I still don't get this pocket book thing. Since when is a bag a pocket book? I understand the reference to pocket, but book? You see, that's what happens when you go throwing your ancestors' tea in the friggin harbour... you end up forgetting how to speak proper English loike laugh.gif
Marilyn
Dam we got rid of that Proper English when we threw over that tea. And we used our "pocketbooks" to save all of that hard earned tax. The way we New Englanders describe it is, a book is a menagerie - right - and a woman`s "bag" has lots of pockets. So what do women put in their "bags" a menagerie or a book. Thus the name pocketbook came about. So for us old folks, the ones who don`t like change, when purse came in, we decided, no way and stuck with the same old, same old POCKETBOOK! tongue.gif
Marilyn
Geeze I already have one side of my pocketbook finished, if I keep on going at this pace I`ll have it finished for my next Gast event all ready to show off. This is what happens when you go off like a herd of turtles biggrin.gif
Sidthespid
I'm onto an arm of the holy bear...
Nicky
You're making me jealous. How much yarn do I need for a bear?
tinap
Won't be there Sunday, we are out of town. tongue.gif
Elemmaciltur
Hahaha, talking about Teddy...here's my version (made to Roz's pattern), meet Frankie, the Frankenstein Teddy:

And yes, my sewing sux big time (ran out of the same yarn to stitch him up together, so used another red on him *LOL*)

Oh, yeah, I'll redo the anchor post and add the Gast group in for Wednesday, okay? (I'll also explicitly put in the post that English is the only acceptable language in that group)
Sidthespid
My dad was called Frank!!! He's lovely! Red too, which is a fab colour!

biggrin.gif

I had intended to crash in on you tomorrow at the Escobar, but I reckon I might still be struggling with this flippin chemistry. *ggrrr*

As for the mister bean bear, I'm on my second 50g ball of merino (he's a posh bear lol), but you'll need a little beige/cream for his hands and a squidge of black for his nose. He's also working out to be a somewhat expensive little bear. I reckon the next one might be an odds n sods bear!

Our elite bear troops could overwhelm this city you know. We could conquer local government, stealth invasion by bears.

laugh.gif
Nicky
@Elemmaciltur - thanks for arranging the anchor post. Will you be there on Wed.? Luv that Teddy!
Sidthespid
Ooh go on Elemmaciltur, be nice to see you there! I don't see why we can't all slip between the two groups like the hussies that we are wink.gif

I mean, it's just a difference in what people are after. One being mixed languages and the other being particularly for english speaking only. It also gives preferences for when people are best suited in the week or at the weekend. Then there's the difference in atmospheres, as the two venues are nothing alike.

I attempted to practice my dodgy German skills on the barman, but he replied in English! laugh.gif

btw - it isn't just the food that's tasty at Gast - the bar staff ain't bad either!
Marilyn
Not to mention the two pizza makers that are within three feet right behind us (italians), then there are the pasta makers not bad either, the rice guys I haven`t seen yet, the barman is nice. All MEN!
Marilyn
Opinions Please:
Seeing as how it is a TT Thread - Should Victor put explicity for English Speaking only on the thread? Please respond by either pm or on the thread. Thanks!
Elemmaciltur
Well, it wouldn't hurt to put in the anchor post that for the Gast meeting, only English will be spoken, because you know, there are still some odd Germans that will end up on Toytown anyway. Because otherwise they might think that both the Escobar and Gast will be exclusively English-speaking, which Escobar SnB isn't.

But yeah, I'll await your responses.

And yes, I'll try come in to Gast one of these weeks. I might as well come around this Wed. It'll be good to catch up with you lot!
Nicky
Can I venture to suggest that the main header be for the Gasteig - this is, after all, Toytown. Mentioning the language seems unnecessary. Enough if it's 'Toytown Stitch and Bitch Group'. At the end of the header perhaps an invitation to all Toytown Stitch and Bitchers to the 'International Group' which meets at the Escobar. Surely that would make everything clear? Hence two groups, the International Group meeting at Escobar, and a sub-group, Toytown Stitch and Bitch meeting at Gasteig.
Elemmaciltur
Okay, that sounds good to me. But I'll wait until next Thursday before modifying the anchor post though.
Marilyn
So far that idea of Nicky`s sounds good to me, it makes a lot of sense. And if we could wait until Thursday that would be fantastic. This is the week for screw ups if there is going to be any. Usually a place is great for the first two weeks and then you start to see it`s real colors shine through. If they treat us just like they have the last two weeks this Wednesday night then I don`t see any problem with posting it up on the thread. But it would be a shame to go through all of the work to post it and we become unsatisfied with the place due to their negligence, and we have to scout around for another place. So still put your opinions on the thread or PM me as to what Victor should put on the header of the thread. Remember this is our group, not just a few. And your opinion really does matter. Thanks. Victor would you also get the rest of the groups opinions tonight at the Escobar and post for us on the thread after the group meeting.
C_in_Märchenland
Hi all – looks like I won't be making it today. I am planning on being there Wednesday, but I'll pm you Marilyn a bit closer to the day to let you know for sure. smile.gif
C
BadDoggie
Yo, yo, yo, Knitta, please!

