elemcatgatrog, there were about 8 or 9 of us last sunday; so much for sticking to the 6 in the reservation. luckily it wasnt too overcrowded for the live music thing, so we managed to steal an extra table

poor crook chook hope you all get well soon.

toadfish is in hospital!
Elemmaciltur
Let's knit for penguins!!!

Oh, and I reserved for eight at Cafe Mondial for this Sunday...they're having an all you can eat prawn night for EUR 10 with live music...and I'll be having a guest with me. wink.gif
Aelfwynn
I was planning on it --and looking forward to meeting your guest, but the smell of shrimp/prawns makes me ill... *sigh*
g24
Does anyone knit mostly baby stuff? I like fluffy, pastel yarn and all the photos seem to be of posh multi-coloured yarn! I wouldn't want to feel the oddball if I come to the meet-up sad.gif
Kastanie
Is there such a thing as eco wool?
Elemmaciltur
@g24, I remember you wanting to come...but then you disappeared! Yes, regan knits baby stuff from time to time...No need to feel like the odd ball with us. We're all odd enough as it is. ph34r.gif

@Kastanie, what do you mean with "eco wool"?
regan
I do knit baby stuff sometimes... but I don't like doing it in places like restaurants and cafés, due to smoking (Café Mondial isn't so smoky though). Call me weird, but I feel it's wrong to knit something for a baby, and then the knitted piece smells like cigarettes. Even though I wash everything before I give it away.

I think EcoWool comes from organic sheep, or something. I've heard about it, but already forgot about it. If you google it you should come up with some results.

Elemm, do you know what time the prawn-all-you-can-eat-thing starts? Do we have to sign up for that if we want to take part?
Elemmaciltur
@regan, the all you can eat shrimp start, I think, at 7 p.m./1900 hrs. I've reserved for 8 for us stitchers...and there's also going to be live music playing. So, it would be great if all those coming could try signing up by Friday at the latest so that I can adjust the number of people coming. Although I don't really think that it's going to be that bad...but who knows?
Elemmaciltur
SnBers, where are you all??

Anyway, just to bump the thread and motivate you to post:

Go to My Flickr for more infos. wink.gif

Lastly, would anybody like to adopt this yarn? I'm giving it away for free (I have a total of 5 hanks...the 4 hanks left I can wind up into yarn cakes for you - yeah, I'm just looking for excuse to play with my new swift and ball winder):

Aelfwynn
I'll adopt it. smile.gif

I should be there this week.
Elemmaciltur
@Aelfwynn: I have to give a ball to Shernoh, but I'm bringing the rest (4 balls) for you this Sunday. smile.gif

SnBers, where are you all???!!! Sign-up, sign-up! I'll reserve a table for 6 for this Sunday!
Aelfwynn
AAARGH! mad.gif I sprained my ankle this afternoon (again), so I won't be making it today. Elemmaciltur, I'm really sorry about the short notice.

Think of me, with my foot on ice. sad.gif
Elemmaciltur
Hey SnBers!

As most of us are away during the Easter Holidays there will NOT be a Stitch 'n Bitch for this Sunday, 8th April. Normal programme should resume on 15th April, assuming that I'll be back on 14th (I still don't have a confirmation for carpooling back from Cologne...so I might end up staying longer).

Have a great Easter, everyone! happy.gif

And just to keep you motivated with your knitting:

Elemmaciltur
SnBers! What happened to you guys???

Okay, I'm staying longer in Köln. Will be back on Monday afternoon, but please post here if any of you want to have an SnB on Sunday and what time you're intending to be at Café Mondial, so that I can ring them up and get a reservation. If you want to be there this Sunday, then please turn up because I'm not going to be there.

Please post here/tell me/sign-up your name at the latest by this Friday (13th April) afternoon!
Elemmaciltur
@Appleturnover and all SnBers: Your cellphone number's not working. So, hopefully you'll see this here:

There is NO SnB Today!
Nobody had contacted me or signed up by Friday afternoon, so I didn't reserve a table at Café Mondial. However, you can always just turn up and grab a small table for yourselves if you feel compelled to be there.

