The fire department is, quite understandably, too busy to be worried about this leaning tree in our backyard. Mr DDBug thinks it will fall into the neighbor's courtyard, I think it will hit our building...

Somebody (an unfamiliar neighbor) rang our bell last night around 9 to ask who owned the red car parked in the back that a tree had just fallen on.
Not us, whew.

The neighbors are outside shaking the snow off their precious apple trees. Proceed with caution...

yeah b/t here and Pullach there are a few trees or parts of trees that have fallen/snapped off. if i could get some place i'd help people shovel their cars- i just need something to do!

and no doggies today to take on a walk since they don't come back until tomo. i'm tempted to strap tennis rackets on my feet as snow shoes and go into the woods

heheheh (just kidding about the tennis racket bit)

Driving back last night at 3am was fun... I'm just glad the car has 4 wheel drive, otherwise.. it wouldn't have been pleasant. IEverything looked beautiful though; crystallised sugar-topped, lit up by street lights. Here's the view from my windows this morning:

Do they ever cancel school due to snow?
It has happened about once in the last 30 years to my recollection, but that was in Rosenheim, further south.

I'd disappear into the snow!
I was wondering what the rules are for work - if everything's cancelled then I can't get to work.. am I allowed to stay at home (and not take a holiday for it)?

According to the news, they are asking people to stay out of the parks now - danger of falling branches and trees.

The pic shows a look out of my apartment window around noon. Since it stopped snowing for a while now and I had the impression the worst was over, I decided to go for a bit of a drift with my car. Mistake – I didn't even make it properly out of the driveway and it took myself plus 4 (!) neighbours to get the thing back in the garage, after some 15 mins of digging, pushing and shoving.

You wanted to go for a drive in this weather ?!?!? Silly boy. I learned to drive in a blizzard in Wyoming and my car is staying in the garage until this crap is cleared, especially after watching the morons poor souls who can't drive in the winter on Friday...

I have just been to the Munich dog show and had a drive around. I have never seen so many cars that are buried under so much snow. The snowploughs have also pushed snow up to window level on most cars. I saw one couple using childrens sand shovels trying to dig their car out

. Best of luck to anyone with a car parked up on the street in Munich!

You may want to lift the windscreen wipers up so that they don't freeze onto the window overnight. Also, covering the window with something means not having scrape the ice off.. gets you off to the mountains faster

This is near my flat, the road where I live in

Yayyy! Loving the snow.
I miss the sun and beer gardens too, but I needed to see a proper dumping over snow over Munich before the winter was allowed to finish.
This was quite suitable.
It can stay all white and pretty for a little longer, and then summer can roll on in knowing that winter did it's job properly. Good work.

Not sure who they claimed to be called, but it came out originally as a white label and was actually Stock Aitken and Waterman. ** shudder **
