Fantastic! But I have more trouble with frozen fingers than with my wrists - is it possible to knit fingercaps? Or maybe we could knit gloves and I get the fingers, you get the wrists ...
See everybody later. Might even start on my shawl.

I've just ordered a couple of books that call themselves "Knitting Mysteries" from amazon. I'm convinced that they are going to be true pulp novels but I thought they'd be fun to have. If they're any good I'll pass them on (or if they're so bad they're funny *grin*)

Guess Elemmaciltur's still jetlagged to knit, or he's left his needles in Munich. My scarf's getting longer and longer. Soon be time to get going on my shawl. Don't forget next Sunday, everybody!
PS: I'm going to TB on Thursday evening if anyone fancies an extra knitting session!

Hey peepz, I'm back online!!! *woohoo!*
Guess what? I decided to give my mum her present early, i.e. on the first day. So, I presented all my knitting paraphernalia I brought back with me (no,
Nicky, I didn't forget my needles back in Munich...although I got only stuff to make socks here)...and well, the reaction wasn't what I was expected at all. My parents were pretty much appreciative of what I'm doing...if not downright enthusiastic. My mum wants me to make her another hat and a pullunder! *LOL* And she also wants me to teach her how to knit and to crochet!!! OMG! Had I known, I'd have brought my worsted-weight yarns and bigger knitting needles with me so that I could teach her!

Haven't time to knit just yet. I'm working on my course papers at the moment and am attending a special VWL-course at the university here. So, it's not that much of a holiday for me anymore. *LOL*

Hey, welcome back! We'll be thinking of you on Sunday! Your mother can be an honorary member of Stitch and Bitch. Don't they sell knitting needles in Thailand?
Marilyn
Mar 15 2006, 10:14 pm
Welcome back. We missed your presence on Sunday. Dorothee showed and thank god she did, she helped me get one dropped stitich and literly retrieve it from the sweater without frogging it. Great to have her on board. Hope your Mom enjoys knitting as much as you do.

If any of the stitch and bitchers want to join me, I'm on my way to TB later this evening and am taking my knitting.

Hi everyone, I'm new to Munich and keen to test out my non-existent knitting skills this Sunday.
Does anyone have a pair of knitting needles that I could please borrow for my first session?
Elemmaciltur
Mar 17 2006, 5:14 pm
@
misscjnz, sure you can! and I'm sure that somebody there will be able to bring some spare needles and yarns for you to doodle along. If there's anything you need to know more, just PM me...or rather Nicky, since I'm in Thailand at the moment and won't be able to help you much.
Nicky
Mar 17 2006, 6:32 pm
Hi Misscjnz. Come along on Sunday. Sure, we can lend you some needles, but I'd suggest getting some of your own, if it's possible, so you carry on with your knitting at home afterwards. You will surely become addicted like the rest of us

. You can find needles in any of the department stores. Knitting is easy. If you have a chance tomorrow get yourself some fairly thick needles and yarn and we'll get you going on your first scarf. Not sure what Elemmaciltur thinks, but I say it's easier to learn with normal needles, rather than a circular needle. Pm me if you need info about Escobar.
Marilyn
Mar 18 2006, 10:16 am
I`ll brring along some thick needles for you to start on, infact I have already put them into my knitting bag. Straight needles are easier to learn or should I say to get started on. I can even bring some yarn along too but I do not know your taste, and like NIcky said for you to continue on it at home just pick up your favorite color and we will get you started. Welcome on board and we`ll get you so involved in knitting that every where you go you`ll bring your knitting along with you, right SNB`s.
Nicky
Mar 18 2006, 12:57 pm
Yeah, Marilyn's right! 100 % addiction guaranteed. The wine, fajitas, quesidillas, hot chocolate help! In fact, you'll find you can even knit to cocktails, as some of our members have proved. See everyone tomorrow, 5 pm, Escobar. Any more newcomers out there? And what's happened to Elemmaciltur - he's strangely silent. Maybe he's got his socks in a twist?
Important: I notice it says between 4 - 5 pm at the beginning of this thread, but Escobar opens at 5 pm. If Editor Bob reads this, maybe it should be corrected. Wouldn't want anyone to wait outside in the snow.

