Hi, is anyone using O2 surf@home or something similar?
Is it any good? I like the idea b/c I don't need a land line, so to get one just to get DSL seems crazy. And there is no broadband cable internet in my area yet.
Thanks,
Nick

if you have no need for a landline or DSL line and are an occasional user then it's a fair deal, but the more you use it, the pricier it gets. 40 hours/month costs €31 which is only 10 hours a week, and then at speeds of (up to) 384Kbits/second, a third the speed of the slowest DSL. Note that it is only available where O2 has UMTS coverage which is very limited outside of city centres...

I'm, using it and find it very good cause you don't need a separate telephone line etc.
I would check the availability 1st as it works in the living room @ the front off our flat but not @ the back.

As YL6 says, it's not cheap; 10 hours a week is not much time at all. Full, flat-rate DSL would cost only cost €15 a month more (€16 for the landline and €30 for the DSL). Unlimited surfing time, much higher speeds, plus the landline, on which you can use the Vorwahl numbers for cheap, cheap telephone calls - much cheaper than the o2 Homezone prices.

Thanks, I guess I have to think about it some more. I wish my area would just get cable broadband already!

This is more than a year old. Do we have any updates in the o2 internet service? As far as I understand it's a lot faster now and you get a flat rate for all national numbers and O2 mobiles. However you are not allowed to used the vorwahl numbers. But I heard you are also not allowed to use them with Alice for example. How would you compare O2 to Alice or Arcor? Thank you all for any insight.

Hi there, I would like to find out too about Arcor and Alice and any other options. I subscribed to
T-com's Call and Surf. The line was activated after 2 weeks but 2 days later, it got cut off. Now because of the T-com strike plus the 'excellent' customer service hotline where I'd actually waited for an hour to talk to someone and having the line cut off, I'm desperately in need of an alternative. Heard good reviews about Arcor and Alice from my colleagues using it. Anyone care to share?
