Elemmaciltur
SnBers, nice to see y'all last night! Great to have finally met kks!

Just a note for next week, we're planning to go to Curry Night on Wednesday (14th February)...it would be nice to go with the lot of SnBers there. So, what do you guys think?

And for those of you who weren't there last night, I've finished my hat/beanie:

Started: 26th January 2007
Finished: 03rd February 2007
Yarn: Wolle Rödel Soft Merino, 100% superwash merino, colour #359
Needle: Two 4.5 mm Addi Turbo circs (using 2 circs method)
Pattern: Shedir from Knitty's Breast-Cancer Awareness Mini-Issue
Modification: Since I'm using bigger yarn and needles than called for, I did only 3 repeats of the cable pattern before decreasing
chook
Nice Beanie El! I'm knitting a hooded baby poncho for Lucie with that funny white yarn (like boucle) that I got in that lot from ebay.

Also does anyone know where I can buy some acrylic or wooden crochet hooks? Preferably around 5mm or 6mm. I have an 8mm from Wolle Roedel but they didn't have anything smaller than that last time I checked. I want them to take on the plane with me as I'm not too certain whether I would be allowed to take metal ones onboard.
Elemmaciltur
I'm not sure...try Ludwig Beck...but I think that you should be able to take metal crochet hook with you on the plane, since it's not sharp/pointy.
kks
I'm hoping to make it this weekend, although it just depends on if my husband is going climbing or not. I think he's planning to go on Saturday, so that would work out fine...everything depends on the weather! It was great to *finally* meet all of you, I had a lot of fun and was inspired by all the beginners! I finished my socks that I had last weekend too! Now onto Beaudelaire...

@kks, hope you'll be able to make it this Sunday. Great socks!!! Nice photos!...I've also started another JayWalker on MagicLoop for Project Spectrum.

SnBers, I've reserved a table for six this Sunday...but I'm sure we could expand if more comes.
appleturnover
ello ello from the brit gals, just to let you know we cant make it tonight-sorry for the late rsvp took us a while to get on this thing! happy knitting-c you next weekX
Aelfwynn
I've had to un-reserve, as I'm having a flare-up of sciatica and can't sit still long enough to go. simple_is_good, I've emailed you about the costume project.
C_in_Märchenland
Was just poking around and thought I'd say hi. I can't make it again this Sunday either. But my knitting is going to be famous!! Hope everyone is well.
regan
Hey everybody! Looks like I can finally make it this Sunday! Who else is up for it?

Needle: 2 mm/ US #1 Addi Turbos circs
Pattern: JayWalker by Grumperina on MagKnits

Yes, and another one. I know, I'm so pathetic. But really, I can't find any other patterns that I like out there...most of the sock patterns seems to gear towards women, i.e. lacey...and I don't think that I want any holes in my socks, thank you very much. If it's something for men, it's kinda dull with chunky cables. It's also a dilemma that I don't want to just knit a pair of simple stockinette socks because it's just going to bore me to death...but maybe it might be a good mindless knitting. I might attempt it. But for now, it's JayWalker all the way. :-p

SnBers! Sign up for this Sunday!!! Also, do we want to storm the Curry Night next Wednesday??
chook
Looks great El. I think you need more of a challenge - why don't you write your own patterns?
Elemmaciltur
@Chook: As a matter of fact, I had been trying to figure out a pattern for myself since a couple of weeks now. wink.gif

You've been in Germany too long wink.gif
But not wanting to go off topic, I learnt to knit quicker than my 3 sisters ph34r.gif
Elemmaciltur
Oh, whoops, thanks, Jeckel, for pointing that out. Yeah, it should've been "for". tongue.gif

brit girls are coming tonight! XX
laura_k
i like how you share a login!
i will be there too.. see yas later
Elemmaciltur
Hey SnBers, great to see that pretty many are going to show up today. I've reserved a table for 6...but it seems there might be more coming. If so, please just kindly ask the staff whether we can pull in an extra table. I might be coming in a tad late today, depending on how things go, since I'm going to the Allianz Arena to take some photos with Frank. Also, one of my German friend is going to come and join today, her name is Denise, so please keep a look out for her if I'm not there.

