Hi folks

Ask your mommy. You're too young to sign up yourself.

There's a wealth of information on the site here on all aspects of getting phone & internet connections, from the best options available to what you need to get it. Use the info which has already been provided. If there are specific questions about a particular aspect then sure but a blanket request without doing any legwork at all is somewhat unfair on your part.

You speak german?

If so you can order a phone connection online with T-Com here. There are other service providers but I'm not going to list them all for you.

DSL connection you can get from any number of providers. Cheapest is probably Tele2.

You can order both a landline and DSL completely online, you just have to be at home to open the door when the geezer comes to switch the phone line on.

IMHO in Munich the best service you will get is from Mnet, they belong to the City of Munich, SWM, beat Tcom and the rest on price and save you the hassle of dealing with Tcoms extra unhelpful service centre, (great when you are buying something from them, but totally ignorant when you have a problem)

they have an office in the SWM office at at Marienplatz, just go underneath Mplatz to the S and UBahn and you will find their office, they also have staff there that speak reasonable English if you are new here.

Or checkout TT advertisers who are especially geared up to help non-Germans...

I hate T-Com with a vengeance.
Just over a year ago I tried to sign up for DSL with 1&1.
T-Com actually refused to allow them to supply my service and sent me their own bill for DSL.
It took 3 months and far too much hassle before they cancelled my non-existent (T-Com) order and refunded the set-up costs which they just took out of my bank account along with my normal telephone bill costs.

In December last year I tried again and this time it went through without too much problem.

I do like 1&1, I use them for most of my internet services and they offer good value and a pretty reliable service.
I have the 6MB DSL but they now offer 16MB.

As to how to do it:
Have a good look around at what offers are current.
The PC magazines are usually full of this stuff.
After selecting, you just sign up - usually a minimum of 12 months contract.
You will receive a DSL Router and a few cables.
Do you already have ISDN or normal 'analogue'?
If ISDN, you can choose to keep this alongside ISDN, but the cabling is a little more complex.

This sounds easy and over simplified, but it really is that easy.

Another option if you are not a "Download Addict":
Take telephone and DSL line from T-Com. This will cost you 100 EUR installation/activation charges. Then for internet usage, you can buy prepaid cards from JustDSL.

Advantage - You are not bound to a contract and the cancellation notice period is 6 days.

I wonder how many different ways there are of asking the same question?
