A quick update for the other Northerners... the above ground section of the U6 is working fine, and the Garching <-> Garching Hochbruk buses are getting through too.
benpanter
I mentioned this on the other thread, but just in case anyone cares the surface section of the U6 is running fine, as are the busses from GH to Garching.
Whisky-Emporium
S2 Markt Schwaben to Erding at around 10:00 this morning.

Anywhere where someone not in munich can look at current pics/webcams of the snow? Sounds like more than I can imagine.

No wonder trams aren't running.

This is the view looking south at Goethe-Institut on the tram line 20/21 (Dachauer strasse). No sign of any tracks - they're covered in over a foot of snow...

Okay. I give up. I've been all over the MVV site and I can't find any info about the current UBahn situation. EXTREMELY frustrating. Could someone please tell me where to find out which lines are running and which not? I'd appreciate a link for future reference.
Joank2001
hi, can anyone tell me if the S/bahn are running on the route from Hauptbahnhof to Geltendorf ?
Thanks
Yeti
Just came in from Geltendorf, the DB have had diesels with snow-clearing equipment running in and out on that line so you'll be able to get to Geltendorf no problem.
benpanter
@bookmanjb: Is there anywhere other than the Studentenstadt <-> Garching Hochbruk that is above ground? That bit is working fine, or was three hours ago anyway. On my travels I also saw U3's happily trundling about, so that line was also fine. Regarding an info centre for this, sorry, no idea.
Kay
Are you hoping not to have to come in to work tomorrow? smile.gif
Do you live within walking distance of an MVV bus route? dry.gif

If you have answered "yes" to both questions, then you had better start praying for more snow because the buses are running again. rolleyes.gif

JoanK2001 - try reading the thread before asking such questions.. this may sound rude, but what's the point of me posting constant updates if you don't read it. It says S8 Geltendorf etc is running.

Translation - the following SBahns are running again (see above list for names & details). The regional DB trains are running and are stopping between Freising and Moosach (as the S1 isn't), and stopping at all train stations in between.

There are still problems with tram and bus services.
NOFXmike
thanks for the updates...I'm not sure if I want my train to work tomorrow or not, laugh.gif

My job will probably be damn difficult in this mess anyways...
doesn't appear my train is up and running yet, though...S-5 Seefeld (so to Herrsching would need to be going)

Well being a lush I was coming into town and hoping to attend TT Tuesday but maybe not biggrin.gif

I took the train from Munich to Regensburg today (and on to Straubing). It started a little behind schedule, but otherwise there was no problem whatsoever. So I guess getting to Munich from Regensburg shouldn't be a problem either.
canuck
I just saw the first 53 Bus of the day going down Hohenzollernstrasse. So Bus services are slowly starting. The Trams however, don't have a chance to be on a normal sched tomorrow.

You still have two whole days until then... There isn't that much snow where you live, is there? unsure.gif
perdido
Regensburg is not the problem Its the DB. Its been my experience here that when bad weather occurs the last train for the night cannot be counted on. So a good night at the TT Tuesday might be hampered for me by this expected cancellation.
Small Town Boy
The news had information on the expected public transport situation in Munich tomorrow:
  • S-Bahns should mostly be running as normal, but expect delays
  • Buses running about an 80% service
  • U-Bahns running as normal
  • Trams likely to be out of operation.
Apparantly the problem with the trams is that branches have fallen onto the overhead cables. The electricity thus had to be switched off while the branches were removed. As well as powering the trams themselves, the electricity also heats the rails, keeping them free of snow and ice. Because the power had to be switched off, snow and ice built up.

The details provided above assume no further snowfall, which could be rather optimistic, judging by the weather forecast.

Good luck with your travels smile.gif

should be current for regular trains, they promise to update it again at 5 am. Too bad the BOB doesn't have such a thing, as I need to get out to the other end of the Tegernsee tomorrow.

Hope that I can land in a couple of hours. This internet from the airplane thing is great! Now it will be great if I can get from the airport to home!

Darn it - I cannot find the link to find out the current MVG tram status (still half asleep slurping coffee) can anyone help me here? Are the trams running?
slurp slurp.

Anyone know if the SBahn is running this Monday morning?
Showem
If you need to know if things are running in your neighbourhood, you are probably better off phoning them and asking, rather than waiting for a web update.

I expect it will be tough to get through this morning on it.

Here's the latest from http://www.br-online.de/bayern3/verkehr/ve...ssen/index.xml:

Service Bahn:

I'm at work. The S5 is running. I just took it.

Good luck!
jackalope
does anyone know if the S-bahns are running today?
skoolboyerror
I got to work ok, seems like everything is running ok. Not as quick as usual but still running smile.gif

Although I did have to jump through 1 and a half feet of snow to get out of my flat this morning sad.gif
borracuda
I took the S7 this morning. No problems, it arrived on time even.

On the S-Bahn-München Site it says the following S-Bahn lines are working:

=> S 8: Geltendorf - Pasing - Hauptbahnhof - Ostbahnhof - Flughafen
=> S 7: Ostbahnhof - Höllriegelsgreuth
=> S 6: Tutzing - Pasing - Hauptbahnhof - Kreuzstraße
=> S 5: Herrsching - Pasing - Hauptbahnhof - Holzkirchen
=> S 4: Ebersberg - Ostbahnhof - Hauptbahnhof - Pasing - Mammendorf
=> S 2: Petershausen - Hauptbahnhof - Ostbahnhof - Erding
=> S 1: Flughafen - Laim - Hauptbahnhof - Ostbahnhof

It's now easier to say which S-Bahns are NOT running. According to the TV, only the S7 between Wolfratshausen and Hölligriegelkreuth (sp?) is still out of commission.

just to be clear as i am flying tomorrow the S1 from Moosach to the airport is running... Other wise i will book a taxi

Eh?!

No trains at all were running inbound from Rosenheimer Platz this morning around 7:30 am. They had/(have?) an "Oberleitungsschaden" at Isartor, so nothing to do with the snow. Trains appear to be running again now, but w/ heavy delays.

Eleanor Rigby
Rosenheimerplatz 8:15 everything (well the S5 at least) running on schedule.

Maybe you should sleep a little longer Oli wink.gif

Last night the S8 was fine. This morning, it took 50 minutes for the usual 20 min journey sad.gif wish I could sleep in as long as you ER tongue.gif
Owain Glyndwr
the S-Bahns running into to town seemed to being having problems, it took about 15 minutes to get from Rosenheimerplatz to Hauptbahnhof. The trains kept stopping in the tunnels. U-Bahns (U2 and U8) appeared to be having problems as well, since so many people were waiting on the platform but they were running and I had no problems, got on straight away.
pootle
Dont get me started on the trams!

Only a 15 and 25 running, and a great ersatz bus - stood waiting for 40 minutes! It didnt even have to go far, just from St. Veit Str to MaxWeberplatz

Its like being back in the UK, but with better beer

Dare I say that you probably could have walked it in that time? But I know how it is, you are waiting for the bus, figuring it must be coming soon, so you don't walk.
thejarvii
Are the buses all running as scheduled? (with delays of course)
