i would love to come and meet some new people, but it always seems like i'm out of town every sunday.
but i did just start a new project...so it's about time i get over there.
do people sign up each week?

Feb 5 2008, 10:27 pm
Imannah, well, you better keep at it, coz it's definitely not fun entertaining the thread all by myself.
hilaryf, yes, please do sign-up. Some (well, most - apart from me) of the people don't get around to signing up...and it's not that bad. But it would be good to know if someone's coming or that the whole group isn't going to show up, so that I don't have to turn up and end up sitting there all alone.

Hey Knitters/Crocheters/Spinners,
Just a warning to stay away...or perhaps an invitation for a huge turn-ups, depending on how you look at it:
The Bayerisches Fernsehen programme "La Vita" will be filming and interviewing the SnB group on Sunday 09th March. Just come to knit from the normal time onwards (5 p.m.) and we'll have lots of fun. I've also asked the German group (Strickeria) to come along, too. The interview will be shown on the programme on 03rd April!
Hope to see you lots there on that Sunday!
Anything else, just ask me...or start discussing here.

Ooh colours - is that the wollmeise sockgarn Clapotis? Nice.
And just to add my random opinion, i think fuzzy yarn looks cute on the little-uns, on grown ups it can be a bit scary looking though... However, each to their own.
So Elemm does some-one interview/film you every week?! Hilarious! Those Germans are crazy for the knitting eh? Is there anyone left in Germany who hasn't seen you on TV or read about you in some magazine or newspaper?! Maybe you're gonna become the first rock 'n' roll knitting star and in a years time we'll have to drag you into rehab snatching the Addis and merino wool out of your hands so you can go cold turkey for a month or so... You'll be in a straightjacket, they'll have to sedate you to stop your hands twitching as they try to knit... or heck, even crochet...

Sorry i don't know where that came from. Heck, no-one reads this thread anyway, so it doesn't matter!

CHANGE OF PLANS!!!
Okay, I just got a call from Bayerisches Fernsehen and they have to reschedule the filming and interviewing to THIS WEEKEND! This means, that they will be coming to film and interview us this Sunday 02nd March at the SnB. It would be great if you guys can come! Just come to knit at the usual time.
Hope to see y'all there!

Hey knitters... am a complete knitting newbie, but have another friend here who is a scarf expert (he, he).
Needless to say, we need help!
We were hoping to meet-up with 1, 2, 3? of you sometime in the next couple weeks. We're pretty open, but... Sundays are not good for either of us.
Would there be any takers for a random weekday meet-up? Could have lunch and knit, or a bit later in the day for coffee/tea and some knitting? I'm a super visual person, so I'd love to see others techniques and what you're making, plus get a few tips before I start.
I have yarn and needles and looked at a few youTube videos, just can't brave the start... My needles currently sit safely, untouched, in the package on my windowsill.

I'll check back for posts in case anyone would be interested, otherwise you could also PM me. Cheers!

Hey, are we still meeting this weekend, it being Easter Sunday and all?
Seattle2: I'm thinking about starting an early-evening general craft night after I get sufficiently unpacked in the new apartment (so, early April --I hope).

Hi,
A week ago I got startet with a scarf just to check how good I can remember, what my grandma had taught me about knitting, almost twenty years ago. I still can manage to do the basics, and while searching the net about knitting, I found out about this group. I'm German and next to knitting, interested in meeting with English (native) speakers on a regular basis.
So if you don't mind me joining your group, I would like to come along next Sunday.

I don't think we mind --there's at least one German who comes on a fairly regular basis.
Smoofy -- there used to be a group in Berlin, why not start it up again?

I'll be at the "Handarbeitsmesse" in Cologne on Sunday, so I won't be at the group this weekend. However, I'll let
Café Mondial know that there will still be a meeting and that there will be people coming in still.
See you the weekend after then!

sillygoose, we don't have a fix time on how long we meet. The Friday group isn't really an official one, unless we're doing an official Knit-Night at the LYS...otherwise I usually send out a notice on Ravelry or post it somewhere.
As for the SnB on Sundays, we meet at 5 p.m. in Cafe Mondial and stays until about 7-8 p.m. sometimes even longer.
There is also a German group that meets regularly on Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. also at Cafe Mondial.

Hello to all stitchers,
i am a big embroidery fan, not just cross-stitch but almost everything. Sadly i realize i won't have enough of three or four lives to do all the work i planned, so i have to decide what i definitely won't be able to do.
I have a Royal Paris embroidery kit, "Spring", that i am willing to sell. Brand new. It's is not cross stitch though. I can send pictures to any one interested.
Also, i have a lot of embroidery and various cross-stitch magazines that i won't use, with many patterns. Also for sale going cheap.
Thanks a lot, and have a nice day !

Hi Bitchers,
I am looking for someone that would be willing to knit / purl or whatever me a tank-top. It would need to be someone fairly competent because I only have a drawing to go on and no pattern. You can take as long as you like and I will pay 50 Euro for your time. I will also reimburse you for the wool. Long story short, this is a gift for someone. The pattern will not be complicated by the way. Please PM me if you are interested.
Hello everyone,
Hope to see you all on Sunday.
All the best,
Mo

Hi,
do any of you do patchworking?
I have a "krabbel decke" that is so far sewn together, and "only" needs to be quilted - what would you suggest - hand or machine quilting???
I´d be pleased to receive any replies on this!
thanks!

Um, I'm not sure how many people who read this thread are quilters. I for one don't know enough about it to offer intelligent advice. If you don't get any response here, you might try starting a new thread. A
search turned up two results for quilting, someone in that group or on that thread might have a more informed opinion than I can offer.

May 27 2008, 4:11 pm
It depends on the purpose, how good you are at using a sewing machine (seriously!), how good you are at hand-sewing, and how much time you have to spare.
Feel free to PM me to talk about the options.

I patchwork and quilt, but I don't read this thread very often.
My vote is for machine quilting; is it going to be used for a baby to crawl about on? If so then whatever you do needs to stand up to being washed lots.
If you do decide to quilt by hand, then choose the batting carefully - some are not that easy to sew by hand (in my experience at least).

Howdy SnBers. Hope to see you guys today. I need a break. I've just emerged from the blackhole that's called a-master-thesis-that's-been-procrastinated-for-waaaaaaaaaay-too-long.
Finished it yesterday...totally crappy writing. Sent it off to another friend to be correct, at least grammar and spelling wise. Can't do anything about the crappy content now. Then I'll have to send it off to the printer tomorrow morning, get it bound and hand it in in the afternoon.
So, yeah, need to do something else now, such as knitting. :-)

NO SnB this Sunday 29.06.2008 since that's the day Cafe Mondial's closing down and selling its inventory off. Besides, it's Germany against Spain, so I don't have the mind to knit. :-p
I'm in the process of finding another place to knit. Suggestions welcomed. In the mean time, however, if the weather stays nice, we can go have a picknick and knit together out there.

Does it need to be a cafe-type place? Because some sundays, I could offer a living room
Elemmaciltur
Jul 1 2008, 7:33 am
Yes, it needs to be a public place. Imagine how uncomfortable you would feel if you're new and want to join. You wouldn't want to barge in to a house of a complete stranger, would you?
