Right then,
Let me tell you how it was.
For years we have been walking up in the twilight to this lonely Alm hidden beneath Brauneck. You lugged up a toboggan, just 30 minutes from the car park at Brauneck ski artea, very near to the Seilbahn hut. Sometimes you'd have to jump out of the way when a sledge wizzed by by like minded ones. Also the odd snowmobile carrying beer up to the hut.
When you got inside it was a bit like stepping back in time. Half asleep old hound lying on the floor with arthritis in his poor legs, but a friendly old thing nonetheless. Outside is a bird table frequented by the small tits who love to feed on it. The owner was a somewhat miserable old Bavarian lady who weirdly made it great to go there. Zero commercialism and she would moan in Bavarian "Kein Leit Heit" (Keine Leute Heute) when it was empty. You could drink a Jagertee and look at the st6uff badgers and foxes lining the walls and hear deep Bavarian dialiects from the odd local who wandered up there for a quick one.
Then aided by the warm fug of alcohol in your brain you could speed down the path, taking care to stop where the stream crossed the path in two places or you'd bugger your sledge. Then down to the bottom to the car after a brill trip.
Now it is all changed.
They have cut all the trees down nearby so it is better lit, but now it looks just like a normal mountain hut. They have connected it to the main piste so you can go there and walk in in your ski boots. It is no longer a quiet place. You can sit on benches and look over the hills. Yes it is in a way nice now, but what was there in the past was totally non commercial. Then you could hear ancient Bavarian music which when heard elsewhere sounds shit but in this atmosphere seems to fit well.
Now yoiu can listen to Bon Jovi and Madonna's latest hit. The modern world has come to this place. It has lost something.
We are now looking for small non commercial alms hidden away in the Tegernsee area which only locals really go to. If anyone can tell me if they still exist please Pm me about them. I'll be discreet about them. You may notice I have never shared this secret place until now, but now the world and his wife knows about it everyone may as well go there.
The modern globalised world creeps everywhere.
