of course bluedave. we've been rubbish for 5 years and much as i dislike all that fervent scottish-english past history hatred crap, if we finish above england, i'll be happy and i think 99.9% recurring of the scottish population will too.
look at it this way, we've beaten the two favourites this season and no-one else from our underclass has acheived that. ok, that may not be the point of the championship but it's been so mixed up this season that i'll take that plus finishing above england as a good result.

that and England losing 3 from 5 games. Would have been nice to settle above France as well but I will take this. Its a long way from finishing 5th all the time.

Just wanna say that I do think that we did well today - we were lucky - on other days we wouldnt have won - respect to the English supporters who took defeat with grace - not sure if I would have if I was in their boots. We desperately need a few super big props and we'd be in serious business though.
Far and away the best game of the 6N regardless of the result - confirmed by an Aussie and a Saffer who were in the pub.

I am seriously impressed with the whole tournament, Italy improving and I would think pretty soon not getting the wooden spoon. The level of play from all the teams is showing that us in the northern hemisphere can compete with the the south.
congrats to France for winning the tournament, (but they still lost to us)
congrats to Ireland for the triple crown

Dream on mate. Scotland's always good for a one-off win against the age-old rivals England which is great for the rest of us, but the only Northern Hemisphere side with a chance at the moment of the world cup is France. My money's on NZ or South Africa.

it must be said england were absolutely woeful yesterday. as the only game i was able to see, i did enjoy the banter between moore and wood in the commentry - sounded like they were getting pissed off with each other at points. to quote the newspaper i got today "GREEN FOR GLORY"

enjoy being 4th England!!!

So, you are one of the many the jocks that I met whilst slumming it north of the border.
When the Scots win at rugby, every man and his dog are ardent, dyed in the wool rugby supporters and only have a passing interest in football. The national the national rugby team fare badly whilst the football team draw with Outer Hebrides and suddenly "we stand a chance of winning the world cup, rugby, eh? never watch the game me"
Lamentable.

i didnt watch the game as i am in training for the biggest race of my season at my sport and sadly tide waits for no man.
generally i will watch every game and currently find myself in debt thanks to recent murrayfield prices.
i didnt make the claim that scots will win WC, but sure as hell am 100% supporting every game the national RUGBY team plays. (assuming you are trying to call me a fair weather fan here)
regardless, sure as hell got more chance of winning WC than england have!

Didnt see the game myself as my wife and I were at our place in Austria skiing. Never mind, enjoy your training and gloating. I am an England supporter through thick and thin, I just dont just pull on a rugby jersey when every 10 years or so, we dont win the wooden spoon and actually manage to win a couple of games...Glad I went skiing, it would have cost me to watch the game but skiing is free (for me)
p.s give me a shout when Scotland win either the world cup at football or rugby (or when a scotsman gets past the 1st round of either competition (NO the referee does not count)

Agreed, but Scotland has a habit of pulling something out of the bag against the age-old foes and the rest of us thoroughly enjoy seeing England getting a kicking from an underdog. Hence the Irish victory at Twickenham of all places being as great as it was.

Well here saith the true supporter that will desert his club and country at the first sign of defeat ehh,
Just to put the record strait, I much prefer watching Rugby than Football, I played Rugby for my School/University and then at local club level. But would also support Scotland at Cricket, Tiddlywinks or Football, and being a Scot we are well used to watching a Scottish woefully inadequate performances with a shoulder shrug and then celebrate with a few beers, and when we do well celebrate with a cheer and a few beers
also Scotland are now
ranked number 8 in the world, England are
ranked at number 9 at football yet every English football fan I have ever spoke to thinks England will waltz the cup home with them, yes we might be dreaming that we can win the world cup, but on the world rankings we can at least be quietly optimistic
1 (1) New Zealand 93.32
2 (2) South Africa 88.76
3 (3) France 85.95
4 (4) Australia 83.93
5 (6) Ireland 82.74
6 (5) England 80.59
7 (7) Wales 78.64
8 (8) Scotland 77.70
9 (9) Argentina 75.16
10 (10) Samoa 73.97
11 (12) Fiji 73.11

You do come across as being a typical England fan. Similar to BBC news and just how quickly rugby was glazed over at the weekend by the news readers...
Best bit about commentry for Ireland game was guscott "ireland won it by the narrowest of margins" - did he see the WC 2003 final I wonder. Points count whenever they are scored.
Also good was keith wood responding to brian moore saying the irish try shouldnt have been allowed
"now now brian if the referee says its a try, its a try" !!!
You're right, you did win a
couple of games, no more and were lucky to get that. Roll away white.

god this is so boring. "england couldnt win this" "scotland couldnt win this" "i'm a bigger fan than you and have liked rugby before you". fact is it was the best 6 nations for a long time. all teams performed well and disatrously at the same time. it was nice to see the scots do well, was heart breaking to see wales self distruct only 12 months after a grand slam, was inspiring to have the irish fight back against france and dissapointing to see england go backwards in their quality of playing. the biggest winners were italy, lets hope they make the desicesion to play future internationals in the north of the country nearer to us.
to the shit stirring scots and english here celebrate your win, not somebodies elses loss. it just makes you look small and childish.
ansd to the SANZAUS people, its about time you seriously thought about expanding your competition to five. i know its part of your tradition blah di blah, but you can see what its done to italy.

hi gideon, don't be too tough on wales. they were hammered by injury coming into the tournament and i thought they could/should have beaten france, very unlucky. once they've got those core players back, i think we'll see a resurgent bunch of leek throwers next year.
