I waited 20 min at HBF yesterday for Tram 18/19 heading west (should be every 5 min). Finally I got on and after one stop I saw the problem. A f***ing car had parked blocking the tram because there was too much snow on the shoulder to park there without blocking it. I went another stop and saw that many trams were lined up. By the third stop I had seen an hour's worth of trams all stopped, with drivers standing around on the sidewalk. So I got off and walked back to HBF, because I had to be somewhere important in 1.75 hours and I was worried the trams won't be sorted out by then.

Ouch thats gonna be expensive for the car driver...

I got talking to the tram driver once while we waited to get a car moved - apparantly you get charged for:

The tram driver calling the police out
Your car being towed
€100 per tram that is affected (i.e. diverting from planned timetables / routes)

Ouch

On a side note there is some text about the tram disruption on

Actually that makes me feel better. I was so pissed at that person. I didn't get to go to my gym. I wasted over an hour trying to get there. And I saw all those poor people on the tram in the other direction who'd just been sitting there for an hour.

This is from monday people... Let the nightmare begin!

It hasn't been too bad TBH, the MVG seem to have everything organised pretty well. Its rush-rush-rush to get stuff done before the WM innit. A little bird tells me they're gonna be ripping up the 19 around Ostbahnhof too.
