Chook, Wow, you're surely making progress! Don't worry about the stitch marker comment...I find it confusing, too. What I do is just keep that first marker where it is. Then you have the "kfb", which is knitting through both font and back loop of the same stitch, and you're right, that's a "bar increase" indeed. After you've this bar increase done, you'll be placing another stitch marker and keeping these two stitches between the markers to mark the thumb gusset.
Then you'll be knitting even for the next round and increase every other round the very first and last stitch between the markers until you have the total of 12 stitches for the thumb gusset (i.e. you'll be knitting about 11 rounds). Knit even for 3 more rounds and that's when you put the live thumb gusset stitches on to a waste thread...
If you still need help, you know how to reach me!

Hey I finished my first Kolenya! I must be a tight knitter as its a bit of a snug fit on me and I have small hands! I'll bring it along on Sunday to show off.
Elemmaciltur
Jan 18 2007, 3:02 pm
Chook, Congrats! Yeah, bring them along to show...I haven't gotten far with my double Kolenyas yet and I ended up crossing a stitch again, so I'll have to fix that some time...
...but then again, the followings was on my doorstep in a package this morning:

Yup, those are
Rohrspatz & Wollmeise test hanks in
all available colourways (minus the four that I had already ordered previously) and three extra colourways that aren't on her site!
Yummy, aren't they?

Jan 18 2007, 3:14 pm
Wow - just gorgeous! So how many metres is in a test hank?
Aelfwynn
Jan 18 2007, 3:17 pm
And how do you go about getting the test hanks? *grin*
Elemmaciltur
Jan 18 2007, 3:36 pm
Chook, it's small, but you can make a small swatch from it. I'm thinking about making a very colourful scarf.
Aelfwynn, just go to her site and you need to write her an email to order.
Aelfwynn
Jan 18 2007, 3:38 pm
I went to the site, but I couldn't find any information on the test hanks... like how much they cost etc.
Elemmaciltur
Jan 18 2007, 3:42 pm
Aelfwynn, look towards the bottom and click on "wool" -> "info on". Each test hank costs EUR 0.50 + sending costs.

hello.
i am looking for some wooden needles. i have looked around and can only find metal ones. any advice?
thanks
Sidthespid
Jan 19 2007, 4:52 pm
They have wooden double pointed needles (for knitting in the round) in most of the knitting shops around here. Are you looking specifically for 'normal' needles?
I'm sure that if you asked, one of the stores would be able to order some for you. How is your German?
Failing that, there's plenty of online suppliers.
Good luck!
Elemmaciltur
Jan 19 2007, 6:15 pm
thelbc, go to Wolle Rödel down in Rosental, they also have wooden/bamboo straight needles, if those are what you're looking for. Normally most of the LYS have bamboo dpns, but not straight needles. If you need anymore help just post or PM.
SnBers, hope to see y'all on Sunday!!! I've reserved a table for 6...I'll check tomorrow for the final number, just in case 17 might turn up again. *hopeful*
Sidthespid
Jan 20 2007, 4:28 pm
Stricktor - Are you sure they have the normal needles in wood at Wolle Rödel? I've not noticed them, but then that means nothing

I recently noticed a mole on my neck that has suddenly 'appeared' and then last week I saw a photo of me from about five years ago and it was there, staring back at me from the photo, recent evidence that I'm quite blonde in my bones at times.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Where were all the
SnBers on Sunday?
Laura_K, internataholic? I also haven't seen
C in M for a while now...and
Cathy, too...you should come to this Sunday's SnB!!!
Anyway, here's another FO that I finished:

Started: 23rd December 2006
Finished: 20th January 2007
Yarn: Rohrspatz & Wollmeise Worsted Merino-Lambwool in the colourway "Rhabarber" ("Rhubarb")
Needles: 6 mm/US #10 Inox circs
Pattern: My So Called Scarf from
Sheep in the CityModifications: Instead of a 30-stitch pattern, I reduced it to 28 stitches and add the chain edge (4 stitches in total, so that adds up to 32 stitchs), because I have only one hank of the wool and the scarf's going to be short anyway.
I've actually finished off another UFO today...but can't show it just yet.

Anyway, there were three new gals this past Sunday...and since some of them need yarn and needles, I'm organising another
YARN CRAWL for this coming Friday evening! Here's the preliminary info:
What: Yarn Crawl + Knitting (+ maybe a cuppa or coffee...depends on what happens)

Who: Elemmaciltur,

Hiya,
wont be able to come along on the yarn crawl but will hopefully make it this Sunday. Have started knitting the most ridiculously easy scarf already to get back into the habit - turns out knitting is like riding a bike! Will need more of a challenge next time - all suggestions welcome on Sunday!

Hi guys,
Sorry I've been MIA. It was so nice to see so many people there two or three (?) weeks ago – whenever it was that I was last there. Anyway, this is to say, Elem, I'm sorry I know I told you I was coming tonight but I don't feel well (if you want details it would have to do with worshipping the porceline god (is that spelled right, looks like I'm worshipping a pig) and would someone please knit me something to hold back my hair?). I'm also out of town the next two weekends after this one.
Bleh.
Have fun.