I'll be back in Munich on Monday afternoon, so there should be SnB as usual next Sunday!
Elemmaciltur
I'm back guys!!! SnB this Sunday! Same place, same time. Hope to see you lots there!!!

Here's some motivation:

Elemmaciltur

Need I say more? laugh.gif

See y'all tomorrow!!!
Elemmaciltur
SnBers, you know guys, it's so fun entertaining the thread all by myself. *NOT*

And I assure you, the next time there's such a small turn-up at SnB on Sunday (there were really only the three of us who signed up that turned up this afternoon), I'm just going to break down and cry like a baby at Café Mondial while babbling stuff like "no knitters love me", "they left me all alone", etc.

SidtheSpid, C in Märchenland, Internetaholic, cathy, pernillad, Inessa, montypy16, etc. Where are you all???!!! sad.gif
g24
It's too sunny I think!! Biergartens etc you know!?! Personally, I would love to come along but Sundays at 5pm is just so not good sad.gif
Elemmaciltur
@g24, yeah, it was probably that, too. :-)

Anyway, here's something I made for kks's birthday

Hope to see some people there this Sunday.
alala
sunday evening = bad for out-of-towners with kids, but I'll be in on Friday, if anyone wants to meet and stitch then...
Elemmaciltur
@Alala: Yes, yes!!! I'll be there!! I'll ring you up on Thursday...my bf's in town, too, so I might drag him along. tongue.gif
Aelfwynn
I should be there on Sunday.

Oh, and I'm an aunt! biggrin.gif
Elemmaciltur
@Aelfwynn, looking forward to seeing you there...and congrats!
vatosca
Hi! My name is Amanda and I am new to Toytown. I have a few questions about the knitting group that meets on Sundays. How long does the group meet for? Is Cafe Mondial loud and/or Smoky? Thanks!
Aelfwynn
It's not usually too loud to carry on conversation, nor is it usually smoky enough to set off my allergies. Someone else will have to answer about the time, since I'm almost never there for the whole time myself. biggrin.gif
Elemmaciltur
@Vatosca, hey Amanda. We usually stay there from 5 p.m. to about 7.30-8.00 p.m. or longer, depending on how many people are still there. And now especially that the weather's good, there won't be too many people in the cafe at all and so it will neither be loud nor smoky. Just pop around and join us! wink.gif
vatosca
Great! Thanks! Will try to make it around 6 ish. Have been looking for a knitting group for a long time and am excited to meet all of you and have a chance to knit together!
Elemmaciltur
Hey SnBers, I've reserved a table for 6 (as always, pro forma) more can come!!! So, I hope that at least 6 will turn up.

As for motivation, here you go, my JayWalker #4:

Started: 21st April 2007
Finished: WIP
Yarn: Rohrspatz & Wollmeise superwash sockyarn, colourway "Iris Sibirica"
Needle: 2.5 mm/ US #1 Addi Turbos circs
Pattern: JayWalker by Grumperina on MagKnits
Modification: I'm doing this using the toe-up version modified by Natalia Knits and I'm also using the Magic Cast-On instead of the provisional cast-on suggested
alala
Neat. Are you bringing that tonight? What kind of increase are you using on the toe?
Elemmaciltur
@Alala, Yeah, I'm bringing that tonight...I don't think I could work on the Icarus shawl in that kind of setting. tongue.gif I just do a k-f/b on the 2nd and 2nd to last stitch on each needle on every second round. smile.gif
geminispark
I have a needle and some yarn (please don't ask me which kind ?) ) and till a few moments ago (had) the motivation to attend the next session...

To be honest some of the pictures scared me a bit - new to TT and even newer to knitting - okay scratch that, never done it before unless 2nd grade handicraft class counts. Would someone really take the trouble (and trust me it will be...) to teach from the letter a?

Sounds like fun though (and the pictures are reallllly impressive)

meep.
Elemmaciltur
@geminispark, oh, sorry, I know some of the pics can be intimidating...just pop around tomorrow and you'll get to knit like that. wink.gif We'll teach you...and I'll bring a book with me that you can look through. And thanks for the compliments.

