Well the snow is finally melting and the temperature is rising at last. The Starkbierfest is in full swing and my mind is now occupied with thoughts of the wonderful Beer and Schweinshaxe of Andechs.

First trip of the year cannot be far away so I have made a few suggestions in the title. Let's see if we can get a good group of us together to offically start the Andechs season 2006.

So. Who's with me?

Sign up here if you intend to come!

EDIT: Date is fixed for Saturday, 22 April 2006 (mod.)
arshoo
ooooh is it that time of the year again? walk up and roll down the hill is always good fun, bring it on.
benpanter
Sat 15th sounds good. Did you mean to put dates which were Fri, Sat, Sat?

EDIT: Friday is a public holiday. Gotcha. All three fine by me then.
Topsy
14th & 15th are Easter weekend
not that it makes a difference or anything
I just thought I'd point it out for those who might not realise smile.gif
Keydeck
I'll be your dog...as that odd little crow in the Kiaora ad used to say. But not on the weekend of the 14th sadly.
Crawlie
Ah yes. I was relying on the above-average intelligence of yer average Toytowner to work out the reasoning behind the dates published..
Topsy
oh yeah, I'd forgotten they all have 160+ IQ's
silly me
Daisy
22nd!
I am taking advantage of the long weekend and travelling.

Title edited, must have been a moderator (TM to Malcolm Spudbury)
I'm game with Scogs for any of the dates. Are we renting a bus?
pepper
I'm probably going to be in Budapest the Easter weekend, so 22nd is good for me !
Mrs Peel
do they sell cheddar there? smile.gif
arshoo
shucks i cant make it either crawlie i will be with the bunnys wink.gif
Crawlie
I think 22nd is going to be the winner. Too much travelling on Easter weekend methinks
arshoo
and crawlie has reached 160 too
byrdbrain
162?
arshoo
still climbing biggrin.gif
byrdbrain
Climbie? C'mon, it's Friday, don't get me confused!
Eleanor Rigby
I've never been and would like to join but am out of town easter weekend as well.

22nd would be perfect.
MonksTown
When will I ever get to go to Andechs with TT? sad.gif

It's Easter so I'll be tried up at the church all weekend.

YAY for 22nd!
Jeeves
I'm not going to respond to MonksTown's post because I can't begin to understand it.
Crawlie, on the other hand, speaks clearly in tones that I like even with my minimal IQ.
Andechs, about flippin time smile.gif
MonksTown
@ Jeeves, it's Friday, I'm feeling delicate and I can't spreak propper innit.

I've always wanted to go to Andechs with TT but the dates never fit and I've missed the last 3 trips.
I can't go over Easter but I could go 22nd.

If Jeeves is anything like me, he was just wondering what being tried up at the church entailed. Some kind of kinky sex trial by ordeal, I'll wager.
*nods sagely*
MonksTown
Some things are best kept offline innit! wink.gif
Crawlie
So. April 22nd it is then. And off to the St George's Day party at The Arc afterwards!

Schplendid
grazzenger

byrdbrain

Oh Jesus!

<Books into Betty Ford Clinic for 23rd>
Jeeves
Schplendid indeed. It not only sounds like a plan, it is one.

Topsy: yeah that was indeed the only image I could conjure of MT's plans for Easter.
grazzenger
'er indoors enjoys nothing more than a good few beers. so, sadly now she can't have them she finds such events (where drinking is the key focus let's admit!) a bit of a bore. it's a question of whether we have anything pre-planned and whether i can go off and get larupped for the day! you never know she might want to join but...

however, we'll have spent the previous weekend with her parents (which isn't really a chore) so i will get 'compensation' wink.gif
Owain Glyndwr
Will there be a new sign-up sheet for this trip?
rubber duck
yes, for the 22nd.

should be for sure, we could try to beat the TT Christmas sign up. ph34r.gif
bluedave
22nd sounds marvellous, will have been in boring britain for easter so a good do will be required biggrin.gif
Wizadora
Sounds good to me! I could do with some fresh air and will probably need to work off all those Easter eggs!
arshoo
i can help with your eggs problem wizadora wink.gif
Crawlie
Sign up sheet with a nice little cherry on top will be organised shortly.

I must get the event put in the calendar for a start!
Keydeck

God Keydeck, i'm sat in England and no possibility of an Andechser beer and now looking for cellophane for my keyboard after slavering all over it looking at those pics tongue.gif

Note : I said slavering , OK ?
byrdbrain
Considering that we will be a fairly large crowd, is there any way of reserving? I've only been to Andechs in cozy small family groups (matter of fact, that was my first drunken experience at the ripe age of 13).
Crawlie
So people. The sign up sheet is now active so sign away folks!

SIGN UP SHEET FOR ANDECHS

Don't worry brydbrain, we usually start early, so we manage to reserve a place or two there.

is there any way of reserving?

nope, unless you have a personal contact to the Herrsching business "mafia" ph34r.gif
Owain Glyndwr
there is no way to reserve tables, which is why we normally leave Munich quite early so we can storm the castle monestary and bagsie the tables before too many people turn up. Essential for a big crowd.
Topsy
for the footie fans (well: Chelsea, Liverpool, West Ham, Charton/Middlesborough fans), don't forget that the FA Cup semi-finals are that weekend (and possibly that day, depending on your team)

clicky-doodah
Jeeves
Thanks for the heads-up Topsy but seven goals on Tuesday sorted that one for me. I knew something good had to come of it.
bluedave
Not a prob for me anymore either Jeeves and we would ahve had a semi against either Boro or Charlton too, Chelsea v Liverpool in the other.
Crawlie
Nice. Event now in the calendar.

So, if you want to come along then just sign up. Meeting time will be 10-10.30 in the morning
byrdbrain
For an old-timer I am asking preposterous questions:
1) Meet up where? S-Bahn Hauptbahnhof, I presume.
2) Can we bring our own grub? Diet incompatible with Schweinsbraten und Brezn.
Thanks.
sk8rgrl
That's my last day of work...but I'll be at the next one!!! wink.gif
Crawlie
Answers to your questions:

1) You will find a map on the sign up page (well a link to one). But here it is again in its full technicolor glory

The meeting point is next to our dear friends Western Rip Off Union. You can also take a look at the wonderful flowers in the flower shop while you wait. The Shrimp Limousine thing might still be there as well if you fancy a pint or half litre of prawns

2) Standard Biergarten regulations state that bringing your own grub is allowed. However, checking the Andechs website may be helpful with your inquiry