See y'all later!
TalksToStrangers
greetings, darlings!! we will be there tonight, ufos in tow... it's time to finish a few things!! will sid be coming too?
kks
Hey gang, look forward to seeing you again as well as casting on a new sock. Just finished Baudelaire today!

Baudelaire from Knitty.com
Rohrspatz & Wollmeise superwash sock yarn, Dani colorway (strong medium)

Didn't care much for the pooling, I hoped it would be more verigated. But I love the rich colors!!! This was my first toe up sock and I loved it! Looking forward to making more.
Aelfwynn
I won't be there tonight after all, still too much to do in prep for my aunt's arrival tomorrow morning. sad.gif
regan
I forgot to tell you guys that supermarket Lidl has yarn, knitting needles and crochet hooks on sale from tomorrow onwards. The yarns didn't look nice, but the needles might be interesting. Maybe you want to check it out.
TalksToStrangers
Greetings, darlings! I have a crisis, hope you guys can help... There Ellaminope and I are, winding up a hank of the most luscious wool ever, and mid-woolgasm I realize that my 8mm addis are missing! YIKES!! I think I lent them out last spring and completely forgot about it in the excitement of going home, etc. Please, if you could have a quick check to see if you have them it'd be super. The needles in question are short, metal 8mm needles with a cable connecting them. Thankyouthankyouthankyou!!!
Sidthespid
I havn't been in like yonks! It seems like forever. I'm stuck in some books and the academic twaddle won't let me go. Plus, chappy gets back from Sweden tomorrow and we have lots of catching up to do this weekend wink.gif

I still like knitting and beer and gossip - I just need a week or so to get my affairs in order!
Elemmaciltur
Sign up guys!!! The list looks very sad with only my name on it!!!

C in M, are you coming this Sunday?
Elemmaciltur

And in case you don't know yet: Frank broke up with me. So, come and cheer me up this Sunday! tongue.gif

Also, Alala and I are going on a small impromptu yarn crawl this evening from about 17.30 hrs onwards. Coffee/Tea and knitting should also be in the programme. We'll probably be going to Worb in Türkenstr. first, seeing that I'll be meeting her at the university, and then I'll probably get her to Beck, Wolle Roedel and Wollkorb (although she already knows Wolle Roedel). So, if you feel like joining up then please give me a ring.

See y'all on Sunday at the latest! (I'll be reserving for 8, assuming that kks, chook, appleturnover would make an appearance anyway)
regan
I won't be able to come on Sunday... hopefully the week after though. You guys have fun!
appleturnover

Elemmaciltur
Hey, SnBers, sign-up, sign-up and come and get drunk with me on Sunday. If you have cute guys, bring them with you this Sunday so that I could inspect them. tongue.gif (hey, it's my 25th b-day on Saturday! I'm allowed!!! Donation of knitting-related stuff and yarn-goods are welcomed...not that my stash is about to consume me...but we just won't take notice of that. laugh.gif)

Anybody's interested in having an impromptu Stitch 'n Bitch on Friday evening (2nd March) at some kind of location (we usually end up at Starbucks anyway)? I'm on holiday as of this afternoon from 5.15 p.m. onwards! *Yay!* (Okay, I still have those stupid seminar papers to write up anyway)...

...oh yes, and my latest (sock) yarn acquisition:

I'm signing up for Sunday, I'm most likely to come! Although I'm not 100% sure... if I don't get much work done on Sunday I'll probably try and work some more. But I think it should be okay.
Oh, and Elemmaciltur: I'm trying to get you a copy of the Spring IK issue; it'll probably take some time and I can't guarantee it, but I'll do my best!
chook
You're addicted El! Hope you're not about to run off and shave your head tongue.gif

Sorry I missed last weekend. I travelled back from Berlin last Sunday and had a baby performing gymnastics on my lap most of the way so I wasn't in the mood to go out after all that. I'm coming this Sunday though. I only have four more Sunday's in Munich! So I'll bring some of my yarn stash and spare needles to offload this week. See you all then.
Sidthespid
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STRICKTOR!

