After months of pig pig pig, I managed to track dopwn some (admittedly, New Zealand) lamb and I am tucking into a glorious Sunday roast of lamb with rosemary and garlic with roast potatoes and fresh peas with mint. How wonderfully Scottish!
I'm in bliss . . .
what is everyone elser eating?

I've chomped down oodles of noodles, me
You can get lamb out of the freezer in
Tengelmann, btw (the one near us BTC has them in the section nearest the Wurst counter).
I know some folk are not keen on frozen meat, but it tastes alright to me.

Freeze-thaw-repeat-ad-naseum is the only way to tenderize even the toughest of cuts.

Scottish lamb, no, but fresh lamb cheaper than the frozen stuff (normally €5-8/kg) can be found in the various halal shops down and around Schillerstraße and the small steret parallel to it, Senefelderstr. They'll cut it how you like it but you need to speak German. Or Turkish. Or some Arabic variant. Damned good lamb, too.

If you're around Schillerstr you're probably better off with a bit of Kurdish - I can count to 10 in Kurdish, but that's more or less it, sadly.

So you're screwed if you want 12 kilos of lamb, huh? That must suck. I guess the next TT Scottish Brekkie won't be held at your place then.

Agree. I have had lamb cutlets from the Turkish shops and it was fine. Significantly better than the frozen offerings from the supermarkets. Another possibility is close to where I live in Westend. There are a lot of Metzgerei (butchers) along Astallerstr and the side streets. They have most things in, but lamb they often need to pre order. Not cheap (think we paid €21/kg), but worth it for the treat. Best lamb I have had in Germany.
I don't think u need to speak great German or Turkish or Kurdish to get your goods @ Schillerstr. Saying Lamm and hand signals should get you what you need.

No, she goes twice, once to buy 10 kg and again for the remaining 2 kg. Or twelve times. Main thing is going to a Turkish butcher, their lamb is generally delicious.
But we had lemon-roasted chicken drumsticks with peas&carrots and creamed onions.

you guys are making me hungry... sunday roast is my best and having just moved from Oz I miss lamb like crazy - its sooooo cheap there - can one get English lamb here anywhere - that used to be a pretty good second to the NZ stuff... I'm not up to date with the EU rules on meat here - know there's been some strange stuff going on whilst I've been away...
Butterfly lamb done on the Weber is a goodie too...
