One thing I like here is that we (usually) have real seasons. Real winters and real summers. Not like back home.
It's snowing again. And it's purdy. But then I don't have to go to work today

One tree down in the backyard. But at least it's not the big one I was worried about - that one is just swaying dramatically in the wind.

a min ago it was so bright and sunny now its a bloody blizzard here in giesing!

same thing happened here near Frankfurter Ring about half an hour ago. The blizzard seems to have passed now (probably on to Giesing) since the sun is shining again.

Ooh, Monday looks like a good day to get out and about, sunny and -2 degrees C. Managed to slip out the house yesterday morning and take a walk through the woods - it was Traumhaft

this year's the first time i'm with the anti-snow brigade. i've wrecked my knee and mrs grazz is preggers, so neither of us can ski. bring on biergartenzeit!! longterm wetter.de forecast has temps in the mid-teens by end of next week. however, anything further out than 3 days can be very iffy. fingers crossed!

On a side issue, my gyn said a pint of German beer a day during pregnancy would not harm the baby, so Mrs. G. can sip along. My kids were both big strapping babies in spite of regular Weißbier intake.

I don't mind too much. Cold winters tend to be followed by warm summers. I'd be more concerned if the weather was nice.

Counting the days

tonight I dug a path to my bbq, on the other side of the yard and cooked some nice juicy steaks. It was so worth it but can't wait for this damn snow to leave so no digging is required for a good meal!

Yes, that was last year, and it was absolutely beautiful to see. Trying to walk along the lake was something else, though!

Thanks for the link, HGL, those are some remarkable photos. As the Snopes account of the photos explains, the ice is a result of high winds which blew water from Lake Geneva onto land. That's why the tops of the trees don't have any ice on them at all.
