Whatever happened after I left? I thought you were all supposed to KNIT ... And you still managed to be home before midnight? I'm lost. Maybe I should stick to bellydancing. And poor old Elem couldn't knit. It takes something to stop his needles twitching.
Elemmaciltur
Yeah, it was all Sid's fault that I didn't get anything done on that evening! laugh.gif

Anyhow, really enjoyed it...Frankie seemed to have had a good time, too:

Sidthespid
laugh.gif I remember he was too mashed to stand up - and hey - I think that's my weißbier!
Marilyn
Poor Frankie - was that before or after he got all of the knitting needles in him? At least he is in an advertising mood? rolleyes.gif
tinap
OK, I wasn't there when that picture was taken, and that Weissbier looks awfully full, just how many did you have, Sidsy? Or should I say Sudsy???
C_in_Märchenland
I don't know why I didn't get anything done that night – though maybe that's not completely the case since I finally started purling tongue.gif Probably the wine and talking were getting in the way of counting. I think I was home by about the same time as Marilyn – after a quick stop at the DVD shop, so we must have left by a bit after 11 – and there were still people happy to take our seats when we left. Who's coming on Sunday? I'm going to try, but not sure yet.
Sidthespid
Poor ol' Frankie, he did get stabbed a few times that night. I hope he's not peeing cherry seeds again... unsure.gif

I don't think any of us got anything done at all that night. As for Mr Bean Bear's front head, well it's looking decidedly wonky!

As much as I'd love to crash in on you all tomorrow, it looks as though you'll have some peace from my prattling, as I've got a date with Tom Hanks tomorrow *yay* (now there's a cheery thought) Chappy's taking me to see The Da Vinci Code, which I'm quite looking forward to seeing. Whenever we wander around old churches, I'm always pointing out to chappy the pagan symbols hidden in the architecture. I can often be heard, mumbling about some symbolic meaning of all the stuff splayed all over the ceilings (and the subtle carvings that are hidden everywhere) by the folk who kept alive the traditions of earlier pagan ways. At first, chappy used to get a bit miffed with me, as though I was some unholy incarnation of the anti-christ. Now he just grins and trundles along with me as we mooch through chapels and gardens willy nilly. Funny though, I think he always used to consider me quite a nut, humouring me to keep the peace.

Then this guy writes a fiction, inspired by similiar stuff, which then becomes a movie, which in turn triggers the broadcasting of umpteen documentaries about art history, biblical manuscripts, early gnostics and the truth about christianity through the dark ages, blah blah blah and suddenly, chappy is all interested and somewhat glued to a fascinating documentary about how the early church crapped all over the truth in order to oppress the masses and secure power. Now when I casually mention pagan symbology hidden in the art of churches and the equally divine female essence of spirituality, he looks at me like I'm not so bloody stupid after all. laugh.gif

So I'm looking forward to this good old fiction thriller, based on something that I've already got more than a passing interest in. Hurrah! Better than being subjected to that guy from Elm Street any day *shudder*. Do you know what? We booked the cinema tickets last weekend, then chappy brings me home the book two days ago *doh*. So, as well as having that flippin assignment to get done by Tuesday, I've now gotta get through the entire da vinci code before tomorrow evening! Argh! Though I must say, it's a jolly good read, the first five chapters flew by while chappy did breakfast this morning. I'm having to flit between my course text books and the novel (to keep from going insane), so the lines between symbology of nature worship and the calculations for relative molecular mass are becoming somewhat blurred. I'm having to remind myself whether I'm meant to be balancing chemical equations or my chakras.

