Internet forum flouncing

Gauging opinions on *real* flounces

Toytown Germany > Discussion forum > Themes > Metachat

Webster's dictionary defines a Flounce as "a strip of decorative, usually gathered or pleated material attached by one edge, as on a garment or curtain."

I didn't even know the internet concept of Flouncing and mini-Flouncing existed until recently, via Toytown naturally.

While I was highly amused by the TT Flounce Off and am looking forward to anyone that can beat Kza's fake but flounce, I'd like to guage peoples opinion's on *real* flounces.

So go on - discuss smile.gif

Woohoo I voted first I win!

I don't know - I think it's pretty obvious from the flounce if it's a final rant, or someone trying to convey a point (no matter how badly it comes across). To flounce, or not to flounce, that is the question. Not to would certainly require a lot of self-restraint. I've never flounced but I've certainly threatened it (somewhere else)! Didn't help really, so learned my lesson that you can't get too serious about certain things.

jml. More options please:

eg.

Q1: I find it hilarious. Reflects badly on the individual, but good amusement for the bitter, cynical observer.

Q3: Laugh.

Ah no luck, can't edit the polls.

@UA - yeah, you can tell by specific flounces but I'm trying to guage an overall sense of how flouncer and their flounces are generally perceived. smile.gif

I'd vote for Ben's choices, too smile.gif
Although I admit to being on the verge of flouncing last week, I managed to restrain myself.

@topsy
but only just, eh love?
Topsy
it was hard...
but the memory of recent flounces (on other boards, not just TT) and the general hilarity they caused just helped me to hold back smile.gif

Does admitting on a public forum of being on the "the verge of flouncing" count as a partial flounce? ohmy.gif

I'd love to see a Reverse flounce if such a thing exists - the I made a mistake and am back variety. That could be sweeet *if* done properly. biggrin.gif

@Exile: Nah, not Partial exactly ... Pre-Flounce Threat? ph34r.gif

PS: don't do it Topsy, I'll have to say no, wait, stay, cajole you into coming back by forwarding you interesting posts and then I'll feel like a twat. I'd do it mind cause I *heart* Topsy but I'd feel like a twat. dry.gif -- laugh.gif

Should've had the option: A flounce is a made-up word that Flye used once to try to prove a point

I dunno, what do you reckon? Shall we have a poll on it?

I'm over it now, btw smile.gif

jml is our flouncing councillor.

Potential Flouncer: "Don't push me. I am going to do, I am really going to flounce"
jml: "You don't want to do that, think of the people who would miss you and the one that would laugh"
PF: "who? nobody replies to my posts, except to tell me to use search"
jml: "I would, we all would, I really liked your article on U-Bahn door closing times the other week"
PF "eh! You did?"

... and so on
