Stitch and bitch knitting circle

*shrug* I have joined a few groups that way, but if it needs to be a public place, so be it.

wow, this is awesome. I just started a sock on the weekend. Perhaps I shall join you next week to get some help with my circular knitting, I haven't figured out exactly the best way to join the ends and the stitch marker keeps getting in the way.

Still no place to knit. How about the English Garden or Gaertner Platz tomorrow if the weather's nice?

I think the new place should definitely still be a café - but i have no great suggestions. How about Schwabing for a bit of a change from Haidhausen? (Disclaimer: er, i live in Schwabing ). I'll scout about for cafes that look big enough that they wouldn't mind a bunch of knitters hanging out in a corner. Maybe we can have a bit of a period of rotation where we try out new places till we settle down on one. Have the wednesday german knitting people found a new place yet?

raymosses, ardvark: I'm so sorry that I didn't get around to get you guys updated. We ended up not meeting in the English Garden...well, actually we ended up not knitting at all today. I was out the whole day and got absolutely knackered by the time we met up. If you send me your phone number, I can try and update you on Sunday of where we will meet...it will pretty much be spontaneous for the time being.

I'm going to be pretty busy this week and so I won't be able to go scout for a new place yet. But next week should be better. If you guys have time to scout for a new place, by all means, please do. All suggestions are welcome!

Still no new place yet, but might be very soon. I'm not around this weekend (13.07.08), so please feel free to organise your own meeting. ;-) Why don't you go knit along the CSD parade?

Just in case somebody might look: We're meeting today (10th August 2008) from 5 p.m. onwards at the Chinese Tower beer garden in the English Garden.

I've met a couple of lurking knitters (you know who you are), and maybe there are more of you out there reading this thread... If so, then maybe you'd be interested in checking out Ravelry (www.ravelry.com) - the best thing to happen to knitting since the invention of knitting needles. It's an even better place to lurk if you're into knitting or crochet...

There are not only more patterns (& lots of free ones too) than you can possibly knit in your whole lifetime, but you can also see how other people have knit patterns you're considering doing, appropriate yarn substitutions, yarn reviews, check out what your friends have been knitting, find good local yarn shops and special interest groups. It's for everything from lace shawls to socks and jumpers. If you're even remotely considering knitting (or crocheting) anything, ever, just join!

Smitty, we're meeting at the Starbucks in Schützenstr. (the passage way between Hauptbahnhof and Stachus) at the moment. Cafe Mondial closed down at the end of June and there's a new place with a new manager there. We're still looking for a new place to meet up regularly because Starbucks isn't going to be a long term solution.

Do you still meet up? I started to knit a scarf and it will take a while to finish. The problem is i don't think i know how to finish it at the end. A friend sent a link of a knitting website but it looks a bit complicated.
Anyway, is there any chance that you meet up on week days as well? I can offer my place to knit.

utopia, I still don't know where we're meeting up this Sunday. I think it will be at a place of one of the SnBers. I probably won't be there though since I need to study.

@adriprints, yes, you can reach it from the Stachus stop. Keep an eye out on this thread though, just in case we might go back to Café Mondial (this will depend on whether I have the time to go and see the place myself this week).

So, for those of you not on Ravelry and for those that are on there but don't check the MuKnit group, I've posted a new thread there for the SnB Cable Scarf KAL:

A couple of SnBers are already planning some KAL...but since they're all doing something that I can't wear, I decided that I need a KAL myself. So, after throwing a tantrum about KALs at the group, I finally garnered myself a couple of people who would do a Cable Scarf KAL with me.

You can knit whichever scarf you like, just make sure it has cable(s) in it. Officially, the start of the KAL is this Friday, 14th November 2008.

I'm not setting any time limit on this. It's aimed at knitting something together and offer a couple of people a chance to learn how to do cables whilst having other people around to help them.

Anyhow, I'm being bad, because I couldn't resist and already started mine last night (blame it on the hefty bout of start-itis that has hit me in the past couple of weeks). I'm doing the Inner Truth Scarf.

Who else wants to join? Which scarf will you be knitting?
