Hiya
I need help.
No. Not mental help (although this might be a good idea).
I need to learn how to do a waltz.
Three weddings this year (NOTE: none of them mine) and having to do formal dances at German/Austrian weddings is for me a section that Dante forgot to add into his Inferno. It is awful. No, I am awful.
My problem (which Herr Indoors says is indicative of me generally) is that I want to lead, I want to dance the male role. Hmmm.
Anyway, please save me from flat feet, knackered shoes, embarassment and bruises - does anyone have ideas? Either a dance teacher who will come to my flat (we have a huge living room) or a dance studio which will take useless women whose boyfriends can't/won't/don't need to come along?
I've got about 6 weeks so desparate measures are required...

Katrina,

try looking at http://www.tanztipp.de/

They do a three week "Hilfe, wir heiraten!" course which is designd for the hapy couple but might fit the bill (although you'd probably have to drag Herr Indoors as your partner).

But you can also book private lessons! or do a basic 'singles' crash course!

PM me for more infos.

Seek "women in comfortable shoes" for dancing partners I reckon. ph34r.gif

Katrina, there are loads of dance schools, problem is, anyone I've ever come accross who attended(including Opa) dance like cardboard figures and count in your ear. Beware though, after the 1,2,3. 1,2,3., the Germans like to add a wee hop, whether it fits the music or not.
I've noticed they do the same dance to all music regardless of tempo, therefore you'll only need to learn one dance.

Good luck anyway, and let us know how you get on. By the way, you won't need the "slosh" if it's German weddings!