*much tweeting of virtual whistles and stuff* biggrin.gif
Elemmaciltur
Ta @ Sid!

Well, guys, guess whose birthday it is today! tongue.gif

Hopefully, my birthday pressies to myself:

will arrive in the mail today. wink.gif

Anyway, I've reserved a table for 8 tomorrow. Hope to see y'all there!
appleturnover
we'll be there 2mrw!
Elemmaciltur
Hey SnBers,

I won't be there the coming Sunday (11th March) since I'll be Cologne. Cafe Mondial has a vernissage on 11th March from 1900 hrs onwards. We've reserved a table for six at the moment. Please add your name to to the list ASAP in case we need to adjust the number of people. As for the organisation, laura_k is going to be taking over for the week. Please, get in contact with her if there's anything to be done.

I'll see you guys in a couple of weeks then!

On other news, I've finished another pair of socks:

Started: 19th February 2007
Finished: 04th March 2007
Yarn: Regia Nodic Colour 4-ply sock yarn, colour #5510 "Trondheim"
Needle: 2.5 mm/ US #1/#2 Addi Turbos (using MagicLoop method)
Pattern: Universal Toe-up Sock using Magic Cast-On
regan
Not sure if I'm coming on Sunday, we might get visitors over the weekend.
What does that vernissage mean for us? That we have to leave before 7?
Elemmaciltur
regan, I think that the vernissage would mean that we have a set limited number of place that we could occupy. I need to confirm the number by Thursday.
Elemmaciltur
The only thing one can do in this kind of situation is just *SQUEALS with delight!!!*:

*Does the happy dance*
laura_k
ok.. i have signed up +1 .. so you're getting the number from the sign-up sheet, is that right?
Elemmaciltur
laura_k, yeah...well, I'll ring them up tomorrow from Cologne and confirm the number with them...any problems and I'll ring you. I'll email you the SnB list today (when I get over the yarn-daze I'm having right now)
laura_k
Well mind you don't pass out from happiness and hit your head or something
You could put the email addresses in the google group and then send the whole list out like that?
Sidthespid
Hope you had a wonderful day Stricktor!

biggrin.gif

I just got a list via the googlegroup...

Is something special happening then? wotwotwot??

Must know must find out must know must find out

(why don't they have a maniac emoticon?)

Anyway - woots for your burpday!
regan
I'm not coming this time... have to do some work. You guys have fun, see you maybe next week!
Elemmaciltur
I'm back!!!

Go sign up, all ye Stitchers!!! Or do I have to come and hunt you down myself? ph34r.gif

Here's my loot from Cologne from MaschenKunst (owned by Daniela, who does the Secret Knitting Podcast):

- Zitron's "Trekking pro natura" sock yarn: 75% New Wool, 25% Bamboo; colourway # 1640
- Colinette's Jitterbug sock yarn, 100% superwash Merino; colourway #67 "Copperbeach"

Yeah, I held back from making a yarn splurge over there...my bag was over-packed as it already was and I couldn't have carried any more yarn back with me to Munich. I actually bought only the Jitterbug...the Zitron I got semi-gratis to test-knit (yeah, that's the "semi" part) for Daniela - how cool is she?!

And this is all I had worked on in Cologne:

Started: 08th March 2007
Finished: WIP
Yarn: Rohrspatz & Wollmeise superwash sock yarn, 100% wool; colourway "Amazonas" (Amazon)
Needle: 2.5 mm/ US #1-2 Addi Turbos (using MagicLoop method)
Pattern: Universal Toe-up Sock using Magic Cast-On

The photo was from Tuesday...so the thing had already grown a bit more.

Apart from that there's another pair of Kolenyas I'm making for Shernoh...but I haven't any photos of them.
Aelfwynn
I'll be there this week, and don't have to go early to meet my hubby or anything (he'll be out of town this weekend).
chook
I'm not coming this week. I've had the flu since last Wednesday and am still crook and have two other patients to care for. sad.gif