I know of these crafts places in America so I went on to
www.marymaxim.com Back when I knew of them, they were big then but now they are gigantic. Whew!!! Look at all of this stuff you can now make from every craft to every item needed. I searched this place and you can even get all kinds of catalogs mailed directly to you. So I signed up for a free catalog. And believe me it is free. Just fill out what catalog you want, using your home address and wella I now have a free catalog of knitting and crafts coming to my home address. I also went on to www. herrschners.com also an American company but God look at some of the stuff, and if you want you can get free catalogs there too and also the entire kits to make the project. I love this one stop shopping, now all I need is the money. Everything was gorgeous, I`m hooked now for sure.

Yes, Elemmaciltur is truly too silent - I know there is a difference of time zones there for him, but now this is getting serious. Maybe he has his socks on the wrong feet - or maybe it is just too hot there for socks so he decided to put his Kolenya`s on his feet instead. But how would he do that I mean get his thumb hole on his big toe. But I bet you he has tried it. (HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!)

Mar 18 2006, 4:34 pm
Sorry, sorry...I can't be online 24/7 like I could back in Munich. Like I told
Nicky, my parents enrolled me in this intensive VWL-course at a university here...and today I had a total brain meltdown afterwards because there was just too much maths and calculus involved *urgh*
But I'm keeping an eye on all of ya! The JayWalker Redux is coming along slowly.

Have fun at SnB this Sunday and don't scare away any new stitchers!
*waves to the rest of the SnBers*

Mar 18 2006, 6:10 pm
Hello all,
I would like to join you this Sunday! I am not sure about my knitting skills because I basically taught myself, but perhaps I can get some good tips!
From what I read, the plan is Escobar after 5 p.m.?
Nicky
Mar 18 2006, 6:22 pm
Yes, Lillo. See you there. We'll keep a chair for you. Unfortunately our resident expert, Elemmaciltur, is doing maths in Thailand, as you read, but I'm sure we lesser mortals can pass on a few tips in his absence! Go right through to the back of Escobar from 5 pm onwards and you'll find us.
Nicky
Mar 18 2006, 6:24 pm
Guess after all that maths, Elemmaciltur won't have any problems counting his stitches and his rows. He'll be able to increase and decrease too! (Sorry, couldn't resist that.) After all, knitting's all about maths ...

Love the new skyline of Thailand - It brings one to dream of far away places to dream of for a vacation - and one to bring your knitting along incase you don`t want to do your math!

Mar 20 2006, 4:36 pm
Hi there, Elemmaciltur! Stitch and bitch is still going strong even without you! Good turnout yesterday. Keep knitting. We'll expect to see a whole mountain of socks when you get back. Only one more ball and my scarf will be finished. Then on to the shawl, then you have to come back to advise me on my next project.

Hi everyone! I'm new to Toytown, though not so new to munich anymore. So cool that there's a SnB group! I'm not much of a stitcher, but looking for the inspiration to do more than the scarf that I've been working on for the past two years

Will you be meeting up tomorrow as usual? Thanks!

C_in_Märchenland, sure they'll be meeting up as usual tomorrow! Get along to Escobar a bit after 5 p.m. there should at least be one of them there (there better be - usually it's me, but I'm in Thailand at the moment, so I think an appearance at Escobar tomorrow could be a problem! *LOL*). Just go through to the back. Otherwise PM Nicky...I hope you'll be there and hope to still see you there when I get back to Munich and attending SnB again in May!
Nicky
Mar 25 2006, 3:46 pm
Yes, of course! Come and join us tomorrow. Escobar opens at 5 pm and we'll be there! We all miss Elemmaciltur! I'm on the last ball of yarn for my scarf and hoping to finish it tomorrow. Then I just have to do something with all the ends and wait for next winter ...
See all Stitch and Bitchers tomorrow!

Mar 25 2006, 4:05 pm
@Elemmaclitur and Nicky: Yey, thanks for your replies and directions. I figured you would be meeting as usual (though w/o Elemmaclitur) but thought it would be good to check and to make introductions

Probably be there a bit after five. Maybe I can finally learn how to purl

. 3+ years of just the knit stitch, kinda getting old. See you tomorrow (or in May)