It seems that I've just dribbled all over the thread with nonsense. oops. Well, at least you get some peace from me tomorrow night eh?!
C_in_Märchenland
Enjoy your date with Tom Hanks – I had my date with him last Sunday, which is why I didn't show up last Sunday. I won't say anything plot-wise, but I was just happy that TH's hair style didn't bother me nearly so much in the movie as it did when I saw previews for the movie...
Happy reading/movie-watching/grail-hunting (and to keep it all somewhat on topice, maybe someone should knit a grail-cozy). rolleyes.gif
Elemmaciltur
Well, Sid, you need to come hang out with us Escobar crowds more...coz we went and see it last Friday. This goes for you, too, C in M! ;-)

I liked the movie. Although it's a bit too Hollywoody, but I still find it a good interpretation of the book...and just seeing the book comes to life is great enough. And Audrey Tautou is always great...love her accent.

So, who are we expecting at Escobar tomorrow? C in M?? Anybody else??
TalksToStrangers
Sid - come on Sunday!!! I misssssssssssssssss you!!! tongue.gif
C_in_Märchenland
I *think* I'll be there today, but if it's raining at 5 like it's raining now, I might decide to stay in the dry indoors. jeez, holy water batman.
tinap
I won't make it today. I know I say this every week, but I am trying to find time on a Sunday. One of these weeks I will...
Marilyn
@C in M - you have the wrong TV - Movie, Your job is to stick your hand up from under the ground and scare the crap out of everybody, NOT put on signs like POW and ZAP. tongue.gif

I won`t be coming today - major, major, major here - unbelievable!

Now for a quick question has anybody seen the decorative thingys that fasten a sweater together instead of buttons anywhere here in Munich? I`m not sure but I think they are called froogs. You know those oriental things in place of buttons that hook one side of the sweater with the other. Whatever they are called has anybody seen them anywhere? I looked in Kaufhaus at stauchus but nope not there. Let me know o.k.
C_in_Märchenland
Are you sure my movie thing doesn't have something to do with setting people on fire or dumping buckets of pig's blood, or something like that tongue.gif Not that I've ever seen this (eponymous) movie or read the book that I speak of...
Marilyn, are the things you're talking about sometimes to be seen on these bavarian wool-type jackets, with the cool metal work? Kind of eye-and-hook thingies? I have no idea what they're called either (that's probably obvious). I haven't seen them anywhere either, but maybe at Ludwig Becks. They have a pretty nice knitting/sewing shop around the corner from the main dept. store.
C_in_Märchenland
Hi all – I walked out of Escobar this evening with a large dark green umbrella, which I hope belongs to one of you, cause otherwise that kind of means I stole it. If you're missing such an umbrella, PM me and I will bring it with me to gast on wednesday or escobar next sunday, or otherwise arrange to get it to you.
Had a nice time tonight.
Elemmaciltur
C in M, Well, the umbrella sure didn't belong to me.

Anyhooz, here's a view of the fichu/shawl I'm knitting (pinned out, of course):

Had a great time tonight...Great to see Marilyn there!

Tinap, Sidthespid, you sure need to get down to Escobar one of these weeks! It'll be so quiet next week when Bonnie isn't there anymore and Abra's also away. But you'll see me on Wednesday at Gast anyway!
Marilyn
I didn`t tip the barman at the Escobar - He forgot to wink wink.gif
@Elem - Just let me know come Wednesday who you want me to wave my magic fairy wand at for you. Old ladies can get away with more than you realize. Omar`s have a way of being so trustworthy - who do you know that didn`t believe what their grandmother`s were telling them? rolleyes.gif

At least we are on the same sinc as far as the header on this thread goes.

@Sara ( Bonnie) have a safe flight, and do e-mail us often.
@Abra also have a safe flight and say hello to all from us.

Had a great night even though I came in ticked off but with all of your help I was able to walk out of there feeling sane again. Except for the drunk man I encountered on the S-Bahn. But my wonderful mouth let him know that each of us has a place in this world, and his wasn`t on the same S-Bahn that I was riding. mad.gif Principles!!!
Sidthespid
Apparently there's another...

btw - I liked Tom Hanks' hair - easy to ruffle! tongue.gif
Elemmaciltur
Anchor post is now updated! Hope it's fine for y'all!
Marilyn
@Elem - there is just one little problem with the header. We start at 6:00 p.m. at the Gast not 6:30 p.m.
Elemmaciltur
Will get it corrected right away! Thanks for the info!
laura_k
aw bless yas.

