Well the snow is finally melting and the temperature is rising at last. The
Starkbierfest is in full swing and my mind is now occupied with thoughts of the wonderful Beer and
Schweinshaxe of Andechs.
First trip of the year cannot be far away so I have made a few suggestions in the title. Let's see if we can get a good group of us together to offically start the
Andechs season 2006.
So. Who's with me?
Sign up here if you intend to come!EDIT: Date is fixed for Saturday, 22 April 2006 (mod.)

Sat 15th sounds good. Did you mean to put dates which were Fri, Sat, Sat?
EDIT: Friday is a public holiday. Gotcha. All three fine by me then.

It's Easter so I'll be tried up at the church all weekend.

I'm not going to respond to MonksTown's post because I can't begin to understand it.

@ Jeeves, it's Friday, I'm feeling delicate and I can't spreak propper innit.
I've always wanted to go to
Andechs with TT but the dates never fit and I've missed the last 3 trips.
I can't go over Easter but I could go 22nd.

If Jeeves is anything like me, he was just wondering what being tried up at the church entailed. Some kind of kinky sex trial by ordeal, I'll wager.

'er indoors enjoys nothing more than a good few beers. so, sadly now she can't have them she finds such events (where drinking is the key focus let's admit!) a bit of a bore. it's a question of whether we have anything pre-planned and whether i can go off and get larupped for the day! you never know she might want to join but...
however, we'll have spent the previous weekend with her parents (which isn't really a chore) so i will get 'compensation'

Considering that we will be a fairly large crowd, is there any way of reserving? I've only been to
Andechs in cozy small family groups (matter of fact, that was my first drunken experience at the ripe age of 13).

nope, unless you have a personal contact to the Herrsching business "mafia"

Mar 24 2006, 3:41 pm
there is no way to reserve tables, which is why we normally leave Munich quite early so we can storm the castle monestary and bagsie the tables before too many people turn up. Essential for a big crowd.

for the footie fans (well: Chelsea, Liverpool, West Ham, Charton/Middlesborough fans), don't forget that the FA Cup semi-finals are that weekend (and possibly that day, depending on your team)

For an old-timer I am asking preposterous questions:
1) Meet up where?
S-Bahn Hauptbahnhof, I presume.
2) Can we bring our own grub? Diet incompatible with Schweinsbraten und Brezn.
Thanks.

Answers to your questions:
1) You will find a map on the sign up page (well a link to one). But here it is again in its full technicolor glory

The meeting point is next to our dear friends Western Rip Off Union. You can also take a look at the wonderful flowers in the flower shop while you wait. The Shrimp Limousine thing might still be there as well if you fancy a pint or half litre of prawns
2) Standard Biergarten regulations state that bringing your own grub is allowed. However, checking the
Andechs website may be helpful with your inquiry
