feeling the need to censor themselves or trying to please everyone

The world needs more expressions of honest feelings in my opinion, positive and negative.

Have a jeep or have some nice steel capped boots - all equally good at stopping bladers
I have not objection to blade night, but I have an strong objection to the uncontrolled bladers who should go to skate school
Maybe you need a license before putting a pair on, a basic test.

Nah Keydeck, wouldn't touch the auto industry with a bargepole, not least BMW who deliberately shut down what was left of Britain's motor industry.
On the roads that are effected (and the route changes every week) cars have priority (and make it hell for cyclists, pedestrians etc etc) 99,98% of the year, 2 hours is just 0,022%.
You need to work off some stress mate before you get a case of road rage, get down the gym or errrrm take up a sport like...rollerblading!

K2 offer inline skate lessons, usually they are free and the people are pretty friendly.
Click here for information.I once did one of their courses and just laughed myself to bits the whole time - I went from terrible to not being much good (which was a huge improvement in an hour) and it was FREE.
I think that there are also inliner courses in the Olympiazentrum somewhere (but my balance is rubbish so I'll leave it up to other people).

I read that Munich Blade Night might be cancelled this year. Apparently the main sponsor has pulled out leaving the organisers with a 100k Euro shortfall. They're hurredly trying to find new sponsors, and I guess they will. I can't really imagine it not happening. But it's not yet certain to go ahead...

blade night and it appears to be under maintenance. Anyone else here going along tonight ? Or have
details for where it starts, the time..etc.

There are different routes, but I believe they all start and finish on Sophienstrasse, so just get yourself there for about 8pm or something like that.
Now, gotta go and grease up my bullbars
bubblylady
May 10 2004, 11:49 am
that start is between Hackerbrücke and Circus Krone. Check
Radio Charivari for details.
Don't know if it is one due to the weather, you might have to call there.

Hey bubblylady, we'll have to compare war wounds at the GNO... I stupidly tried to teach myself the hill thing... 5 days in hospital and 2 litres of blood later...
so i can recommend the rollerblade school, I'll have a look at the stuff I have at home for it tonight for anyone who wants it. I did the course last year and survived 4 hours without an ambulance.
BUT since then I haven't been on them 'cos I didn't have anyone to play with
and I am scared to do the MBN on my own in case of embarrassing situations.
How about getting a group of mixed ability together, and dragging each other round? we could meet for drinks first, to loosen up the wheels...
Keydeck, you seem like such a nice young boy in that photo.. what went wrong?!

The hill thing ? Is that..going down a hill, or something tricky ?
Count me in on a blade meet up tho, sooner the better. I want to try my blades out on something more then a trip to the dvd store. I have ripped my fair share of jeans learning...I never knew there were classes for blading tho.
JoolyBooly
May 10 2004, 4:13 pm
yeah, nothing fancy, just around a corner and down a hill... with roots under the tarmac, wet leaves on top and nowhere to jump to (except onto my arse)
yep, i did a really cool course, it was at the airport last year which was great for learning as the tiled flooring is smooth and clean so not scary for beginners. I spent 4 hours skimming along on my boobs learning to fall, wear padded bras girlies!
If the weather's good we could meet up next week, I'll do a post.
In fact we have to, as next Monday is my birthday so we can drink afterwards
There used to be a beginner's hour before the bladenight starts, this would be a good plan too.

I bought rollerblades (hockey type WITHOUT brakes) last week for the first time. I have never been on roller blades before in my life. So in my infinite wisdom I tried to conquer Olympiaberg in my first week. This should be fun I thought!!

Going up wasn't a problem, but coming down was an adventure (and I wasn't in Amsterdam...). I'm glad it rained earlier in the day because it made the grass and my landing softer. I can't believe you can actually rollerblade on damp grass for 50m...it must have been the excessive speed.
Ouch...

too bad the weather is s**t today, was looking forward for Blade Night.
btw: anyone know's any skate parks in munich? there's one in the hirchgarten and I've heard of one in the olympia park but I was skating there this weekend and couldn't find it.

we could do what I originally tried, meeting up on a different night to practice and give tips to beginners, then teaming up for bladenight.
I'll post a date when it gets above zero.. now I'm off to the sauna to warm up
