Hi, it would be helpful if you could give some indication of prices either on this website or your own.
Verbatim
I'm not surprised that there are no prices. You can't expect movers to pull estimates out of thin air; to give you a quote they need to know the volume, type of goods, destination, etc. Movers' quotes are usually free, anyway, so if you think a price is too high you can always contact someone else.

Hi,

I'm relocating from munich back to good old blighty and was wondering if any one has used Gosselin International removals and what your experience has been with them?

Thanks

Haven't used them (yet), but they did get back to me promptly with a written quote and lots of info - very helpful. I may end up using them in the next few weeks, if so I'll let you know how I get on

I ended up using Gosselin to move my stuff from Dublin to Munich and was very happy with their service, especially since this was my first time using a moving company.

It was around 4 cubic meters or 37 boxes which I chose to pack myself. The price was cheaper than around 5 other companies I contacted, and they were very efficient in responding with exactly the information I needed. I was in touch with them a few times and they always were helpful, got back to me promptly and had no problem speaking English when necessary.

They were more or less on time in collecting the stuff (the delay wasn't their fault) and exactly on time with the delivery. An all-round positive experience!

My contanier is STILL sitting in Hamburg with a very delicate, very old piano in it. Gosslein agreed to pick it up and deliver it here. Then a couple days later they said they couldn't since there's no ramp and Steinway-Haus has no loading dock. The shipment would have to be handled by a mover: ConFern. The ConFern guy called me, said he'd mail papers I had to sign and that was the end of it. Never heard from them again.

I called Gosslein again last Thursday. Ummm... nada. I was promised a return call later that day. Still haven't heard back. Meanwhile the container is sitting in Bremerhaven and has so far cost me around €1000 in storage charges.

I am not a happy camper.

woof.

We are using Gosslein next week. We had zero problem with them getting back in touch with us. In fact, it was about 10 minutes after I sent an email that I had a response. I will post how the moving experience was! Price, by the way, is very good!

Gosselin handled my move (on this end) from the States to Munich and they were wonderful. Very friendly and professional. I had absolutely no issues with how they did their jobs. I'd definately recommend them as a moving company.

So - nobody has answered the question about costs.
Simple costs, like Euro/Kg + Euro/Qm

This will help us with the less simple question: Is it better to sell our stuff, or ship it?

So, for each item, we simply compare the value if sold, and the cost to buy it again (if needed),
vs. the cost to ship (based on weight/size).

this is the quote I got for the minimum they will charge - i doubt you can extrapolate this directly into price times volume as stated but it gives you an idea.

for a volume of max. 1 m³ € 1.850,00

Gosselin answered all of my questions very promptly, and the movers were punctual and professional. They originally gave me a quote for 330kg. The actual weight turned out to be a lot less, and they charged me only for the actual weight - what a relief!

may we ask what the final price was?

I'm surprised that adverts are still showing on TT for this company. I had my things stored with Gosselin in Gröbenzell and then in their (or at least a...) warehouse north of Munich when they moved their offices to Petuelring. The German branch of this Belgian group went into liquidation in 2007 and I had to arrange to get my things back from Herlitz who had taken over/taken on the remains of Gosselin's business in Munich. Perhaps Editor Bob could check this info out and update/remove the Gosselin info page on TT?