woof.
Sidthespid
Hey, we could do a sideline in knitting funky covers for boy racer seats laugh.gif
Elemmaciltur
That Knitta idea isn't bad! We should do something like that in Munich!
Sidthespid
I could start knitting belly dancing outfits laugh.gif
Marilyn
I will be able to attend the Gast this Wednesday night after all. My appointment got canceled. So we should have me, tinap (alias Paula - HA!HA!), Nicky, Sidthespid, Carrie perhaps, Victor if he can make it, and the surprise person that arrives around 8, right tinap. rolleyes.gif Anyone else that is coming either PM or put on the thread. Also this Wednesday we will determine how the header should read for our thread. Also directions are take the S bahn to exit Rosenheimer platz. Underground take the directions towards the Gasteig. At the top of the stairs go right until you come to an alley way go into that alleyway, there will be a cafe on your right and a little further will be Mastreo`s Italian cafe on your left. Keep going until you see the outside chairs with the words GAST over the top of the building. Go in the building and get a card from the front clerk, and we will be sitting on your left along the wall. I will be there as close to 6 as I can and I will look out for you as to where we are sitting. See ya there!
cinzia
I loved this, from the Knitta website:

QUOTE
Today, Knitta is a group of more than 10 ladies of all ages, races, nationalities, religions, sexual orientation… and gender.
tinap
No mystery guest at 8 this week. You guys are stuck with me. Will have to drag me out of there when the place closes, tongue.gif
Marilyn
Great than we`ll have either Tina or Paula, but just one suits us. biggrin.gif
tinap
Maybe Paula will be our 8:00 guest, ... laugh.gif
Marilyn
We are under the spell of the Gemini moon, meaning twins. So Paula, or Tina which one will come out first. And which one is the Evil. Will she be from 6 - 8 p.m. or from 8 - 9:30 p.m. I guess we`ll soon find out for tomorrow is wednesday, and the debut will begin. laugh.gif
Marilyn
Still waiting on responses for tomorrow night as to who I have to look out for at the Gast, for where we are seating. Either PM me or place it on the thread so I will know.
Elemmaciltur
Marilyn, I'm still not 100% sure, but I think I should make it.
Nicky
I don't know exactly what time I can come, as I don't know how much work I have to do and I need to go shopping - Thursday is a public holiday. But I will at least call by and say hallo to everyone, as I haven't been for so long. How long do you usually stay?
Sidthespid
I have to bugger off early as there's a documentary I want to see that supports my current course, so I'll be sodding off just before nine. Wow, that's almost 3 hours of knitting though. Oh, hold on, perhaps 2.5 hours of drinking and 30 mins of knitting!

Marilyn, I wouldn't worry about looking out for folk, we're not far from the door and I reckon the knitting needles might give us away ph34r.gif

See you at six?
C_in_Märchenland
I'm planning on being there – probably between 6 and 630 smile.gif
Marilyn
As far as looking out for people - I guess the old saying is: once a Mother you are in it for your life. Victor get 100%, and Nicky will be glad to see you whatever time you pop in, and Tina will be there from 6:00 p.m. and Paula will be there from 8:00 p.m., and Sidthespid will definitely be there at 6:00 p.m. but must leave early, and where is my little lost sheep Carrie? God this sounds like Christmas, Mother waiting frantically for her family to arrive.
Marilyn
AH! My little lost sheep has been found biggrin.gif
Sidthespid
Okay, so I got confoosed with Brit time again - programme not at 9 - now at 10! So you got me a bit longer tongue.gif

Elemmicaltur (I always have problems remembering how to spell that) - Do come if you can, it'd be great to see you again. I'm a hobbit who needs some knitting support, or an English pisshead who needs a drinking buddy more like. Much as I get on with these Americans, they just don't drink like the Brits. Okay, so you're not a Brit... but there's female logic for you laugh.gif
Elemmaciltur
@Sidthespid, maybe it's time for you to resort to calling me Elem or Ele...when you consider yourself a hobbit, you should be able to remember my name, for it's actually Elvish...but alas, hobbits don't necessarily speak the high tongue of the elves! laugh.gif No, I'm no POM, but yes, I have female logic as well as intuition in myself. And no, I don't want to drink myself silly tonight like the Brits, since I still have a date after SnB at 9 p.m. tongue.gif
Sidthespid
You have a date? Woohoo! I hope it's with someone suitably dishy.