Awww... referred to by name and everything! Sorry, guys, I'm doing frisbee again now that's it's nice out again (that's why I didn't knit last summer). I miss you guys though--if there is ever an impromptu week-night knitting session let me know--I'd be all up for that!
vatosca
Looks like I'll make it to the group today. Probably a little after six. Geminispark...don't be intimidated! Knitting is FUN and you get the hang of it quickly!
geminispark
Everybody is being so nice! : little happy step :

Weekdays would be preferable for me as well (since I live in a little place called Neufahrn...and MVV has not yet realised that people wish to have a life on the weekends - no bus service on Saturday or Sunday).

Even if this is not possible then will definitely see you all next Sunday needles and all with smile.gif
regan
Is anyone up for Sunday? The forecast says rain... wink.gif
kks, are you coming? Should I bring that book for you?
Aelfwynn
I can't be there this week, most likely. I'll be on my way back from a weekend of medieval games.
bonnie
All my visitors have gone home (which was a bit sad) but it also means I'm free to come this Sunday. I haven't been in ages & am totally out of practice but it will be fun!
Elemmaciltur
@regan: No, kks won't be there this Sunday, she told me over an email. But she should be at the Tuesday group.

@bonnie: Would be great to see you there!

@geminispark: We used to have a Wednesday group, but because of the circumstances on finding a permanent place for the group on the weekday was pretty difficult, plus the fact that most of us can't make it weekday evenings, caused us to drop the whole weekday group out altogether. If you can speak German (which isn't really a requirement) you can come join the Tuesday group, which is a German group. PM me or regan for more info.

Table reserved for 6 at Cafe Mondial this Sunday...I'll be there to moan about my current situation, if anyone's interested...but I won't be staying way long, because I need to get some work done (the cause of my moaning)
regan
Ohmygawd ohmygawd ohmygawd! I just found out that the international press shop at hauptbahnhof sells Vogue Knitting and Knitsimple!!! They don't have Interweave Knits though, but a French knitting/crochet magazine and an Italian crafts magazine with a cookery section.
Elemmaciltur
@regan, Seems like my pestering them about knitting magazines has finally paid off. Thank you for this information. I'm going to just leave the house now and get to the shop at Hbf. to get some. tongue.gif This shall make my day a bit better for having to be at the uni from 15.45-20.45 hrs today.
vatosca
awesome! Thanks for letting us know! I was just debating on whether or not to subscribe to Vogue Knitting online! Will head to the Hbf today!

Nice work. smile.gif
I'm interested, but the moment I have neither yarn nor needle, and I don't know how to do it.
I only have a very few experience to design and make some small simple jewelly.
Elemmaciltur
@Awa: Well, just come along! You can make jewelry, too...Cathy who popped around once makes jewelry, but I haven't seen her since. If you want to learn to knit or crochet, just give a yell beforehand (preferably on Friday or Saturday morning at the latest) and then I or someone can bring extra stuff for you to try and learn. We'll teach you. ;-) Hope to see you there this Sunday! (sign up!)

Elemmaciltur,
Thanks for the invite. I will be really busy till the 26th, my father comes to Munich to give a demonstration on Martial Arts (!!) and to hold a workshop for womens self defense.
Changing from long staffs to knitting needles, I shall equip myself with some thread and finally attend one of the meetings after!

My German is pretty basic but if it is not an iron clad rule to speak 'only' German I would love to come on one of the Tuesdays. Crochet and language skills...who could ask for more wink.gif
Happy knitting all.
Elemmaciltur
@geminispark, wow...martial arts, eh? Well, kks also attends the German group, partly to learn German...so you are more than welcomed to join her. Most of the ladies there speak only German, but there're also regan and another non-TT friend of ours in the Tuesday group, both of whom also speak English, so no need to be afraid about the language barrier. I probably won't be able to attend the Tuesday group for a while since uni has started and again I have courses on Tuesdays from 17.30-20.45 hrs. *meh* But I'm looking forward to seeing you at our Sunday group once in a while! wink.gif