C in M ,are you an accomplished shoplifter and can you offer any tips?
Marilyn
Please if you are definitely coming Wednesday night, for it sounds like a huge crowd that will attend, please either PM me or put it on the thread by Wednesday a.m. If we do have the crowd that is to be projected I might have to call in advance to reserve the adjoining table so we have enough seating. Can`t wait, HUMP DAY IS GETTING SO MUCH BETTER!!! @Sidsy or Sudsy, are you going to eat this Wednesday night or not. Please tell me, for if so, I might just have to dig into the old archieves for some more stories to tell. There are plenty there I just need a day or two to bring them on. @tinap - who or what are you going to appear as this wednesday?

Happy to see the header has already been changed for the correct time! Way to go ELEM!!! biggrin.gif
Marilyn
@Elem - that fairy`s wand just got bigger for your movement in the time slot. wink.gif Notice the one eye!
Marilyn
@ C in M I know what you tried to do, that umbrelly that you lifted, Perhaps is the Pequin coming to the Gast or is it Mary Poppins? tongue.gif
C_in_Märchenland
I can highly recommend lifting umbrellas, it's been perfect for keeping me dry (in addition to my usual LL Bean goretex) all day long. However I do feel a bit sorry for whoever I lifted it from, so please do come forward. (Perhaps it was someone who doesn't check the thread too often).
I'm looking forward to the Gast already, so count me in Marilyn.
Elemmaciltur
Marilyn, I know I don't have to tell you this, but yes, I'll be there this Wednesday!
Sidthespid
Edited to remove drivvle laugh.gif
laura_k
You mean they edited your post for lewd references

What is a spid?
Sidthespid
Nah - I edited it for waffling nonsense

I could do with a button like that for non-cyber conversations...

What's a spid?

A spid is a wonder with eight furry legs
A guardian of dew drops and sparkly webs
A writer whose words are spun from silk
A singer whose song is richer than milk
An artist weaving a web design
An engineer, somewhat smaller than mine

In short, a spid is another name
for arachne fred or eight legged jane
they clean up your corners
free them from flies
eat them all up
like meaty pies!

I could think of a nicer ending, but I'm meant to be answering questions on isotopes ph34r.gif
Elemmaciltur
I prefer Charlotte than Spid. laugh.gif
Marilyn
NaH - Charlotte was my pig`s name on the farm back in the olden days. ohmy.gif
Marilyn
@C in M you know what the umbrelly just might belong to ROZ for that is where she was sitting first before she slid over to us. Do you need her regular e-mail address. I have it if you don`t.
Sidthespid
laugh.gif Well I'm no Charlotte that's for sure, my singing's crap.

I'm just yer regular ol' Sydney

and before you ask, it was my grandfather's name!
C_in_Märchenland
@ Marilyn: shouldn't your pig should have been called Wilbur? wink.gif you know, just to fit it with the whole new england pig on a farm talking to spiders cliché. And yes, please give me Roz's email if you have it. I'll drop her a note and see if it's hers, so I can give up my life of umbrella crime.
I think you all passed a bug on to me sunday night – stayed home from work today, but did do a good bit o' stitching.
Elemmaciltur
Hahahaha, we're spreading the bug around. laura_k got it...and now you C in M!!! We're spreading the love!!! laugh.gif (Okay, I know, that sounded pretty shadey...but well, that's how I am! *LOL*)
Marilyn
All of my pig`s names I kept within the theme of things. For we had Charlotte, Wilbur, Porky, Ribs and Bacon. Now Charlotte and Wilbur were Mama and Papa, and Porky, Ribs, and Bacon were...
you guessed right...their little CHOPS . laugh.gif
TalksToStrangers
the bug lives on! this week: snb, next: world domination! you will all succumb to it's slimey goo!!!

eeks, sorry guys, bug is still bugging me... i need to get out more.
tinap
Awww, Bummer sad.gif

The Gast is just too good. They have asked us to find a new venue, as they serve so many customers, and have so many people swinging in for a quick bite on their way to a concert or wherever they are off to, that they need our space for people who move in and out quicker. It is unfortunate, as we have dearly loved our weeks at the Gast, but I can understand their point.

