Lush is a UK-based store that produces and sells hand-made bath products, soaps, body lotions and cosmetics. The first store was in the United Kingdom but now they have more than 185 shops worldwide. They are similar to The Body Shop, but many consider them better. None of their products are tested on animals.

And this month they come to Munich!

Lush will be opening up at Sendlingerstrasse 27 on at 10am on Thursday 9.Mar.2006.

For information in English see: www.lush.co.uk

For the German store see: www.lushonline.de

UrbanAngel
Lush is opening?! Oh boy!
I can't stand the stink of the shop but I really like their products, funky chunky soaps with bits of pineapple in and the like.

Planet Moni - why, are Lush products not tested on animals either?
Gen
have to say, the UK site looks a damn sight more professional than either the international or the German sites.

i think that the selection at body shop has gone down hill in the past years, ie the shelves at the shop near frauenkirche always look half empty (my opinion only). there is one product i still buy at body shop.
lush on the other hand is perfect for presents and bubble bath. i use their hair bar and my hair is happy.
i don't buy any skin scare or make up products at either shop so i cannot comment on their animal testing policy. i don't know about lush.
Katrina
Migraine-incuding shop. I like those shampoo bars though.

my favorite soap: rock star - smells great! smile.gif

Grrrr!

Looks like I'll have to avoid Sendlingerstraße from now on, the stink emitted from those shops makes me feel ill.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY! Finally!

Lush rocks!

Isn't Sendlingerstrasse 27 the address of Starbucks?

Does that mean Starbucks has closed at that address, or is the same address shared by two establishments?
Topsy
innit?
that'll be a bit of an odd mixture of smells, then unsure.gif
Arwen
cool! finally they are coming to munich! smile.gif
looking forward to it, just love that stuff!
Natalia
Any info on whether they'll have some super opening offers? Loved their shop in Berlin.
Andy101
oh I miss those soap bars too smile.gif It is great since i love soap more than gel wink.gif I am more afraid of the space that i have on the bath tub (for placing those soap) rather than my bank account LOL... Their price is reasonable by the weight.

Noooooooooo... Lush is different from bodyshop since it has much more natural stuffs inside compared to Bodyshop. I have forgotten what preservatives that they use in Lush lotions, creaam and gel though.
UrbanAngel
Natalia - I looked on their (rather crap) German website, and there's no info on the opening day; just the time, so I don't know if anything special is planned. You could try phoning, I guess..
koala
@Ed. Bob - It will be next door to Starbucks.

Hang on a bit, I have the Lush Newsletter in my email.

There is an opening offer.

GRAND OPENING LUSH MÜNCHEN, SENDLINGER STR. 27: DO 09.03.2006, 10:00 UHR

Summary: Many of the products made by Lush have names based on the song texts. Anyone going into the shop on opening day and naming three songs (bring the text of the songs with you as proof) will get a goodie. Bring an instrument and sing one of your songs to get an upgraded (more expensive) goodie. cool.gif

We can also do it in groups. anyone up for it (after work hours)?

this is a great idea! I am up for it! smile.gif

When I saw this thread title, I thought it was an imperative directed at me, as in, "Lush, open a store in Munich!" ph34r.gif

So their products are not safe...worrying...

It's a perfect location really...you can lounge in the Starbucks next door, put your feet up and have a Grande caramel extra sugar chai tea latte, maybe read a magazine while the women peruse over soap, bath bombs and magical potions for a half hour.

Sorry, I walked into the lush shop once to by some bath bombs for "a friend"...

I almost choked on the smell. its too sickly in there for me

Have fun kids, and happy singing

This is too easy! Some examples:
Lush Gorgeous - Filthy Gorgeous
Lush Bohemian Soap - Bohemian Rhapsody (or Bohemian Like You )
Lush Fever Massage Bar - Fever
UrbanAngel
Didn't Garbage do a song called Lush?
planetmoni
the only downside of a lush shop here, is that going into a lush store in london (or anywhere else) is not that special anymore... but i guess my suitcase will leave me more space for other stuff :-)
Dame Edna
I love their products so long as someone else ventures into the smelly haze to get them for me. Hope that smell doesn't overpower the coffee enjoyment next door. Somehow I can't imagine that mixing too well. Note for suggestion box - wind sock outside to forwarn Starbucks guest when sitting downwind. cool.gif
HartlepoolLad
Cool!! Have also been waiting for one to open here!!! I also love the freshness of some of their soaps! smile.gif May be tempted to change back from shower gel...
A selection of them in the bathroom also makes the room smell so much fresher! smile.gif

Ohhhh. I must have this one. Are the body butters any good? Damn it- WHY haven't I gotten paid yet? I'll be right by Sendlingerstrasse today and am oh-so in the mood to spend my money on things like soaps and lotions. sad.gif
planetmoni
i use their body butters and i love them jenny
koala
The body butters/massage bars are good. The Fever one doesn't agree with my nose at all (too much jasmine).
Jenny L
mmm. I love the idea of body butter. I like sandalwood or even patchouli if it isn't too strong.
Derekbeggs
I love lush,
My wife loves lush,
We go to lush in every country we visit.
We spend a lot of money there.

My German wife loved lush so much that she went for a job in the munich shop. The manager that did the interview knew nothing about Lush Times, or of the promotions mentioned at the beginning of this thread. She was turned down by the self proclaimed 'Übermutter' in favour of a non english speaking, no experience 19 year old because. This is a direct quote.

'you have a son and he might be ill, you will be off work and I have a bad feeling about that"

She wouldnt have minded if someone had had more experience, or just that they told her, sorry, we have found someone better. But to discriminate on the grounds of ones family is just wrong.

Still its their loss, so no sour grapes.
I still love lush
She still loves lush,
and we will order it from the uk the same as before.

We contacted the UK head office and the general manager was shocked ' can they do that?' were his exact words.

Yet again another fantastic example of a great company with great ideas ruined by unoriginal people with no more clue about what makes a business run than they have about reducing their unemployment.

Rant complete. ph34r.gif

PS. The new manager of the shop did not know about this the day before the opening, one might imagine she might.

Sorry to hear that above story Derek- if you said that (not just thought it) in Australia, it would be illegal and grounds for a complaint at the some sort of employment commission, for which you would end up being paid compensation!! In Switzerland I was once told that they couldn't pay me the salary I asked for as I was "a woman"...

Anyway, hope that they end up with good staff over time (bad staff don't always last and that includes managers...) so we can have a positive shopping experience there.
Jenny L
Ok, not to change subjects- but I just bought the Amazonian massage bar thingy and it's Fab-u-lous. I am addicted to it and have been rubbing it on myself constantly since I bought it last night. unsure.gif

I thought the store people were alright. My little sales girl gave me a free bar of soap and a free sample of their crazy shampoo. (though this might be because of the obscene amount of money I dropped in the short time I was there).

The only negative experience I had was that as I was sniffing all the bath bombs (in a perhaps overly-excited manner), a piece of bath bomb broke off and went up my nose. Needless to say it burned and fizzed like hell and everything smelled and tasted of jasmine for the next couple of hours. unsure.gif
Allershausen
Summer breeze, makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind biggrin.gif
Jenny L
biggrin.gif It wasn't actually very funny. The smell was so strong it almost made me sick. You might say it's my own fault for sticking my nose too close or inhaling too deep- but I blame Lush. If they made their bath bombs completely round and without that weird seam in the middle of them, then the whole incident would have never happened. rolleyes.gif
