My girlfriend and I were getting a lift from a friend back home when the traffic report comes on the radio. Now I've heard that even if it you're listening to music on the radio or a CD, the radio will cut off the music when the report comes on..
However, I noticed that the volume also increased when the traffic report came on. I don't have a car so this was all kinda new to me.
So, my questions: is this feature in all newer German automobiles? Can this feature be switched off? What if you're listening to the radio really loud and then the traffic report comes on, will the volume decrease for the report then increase back for the music automatically?
Just wondering...

In most cars there's a preset volume for traffic reports, and in many cars (certainly Audis) you can set the reports not to come on (this feature should be on all cars AFAIK), or you can set the preset volume so it's quieter if you so wish. It's nothing new either - been around for years.

volumes are usually adjustable and, yes, you can turn the reports off if you want.

The screen on the radio probably displays 'TP' if this has been activated - press the knob with 'TP' on it and that should deactivate the annoying reports about