Does anyone have a knitted pattern for a man`s Beret? I finished my cable scarf now I want to make a matching cable beret for father`s day for my husband. I only have Lady`s berets, went on the internet to a couple of places and still can only find lady`s.
Nicky
Mar 25 2006, 11:12 pm
This may sound stupid, but can't you simply use the same pattern and adjust the size?
abra
Mar 26 2006, 2:17 pm
I miss my regular Stitch 'n' Bitch. I'm coming today, though, will try to be there early.
Marilyn
Mar 26 2006, 10:16 pm
For the beret - yes I could adjust the size but what I have is way too feminine looking. I need something more for a man.
Nicky
Mar 26 2006, 10:58 pm
http://knitting.about.com/library/blhatspic.htm@Marilyn Try googling beret knitting pattern - I came up with several sites. Try the above. Good luck!
Marilyn
Mar 27 2006, 2:17 pm
@ Nicky - thanks so much for the pattern it will work fine. I received the catalog from the place in America that I posted about. Is there a
Curry Night this week if so I`ll bring this catalog with me? It is unbelievable what is in there, and the prices are unbelievable as well. And they also have 10% off for clubs for one year. I showed my daughter here and she wants something from it, and I want something from it, and if any of you want something from it, we could ship it all to one location so as not to send it by several boxes all going to different locations, saving on the shipping. Even with the shipping costs, the prices are far less expensive then what we can find around here. Then at the SNB night whoever gets the shipment delivered to their house can break it down and hand carry it to the person when it arrives. My mind is going a hundred miles an hour now. God if I only had the money. I could set up my own business here!
Marilyn
Mar 27 2006, 3:10 pm
I signed up for
Curry Night already - and I`ll bring this catalog with me on Wednesday
Nicky
Mar 28 2006, 9:52 pm
This thread's gone strangely silent. Elemmaciltur's disappeared too! Sorry, can't make
Curry Night, Marilyn. Let's make a special effort to all go again together some Wednesday soon! Anyone got any pics for us to look at?

Nicky, geez, I've things to do!!! My course paper's not going anywhere, I'm procrastinating too much...neither is my JayWalker making any visible progress...
And now, I'm going to procrastinate even more and go to the gym.
Nicky
Mar 29 2006, 10:09 am
Oops! Sorry, sorry ... Elemmaciltur. It's just that Stitch and Bitch needs you! Good luck with paper. Toughen up your fingers at the gym and you'll type all the faster ... and knit all the faster (reminder to self, still have to deal with all those ends in scarf). Started shawl/wrap last night and am very pleased with my efforts. Keep knitting everyone ...

Sunday's not far away! See you all there! As always newcomers welcome!

Mar 30 2006, 8:40 pm
I haven't even unzipped my knitting bag since sunday – bad me. But I will definitely do my best to be there on Sunday again. Though now that I think about it, did anyone else who ate that night (I had quesadillas) have a kind of funky feeling stomach afterwards? I couldn't tell if it was what I ate or not – or maybe just ate too much.
Nicky
Mar 31 2006, 1:55 pm
I also had quesidillas, and, in fact have had quesidillas every single Sunday so far with no problems. Maybe there's a virus going around. See you Sunday. You could try the Fajitas? Or better still, the happy hour cocktails

.
C_in_Märchenland
Mar 31 2006, 7:13 pm
Cocktails would be sure to kill any bugs or other icky stuff. Just will have to drink more... darn;)
Marilyn
Mar 31 2006, 7:50 pm
Start off really simple - go for the Hot Chocolate, then proceed from there. The warmth of the drink makes your stomach relax and the chocolate just in case the food doesn`t settle right. Learned that from a doctor years ago, if your unsure of the food your about to eat, get some chocolate in your stomach - guaranteed it won`t allow the food to stay in there too long.
Marilyn
Mar 31 2006, 7:52 pm
See you all on Sunday night, same place, same station, same time!
Nicky
Mar 31 2006, 9:30 pm
Yes, and thanks for the advice, Marilyn. I actually thought schnapps was the answer.

That's interesting about the chocolate – I've never heard that before, but as I like both chocolate and alcohol, it's good to hear they both could keep my stomach "clean" (well in moderate qualities anyways)
See you tomorrow

oops spoke too soon. Looks like I won't be able to make it (damn!). As a newbie was hoping to make it at least two weeks in a row, but have fun anyway. Someone have a cocktail for me
Nicky
Apr 2 2006, 11:07 pm
Well, I had a glass of Rioja? Will that do? Stitch and bitch is growing - we have a newcomer nearly every week. Would be great if everyone could make it one Sunday! Isn't it time we got started on Elemmaciltur's outfit for when he gets back?
