Germany and the Winter Olympics

But no one I know even watched (much).

If England had done so well at any sporting event the papers would be full of it and people would be offering their virgin daughters (and Brill Cream advertising contracts) to each victorious hero.

I can't believe a top-of-medal-table finish is such a non-event here.

The commentators on Eurosport seemed to really enjoy that Germany did well.
My co-workers talked about it a ton.
People I was in contact with thought it was a big deal, anyhow.

Tbh, the winter Olympics just doesn't do it for me. It's like a couple of countries in Europe and North America. Not much of a world event.

I disagree that it's a non-event.
My German co-workers and my German friends and relatives have been yapping on about it non-stop.
Fair play to the Germans they've done well.
It's not just been televised on German Eurosport but on our national telly channels too. Read the German newspapers/magazines and you'll see it's a big deal for us.
AFAIK it has not been televised much on the BBC unless you have Interactive telly.
