Ingolstadt Village outlet shopping

I recently found out about the Ingolstadt Outlet Village which offers a host of different brand names at a reduced price.

As well as clothes being on offer, they also sell shoes, jewellry and accessories for your apartment.
Clothing designers on offer include, amongst many others: Bogner, Mexx, Wrangler, Venice Beach, CK and Strenesse.

You can also check the website in advance for special offers, such as 2 for 1 on CK underwear, or 50% off HIS, Lee and Wrangler jeans.

It is open from Mondays to Saturdays, 10am to 8pm (closed on Sundays). The restaurant is open from 9.30am-8pm Mon-Sat, and 9.30am-2.30pm on Sundays.

Ingolstadt is 100km north of Munich.

My sister in law went there once but as someone working in fashion industry (i mean branded ones) for more than 10 years, she did not tell me much about this place.

Perhaps one day i will visit that place too.

I went last fall and wasn't impressed. I guess because I had plans to be in the States only a month laster (and some real outlet shopping).

But, I guess it is a start.

@KitKat64 - could you maybe explain what it was like, or say why you weren't impressed? Might save me/us a wasted trip.

I second that, kitkat64. We used to live out that way and Mr. ajohnson has a client which has a store there. We were tempted to check it out by his client with the promise of deeply discounted items. I was thoroughly unimpressed! This place falls well short of a true "outlet" in the American sense of the word. It's definitely not worth the drive from Munich.

...can someone explain why it wasn't up to US outlet standards? Selection? Prices? I'm also interested in checking this place out as I miss a good outlet shopping trip, but it's a bit of a hike and it'd be nice to know ahead of time if it's not worth the effort.

In my experience, the prices on the whole were not "outlet" (i.e. I could buy the same item at a regular store for the same price so no great savings). The range of stores was very limited at the time that we visited (they advertise that they will be adding numerous stores this year, I believe). Most of the shops were also very, very small and had very limited selection. Not to mention the customer service leaves something to be desired (surprise, surprise). Overall, just shit and a total waste of a half day walking through the complex.

The outlet at Ingolstadt is just starting out and is increasing in size all the time. It will take them a while to figure out what sells and what needs to be shipped out to other outlets where it will sell.
Bicester village started out the same way but I watched it improve over the years to a level whereby they stocked a lot of good product that was popular. (Helly Hansen and Tog24 was excellent for ski and outdoor wear.
An American friend of mine says that the primary difference between the U.S outlets and the ones in the U.K (besides the size of the sites and stores) is that many of the top brands make cheap lines especially for the "outlets" where in the UK they are not allowed to do that. (So she tells me and she does like a "shop")

My wife was disappointed with Ingolstadt due to the small scale of the area and the shops. She was also disappointed because the products on sale seemed to be more at the extreme end of fashion and still quite expensive.

It took you half a day? It only took us an hour. The prices were out there(ie, no real deals to be had, stuff was not discounted). Canaryman hit it on the head about the clothing being at the extreme end of fashion.

I recently re-visited Ingolstadt village. It has not improved but I only went to by some scented candles so my trip was not in vain.

If there are any dog owners reading this, do not take your dog as you are not allowed to take them into the village. We were told by one of the security guards that we had to leave as we had a dog, despite me pointing out it was a "Welpen" of 12 weeks. It does, however, appear that if you have one of these poncy little dogs with ribbons in the hair, you may gain entrance so long as you carry it(yep, really)

I was actually escorted out by security who did not seem to appreciate my comments that they were all very short (and suffering from "short-bloke complex"). The security guard did actually like my dog and was playing with it (it is too small to bite yet )

By the way, it is still too expensive, mostly sells fashion at the "extreme" end and the shops are poorly stocked. Just my opinion. Bicester village is far better but, its, er, well its in Bicester.

Just wondering if this Ingolstad Outlet centre has improved in recent months? We're thinking of checking it out, but like others don't want to waste our time if its terrible. Looking for some smart, good quality age-less clothes that aren't too based on the current fashions.

I wonder if it's worth going to, or if I should just stay and do my shopping in nuremberg instead hmmm...
