As mentioned in the other thread, I now have a sewing machine and some suitable kite material and plan on having a go at creating one of my own. As some people expressed an interest in it and how it goes, I am starting this thread.
I have managed to re-locate the software I was looking at previously for making the patterns. The software is Surfplan and is free to use non-commercially. It can be used for making plans for small power kites, large power kites, inflatable or self-inflating, bridled, non bridled and you can even design paragliders on it.
My next challenge is deciding what type of kite to build. I think I will make a self-inflating 4-line bridled kite big enough to get some good air on a moderately windy day. Now I just need to decide on a size and style so I can print out a plan to work from.
I know there are some forums from people who have made their own so will start there for ideas on the size to attempt.
Any ideas from the interested people on here?
