Hi There,

We are considering moving to Wolfratshausen and are looking for some information. Unfortunately we do not know anyone who lives there but it looks like an OK place to live. I was wondering if anyone on TT actually lives there or has lived there in the past, has spent time there or personally knows someone who lives in the area. If so, please post your knowledge and experiences of the place (good and bad) to help us make a decision on whether it is the place for us. We are interested in hearing about transport links (especially in winter months), expats, Kindergartens etc.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

It depends on a lot of things. Where is work? How old are your children? What do you like to do for fun? The area around Wolfratshausen is breathtaking, I LIVED near there last year. However beauty can only go so far.

The biggest negative for me was time and how much I spent on Petrol. I traveled 30 minutes four times a day, to take my children to The English Montessori school in Laim. The one in Wolfratshausen was a joke. We lived very close to the S7 however I had to allocate 2 extra hours for travel if I wanted to go into the city. There is an International Womens Club in the city that provides many groups of interest i.e. tennis, book club, bridge, scrapbooking, museum outtings and more. I found this club very fulfilling, I needed some adult interaction.

I now live on the outskirts of Munich and I love it here. I never thought I would be able to say that. Life is good even if it takes 3 hours to dig out my car. Actually It probably took someone in Wolfratshausen 6 hours. That was the other thing, when Munich would get snow flurries we down in the country would get a blizzard. I hated that. It all comes down to your interests. There are many people that live there and love it. I was not one of them.

Time is Happiness!!!

We're thinking of moving to Wolfratshausen and we seem to like the area but I was wondering if anyone else lives there or lived there and what your experiences have been. Thanks!
