Does anyone know where I can rent a tuxedo?

Thanks in advance.

Try wedding shops. Walk along the Sonnenstr. between Sendlinger Tor and Stacchus and you will find one that hires.

White Tie:

This is the most formal of evening attire. The gentleman wears a long black dinner jacket with tails. A white pique vest is worn over his formal shirt and a white pique bow tie is also worn. Only formal black shoes with a spit shine should be worn with this attire. White gloves are sometimes carried which a gentleman may wear when he dances with a lady. If he is a diplomat, he may wear his pins with the colors of his country on his dinner jacket.

Probably best not to barf on one of these outfits huh?

I think I need "Black Tie". I am totally fashion challenged but have been invited to the World Stunt Awards in Hollywood as a guest. after the awards ceremony the party starts and it won´t be ballroom dancing, but more modern music/event bars in the backlot of Paramount studios.

Thanks for letting me know there is "White Tie" also. I had really no clue, I found a nice link with your help Johnny: party definitions.

Though they won´t kick me out if I´m not dressed according to the code, I will be outta place at the party. I'll let ya know how it turns out.

Wouldn't it be easier to rent a tux in Hollywood? I mean, you can speak the lingo, it would be for a shorter period of time, they must have dozens of shops set-up for these sort of things, you wouldn't have to transport it overseas, etc etc.

Sounds like fun by the way.

It would be easier if I had the time, to rent one there. But my flight arrives on Sat evening and the awards are on Sunday...I didn´t plan the trip, it was a gift. I would have arrive earlier iffin it was me planning. It seems kinda kantankerous to demand an earlier flight from my friend...hmmmmm,, maybe 24hr service...

Good idea. Though you probably have to rent it in advance. If you do this, go for a reputable dealer/renter. There are alot of nickel and dime tux rental places that don't care if the pants come in the wrong size and since they don't keep a lot of stock in the actual stores you might be up the creek with a pair of highwaters...

Check out The Men's Wearhouse They have a tux rental site, you can at least see the various looks, options etc. They should also be able to help you with proper conversion sizes. Also, if you use the store rental shoes, buy yourself some cheapy but cushy inserts, i.e. Dr. Scholls, from a pharmacy. Those rental shoes can be really uncomfortable, esp. for long night of partying.

Have fun!

I have a tuxedo from Hirmer (it was an emergency) but absolutely no use for it at all - anyone any ideas on the best place to sell it/get rid of it?