So, on to new places. Anyone have any ideas? I'll put on the ole thinking cap, but it might just be leer (my thinking cap, not my places).

tinap
Marilyn
I am very friendly with an Italian Restaurant that is large with a beer garden and they do have a back room, but it is in Rotkreutz, directly up from the u bahn entrance no walking what so ever. Let me know I am quite sure we can get it each and every wednesday night with no problems. It is called Mastriani`s
Sidthespid
I doubt that I'll be coming anymore anyway, though I might trundle along to Escobar sometime.
tinap
Oh Sidsy, why not? Everything alright?
Elemmaciltur
Sid, WHY??? You can't just do that!

Anyway, Rotkreuzplatz is a tad too far for me...I think we should find something that's central.
Sidthespid
Perhaps it's because you're all too lewd for me, my sensitivities are in shreds...

*kidding*

(i feel somewhat lost without my cock)

laugh.gif
Elemmaciltur
Hey guys! Say...are we interested in doing something for WWKIPD (World Wide Knit In Public Day)? It would be fun!!!
Marilyn
I went to the www for the Stoa in the westend and it looks very dark. Is there something nearer towards Hauptbanhof. That is more central. And try to get away from the Univ area where places won`t be so crowded each and every night. Let`s find out where each of us lives first and try to comes up with something, for each of us. I know that Carrie, myself, Roz, Simone, and tinap, all have to get into Hauptbanhof and then wait for another train to get home. So even if you say central there are 5 of us coming a ways. Let`s find out first where each lives and then go central depending on where we live, and not central to Munich.
Marilyn
I have come to the conclusion that everybody is trying to get "right down the street from themselves". Soooooooo, now let`s forget this idea entirely. We need a place. One that will give us 100% customer service, one that will give us bright lighting, one that will give us a variety of something to eat, one that will give us half price cocktails. And in return we will give them free advertising on our TT thread and our Web page. We will give them a steady and growing cliental each and every wednesday night, which by the way is a slow night in most places. And we will guarantee them that we are serious to spend our money in their place. SOOOOOOOO somebody out there is going to come through for us. I just know it. I have to go to the auditor today, which is around the vicinity of Koningsplatz, so my coming and going will be at looking at the entire menu, looking at the places to see if they are lit and then perhaps approach the management. We can all go together to try it out if we would like. But now I have a goal, to find one. Now I will get serious. biggrin.gif
Elemmaciltur
Well, Marilyn, that'd be great. Still, I think it's also good if we all could just keep our eyes open until next Wednesday. Just keep the suggestion coming.

I don't think that each of us is trying to get a place 'right down the street' from ourselves, but rather, it is just the fact that you tend to know more about your own neighbourhood and the places around it and thus suggesting that place. wink.gif
Marilyn
You are right! So now let`s venture outward - Maybe our senses just need a little exploration. Try something different. Maybe if we each try and approach something new, we will have perhaps looked into some possibilities that we didn`t even know were out there. Let`s face it differently. wink.gif
Marilyn
What I am trying to say is instead of searching "A" place, let`s find ""THE" place. Let`s face it, we were not happy with the TB, and the Escobar does have it faults, and both Tinap and myself found it very difficult to see at the Gast last week, to do any knitting what so ever, as the lighting was way different then the first three weeks, so instead of finding a place that we can sit at how about lets finding a place that we can enjoy, one that we wouldn`t have any problems with promoting it. After all we are promoting their businesses. Would you really promote the TB, nope, would you really promote the Escobar, nope, and now the sour note from the Gast, would you promote it either, nope. That`s our problem here we are just looking for a place to sit and put up with the crap. Now let`s just look for a place, that we would promote. biggrin.gif
