@byrdbrain
The meeting point is usually at Hbf, near the Limo/Bar Car... Before going downstairs to the SBahn platforms
to take the S5 to Herrshing..

Yes, you can bring your own food, but you gotta buy their beer and soda...
Keydeck
There was cack-loads of food brought along to the last one including IW's great wraps and some rather odd boiled eggs. No problem from any of the staff who were around.
byrdbrain
Thanks all, bussis. I will bring lots of garlic butter for the Brezn you guys will be chomping down. I missed the map link on the sign up page.
Hazza
Can't make it (again).

I've yet to manage a TT Andechs trip...
Scogs
that's coz you have never been sober enough
ThePosterWithNoName
Damn, it's a MH3 weekend.

Damn, with a side-helping of bother.
grazzenger
woohoo, i'm being let out and have signed up.

now to do the sunshine dance for the next 3 weeks!! it can't keep raining for that long.
canuck
I'll try to keep this day open so I can join in the madness...just like the last 30 times...
pootle
Well I'll be attending eventually. I wont be walking up the hill as my leg is still knackered from badminton 2 weeks ago. See you guys at the top

Wuss... biggrin.gif
pootle
Yep I'm a wuss

Darkknight
I've walked over 20km's on far worse smile.gif
Just need to strech it out...

Is that leg actually shaved!!! biggrin.gif
Crawlie
Right chaps. So the meeting time is 10.15am. We have checked the weather on various sites and we have a variety of scenarios. However, general forecast is 15 degrees and showery weather. We can always sit inside if it gets too cold or wet though
Jeeves
Right, I'm not travelling into town just to travel out again, so better count me out of any group train tickets. I'll see y'all there cool.gif
grazzenger
i'll be coming in from erding anyway, so will need a gesamtnetz tageskarte, so i'll will just get a partner version and then 4 of you can chip in to buy me a beer ;-))
Cookie
Ok - I'm in too. Not sure about the husband though as he's coming back from HK at 6am that day. If I bring the hund, then I am taking the bus with Pootle (she's too small to walk up some of the steep parts and she's too heavy to carry for an hour up a hill).
cinzia
Good news! The weather reports have been upgraded a little for the end of the week. I'm seeing 18 degrees with scattered showers for Andechs on Saturday. To me, 18 is a whole lot better than 15!

(I'll only be coming if the weather looks to be relatively decent. I don't get an all-day pass very often, and would rather use it for a nice-weather outing.)

Oh just leave the b***h with him, he deserves it tongue.gif
bluedave
oh bugger, was pointed out to me at the weekend that this bash and St George's Day celebration at The Arc are on the same day sad.gif

What to do, what to do ?
sarabyrd
I will be on my own, Scogs is in the US until the end of the month. I am going to delete his tag-alongs as well. Count me in on any group ticket, please.
benpanter
I've already got a whole network ticket myself, so no group ticket for me thanks. Might go climbing instead if the weather is good, so it's a maybe I'm there, maybe I'm not type situation.

Pilgrimage to Andechs, then to The Arc?
bluedave
I think that is not possible after a couple of mass in Andechs it's all i can do to get home wink.gif
cinzia
Well, the hike back down the hill from Andechs takes, what? 45 minutes? Then, we will have just missed an S-Bahn, so we'll have to wait 19 minutes for the next one. The trip back to Munich and then on to The Arc takes a little more than an hour.

So, bluedave, all together, if you don't drink beer on the return trip, you'll have about 2.5 hours ohne Bier to refresh yourself before The Arc festivities!
profundo
Sorry to miss everyone, but we won't be going on Saturday to Andechs because we will be going on Sunday. Have fun and warm up the benches for us. smile.gif

I've just figured out that I can make it too, so I'll be there. I need to buy a gesamtnetz ticket as well so if anyone wants to share I'll get a partner ticket as well. Of course you'll have to leave when I do but I imagine we'll all leave together, oder?
HollyGolightly
So if the weather is nice then Im definatley in biggrin.gif
3 Lions
Not for me this weekend. I'll catch the next trip, usually thats the one where we all get sunburnt!! smile.gif
arshoo
shucks, really also want to go in the flohmarkt on saturday, hunt for some cheap little treasures...decisions decisions...i'll see what the mood is like on the day, so i just moved down from Green to Orange.
Wizadora
Is the flohmarkt not on on Sunday as well?
Gen
another one rides the bus.
arshoo
nope, only Saturday as far as i know wizadora
NOFXmike
hmm, I've got a concert that night (Dropkick Murphy's...old friends)...but might be able to stop by for a couple hours, since it's right next door...I haven't signed up, but I wouldn't be surprised if I do go...
grazzenger
ach, feck, now i'm being nagged about how nice the weather is and that we should go to the garden centre and why do i want to go to Andechs anyway, etc, etc. gah! you see, that's the problem with pregnancy, your life is no longer your own and it's course is dictated by the hormonal whims of your wife. i'm going to have to play this one by ear but i'm afraid my ear may be twisted sad.gif
NOFXmike
city center...where there's SO much fresh air *cough*...can't get that in Andechs, no way tongue.gif

unfortunately, that's how they are...good luck
Crawlie
Haagen Daas grazzenger, Haagen Daas
Darkknight
Didn't they even have a Radler flavored Icecream for O'fest last year...
Best of both worlds really...
bluedave
If the weather stays like today then Andechs is a racing favourite for saturday smile.gif
Allershausen
The Beeb reckons on 21° and the big orange thing in the sky. T-Shirts and shorts folks! biggrin.gif
BBC Weather
sarabyrd
Clouds coming in from the West, but not until late afternoon/evening. Don't forget your sunblock or floppy hat!
Crawlie
Yep. Weather looks good. According to my sources it should be over 20° with 0% chance of precipi praci pressipita rain. Some clouds in the afternoon but nothing too serious to ruin the fun!

And then off to The Arc in the evening for St George's Day celebration! Cool

That's the worry, trying to keep the vertical hold working unsure.gif

However a challenge is a challenge and must be accepted for England and St George !

Andechs-newbie question:

Is this a hiking-boots mud-and-roots trail or a paved, hiking-autobahn?
Owain Glyndwr
hiking boots not necessarily needed but good comfortable shoes for the trail that can withstand getting a bit muddy. It is a good trail but not paved.
luckwad
it's certainly not a clean, paved, you-could-go-kart-up-there kinda hike, but there are pretty open, clear paths. Probably don't need to whip out the hiking gear, but comfy sneakers are a must.
Crawlie
Ah yes. The hike up to Andechs. I remember last year. bonnydebbie turned up in high heels and in felt like the place was about to close for the evening by the time we got up there. She almost gave up twice on the way but Wifey and I managed to persuade her to carry on
Darkknight
@bluedave
Looks like you might be better off taking the bus back to the station. Don't need to add another number to the "Lost Hikers" sign... wink.gif

@OG
Well not paved after the first 20min or so, but it is compacted rock/dirt most of the way up the mountain..
Keydeck
Here's a few photos which show what the walk is like (click link for lots more).

Owain Glyndwr
don't forget the trail is likely to be wetter and muddier than most people remember from last summer due to the amount of snow and rain we've had.
luckwad
I was up there last week since my parents were visiting, and it was dry the whole way smile.gif
