Please dont merge, this is specific to automatic transmissions!!

I need to rent a car with an automatic transmission for 1 day (weekday) in March. I can drive a stick, but I cant drive here with my US license so my mother or aunt will have to drive and neither can drive manual. Manual is not an option and weekend day is not an option.

I have searched the following sites National, Avis, Europcar, Sixt, Sixti, Hertz, Holiday Auto, Enterprise, Expedia, Travelocity etc... The cheapest I can find with automatic is around 90 euro for 1 day - this is outrageous.

Does anyone have a tip or local rental place here in Munich where I can rent an automatic for a reasonable price.

Thanks in advance

I guess this is an obvious question, but why can't you drive with your US license? Just pretend you are a tourist. The big chains all take US licenses.

I dont want to risk being stopped for any reason. I am quite sure that if they do stop you and you hand them your US license, they will also ask for your passport, see your resident permit and then???

It is just not worth the risk for me as I want to stay here forever smile.gif

I think it's a pretty slim risk. How many years have you been here?

There is a Budget/Thrifty location near the airport (in Schwaig) which we rented an Audi from recently which was reasonably priced (of course, we took a weekly rate). There was a sign posted that automatic transmissions were 9€ extra per day. I'm not sure what the total cost would be for a one day rental but you might want to check it out. I'll be out that way later today, I'll inquire if you want me to.
