Geminispark, where and when is the Martial Arts demonstration and self defense workshop? Is it open to attend?
alala
May 8 2007, 6:25 pm
@ Geminispark, I tried to PM you for details on the Tuesday group but the message failed. Can you post the details here, or PM me about them, please?
Thanks,
A

Hey Vatosca,
The demo is open to all... as is the workshop. They will be in the campus of the Technical University of Munich in
Garching. I can give you more details but I do not want to turn this board into a different discussion

(Do you think people would be interested enough for me to try and start a new topic?)
To alala...well actually being totally new (meeting count at the moment = 0) I do not really know...sorry. I think that there are others though who would be able to give you info.
Again apologies for turning this discussion away but I am really having trouble with PM's...can't send or receive any ...no idea why! Will figure it out in time or will pester the moderators (hehe)
Again happy knitting.

@Alala: Tuesday German group meets at "Esszimmer", Siegfriedstraße 14 from ca. 18/18.30 hrs depending on who are there first. Just turn up and look for a table with people knitting...and just tell them that I sent you there.

Hello, I'm new to TT and am very interested in meeting new people and learning how to knit. Is it too late to sign up for Stitch'n' Bitch?
Elemmaciltur
May 9 2007, 9:30 am
@oh_angela: Nope, not too late at all. Go ahead and sign up and turn up this Sunday. Have you ever knit or crochet before at all, have you got material? Just want to know so that I could bring along some extra stuff this Sunday.
oh_angela
May 9 2007, 9:49 am
Super! No, never have done either and I don't have any materials but I can purchase some on Saturday. What kind of knitting needles do I need? And where do I sign up?
Elemmaciltur
May 9 2007, 9:56 am
@
oh angela: If you want, I could accompany you to purchase the stuff. However, you can leave it off and just try your hand out on Sunday first to see whether you like it or not before you invest in some stuff.
Talking about buying stuff.
bethnagus, are you around? Are you still interested in doing a
Yarn-Crawl? This also applies to the rest of you
SnBers. Date and time suggestions welcome!
Lastly
World Wide Knit in Public Day (WWKIP Day) is coming up on 9th June (Saturday). I didn't sign us up since I'm not sure whether you guys would be here or not. But we can still organise a semi-official WWKIP. Then I could put up our name on the
German division over at
Daniela's Maschenkunst.
kks actually suggested once that we should all go and knit on the steps of the Feldherrnhalle at
Odeonsplatz. Any other suggestions are welcome! Last year I was KIPing away with
TalksToStrangers at the Hofbräu Garten at Wiener Platz. Here are some reminder photos:

how about Friday afternoon for the Yarn-Crawl?
I'm in for KIP-day... Feldherrnhalle would be a good place as it's so central, but I think it would be a bit uncomfortable. How about Chinesischer Turm?

Sendlinger Tor doesn't have Pro Natura, I popped in yesterday to have a look) If you don't mind having other people around. ;-) Okay, we're suggesting:
YARN CRAWL!!!
When: This Friday (
11th May) afternoon. Exact time TBD.
Where: I'd start off with Wollkorb at Sendlinger Tor as usual. So we should meet up at Sendlinger Tor
Who: Elemmaciltur, regan (at the moment)
@
Alala: Are you around for a stitching session on Friday? I have university until 1900 hrs. So we could meet after that.

Aaah, those buggers! (No, I don't mean other people around!) Why is it that this particular yarn doesn't seem to be sold in Munich? I'm going to write Atelier Zitron now, so they can tell me where to buy the Pro Natura stuff. First they make a great (supposedly) bamboo yarn, and then you can only buy it on the internet with shipping costs. ARGH!

Aelfwynn: Oh well, just make sure you knit in public then!
@
oh angela: Okay! Looking forward to seeing you there!
@
regan: before the university...shall we meet at, say, 2 p.m.?
Maschenkunst has pro Natura, but it's in Cologne. So, if you can wait, I can either get some for you the next time I'm there or when Shernoh's coming down.
Any time decided yet for the yarn crawl??
I have only been to one wool shop in Munich so this would be good for me to find the others

@Awa: Great! I just replied to your PM. Hope to see you there on Friday, or at the latest on Sunday!
Hey there SNBers! I just compiled a list of all the german online knitting shops that I know of and thought it may (or may not) be of use to you. If you know of any others, please let me know and I will add them to the list. Hope to be there on Sunday (finally!).

Awa.

Atelier Zitron just emailed me back - fortunately, because I never would have found the shop that stocks their stuff. They didn't explicitely say that those shops have the Trekking Pro Natura though. Anyways, one shop is near U-Bahn stop
Fraunhoferstrasse, it's on Ohlmüllerstrasse 10 and I think it's called "Die Handarbeitsstubn". I read somewhere on Toytown that the opening hours are a bit strange, on Friday it would be 9-1 and 3-6. The second shop that stocks Zitron is in Erding, so it's a bit out of the way.
Does anyone want to yarn-crawl to Ohlmüllerstrasse with me?
Elemmaciltur
May 10 2007, 9:08 am
@
kks: Yeah, you might have mentioned it once...or I think you did but maybe you didn't.

@
regan: Okay...well, we'll see on Friday whether we still have time to get there then.
kks
May 10 2007, 11:08 am
@regan: you might want to call because the last time i went there, their hours were M - Th 10 - 13, 14 - 18. i didn't see any trekking, but that doesn't mean they didn't have any!
regan
May 10 2007, 1:26 pm
@kks: Thanks for the notice! When was the last time you were there? Is the shop nice, any good?
@regan: I went last year sometime. The shop is REALLY small, but it is really packed with yarns. I thought they had a better selection than the other yarn stores, and the woman was friendly. Here are some
pictures.
regan
May 10 2007, 2:14 pm
@kks: I mean another shop... the link you posted sent me to "Die Wolle" on
Müllerstrasse, but I had "Die Handarbeitsstub'n" on Ohlmüllerstrasse in mind. I've been to "Die Wolle" before once but didn't want to go back there... at least not on my own, I think I'm too scared that a shelf with yarn might collapse on me and nobody would find me...
@regan: i just realized that this is a different store. the one i'm thinking of is on
müllerstr. and not ohlmüllerstr!

Ah well. See you all tomorrow hopefully.
@Elemmaciltur:
I will arrange leaving home a bit early, and arrive the cafe in time, but since I'm not familiar with Munich yet, so there is a possiblity that I go out of wrong exit and be late a few munites. Anyway, I will be there tomorrow, see you all soon.

Geez,
SnBers, you guys are not posting or what? Well, it's always so much fun entertaining the thread by myself.
Awa, well, hope to see you the week after then!
Okay, since
oh_angela would need to get her stash up and going, we're going to do a
yarn crawl again:
What: Yarn Crawl
When: Friday 18th May 2007 starting at 1.30 p.m. (1330 hrs)
Where: We'll meet at the U-Bahn Frauenhoferstrasse at the exit to Baaderstr. There might be quite a bit of walking since I and
regan want to go to a very specific LYS. The route will be: Die Handarbeitsstub'n -> (Tram 27) Die Wolle -> Wollkorb @
Sendlinger Tor -> Wolle Roedel -> Beck's Geknopft & Zugenaeht
Who: me, regan
Hopefully
oh_angela will be able to make it. Anyone else who wants to join please post and I'll update and confirm the list again by Thursday evening

Where: We'll meet at the
Fischbrunnen @ Marienplatz. The route will be: Beck's Geknopft & Zugenaeht -> Wolle Roedel -> Wollkorb @