I'm assuming it is that kind of date... not a date with the rent collector or a loan shark or even more tragic like me, a date with David Attenborough laugh.gif
Elemmaciltur
@Sidthespid, well, let's just say that it's a date, but I won't go into details here...will bring photos with me tonite though, so be there, or be square!
Sidthespid
I like to think of myself as having more depth than a square. More like a cube. Only, much rounder laugh.gif

Hey, I'm a sphere!

*Sid meditates and the sound of her mantra eminates toward Gast... "Be the ball"*
Sidthespid
Hey, just found some great pics of Gast for you to squizz at. The long one with the funky horizontal stripes is where we sit! (the table on the right)

Marilyn
I am so happy - now my family can see what my dining room table looks like. Just put on a roasted turkey in the center - Christmas. Hey I`m coming directly from work do not laugh at my costume. I have to put on the JUNE CLEVER IMAGE!!! All of us Americans can sure relate to that. laugh.gif
Sidthespid
What? No joggies?
Elemmaciltur
no, Sid, you're no sphere, but a skein! laugh.gif

I have to head out now. See y'all later! I'll be my chic-self, as always. wink.gif
Sidthespid
A skein... that'd be right, lumpy and easily unraveled laugh.gif
Marilyn
A great night was had by all last night at the Gast. @sidthespid - how is your head this morning, not too mention a few other body parts we found out about last night tongue.gif .I think Carrie and myself damned near closed the place last night. Loved all the commodery. Even the barmen were having a good time wink.gif especially with the one eye! @Nicky - great to see you again - hope to see more of you in our new location. @Victor I think you can go ahead now and post the header to our new lcoations, I think that all of the bugs are out of the new place, and with luck they will continue going on in our favor. biggrin.gif
Elemmaciltur
Yes, I'll work out the anchor thread tonight...coz I need to gt myself down to Starnberg soon. Was fun last night!
C_in_Märchenland
Had a great time last night – though I think the evening gave me strange dreams. I woke up thinking one of my teeth had fallen out and I had hidden it in my knitting bag with my shrimp. Gast gave a great first (to me) impression, mix-ups with salt, pepper and nudel types aside. I'll definitely be there again.
Sidthespid
Yes it was fun, though I was a demon cycling home last night. I might've just broken the munich land speed record. Parked the bike, wobbled up the stairs to an open door (me thinks someone heard me coming)...spun through it and chappy had the telly programme on, ready and waiting for me to watch it. I love that man!

wub.gif

Jeesuz though, I did rabbit on a bit last night, sorry! Hope all your eardrums have recovered. Poor ol Em kept trying to start that scarf but my yabberings were more than his sticks could cope with I reckon. I'll try to shut up at least some of the time, next time.

Forgetting to eat didn't help me really though, me and chappy pigged out on a pizza when I got back ph34r.gif
tinap
Had to agree it was an absolutely fabulous night. I haven't laughed so much and so loud in a long time. I was seriuosly worried they would kick us out. Sidsy, no, you Brits aren't offensive, just brutally open and honest. My my, don't you guys keep secrets? The things I now know about you! I could write a book! And not for the PG audience. And Marilyn, you had some stories of your own! Whooeeeee!

Notice I just laughed and listened. You won't be getting such stories out of me. I am too shy!!! unsure.gif Though maybe my third personality will pop out one of these nights (Paula was out last night, and she wasn't telling tales) and give you some dirt. laugh.gif

What time did the last of ya'll leave? Romany and I got her seriously huge (no way she could have carried it on foot) mattress home safe and after getting lost on the way home (I told you, Romany), I was safe and sound here at 10, then worked till midnight (I told you I had work to do, Romany!). Hopefully R watched Gilmore Girls and had a drinkie.

Can't wait till next week. Hump Day has just gotten much better!

tinap
Marilyn
@Carrie - I swear to God I didn`t give you one of my SPARE teeth. tongue.gif @sidthespid and you feel sorry for Elem for not being allowed to knit. I just want you to know that not one of us was able to get anything done with our projects. @tinap - you know when you get to reach my age, A LOT of stories are accumulated in such a pea size for a brain. It just takes a "different personality" to bring them on out. For your third trick we will have to call her Cybil. laugh.gif Anyway I arrived home at 11:35 p.m. do not ask me what time I left the Gast with Carrie but it had to be late. Gotta just love HUMP DAYS!!!
