Hi... I don't knit... well I have in the past but not currently.
My Wife and kids (young adults now) love to knit.
We will be in Munich on 13,14,15 Dec (without kids) and then again on 29,30,31 Dec 9 (with kids).
I would be a real hero if I took them to some really neat wool or needlework shops while we were there.
Could you help me be a hero and suggest any?
Note that the rest of the time we will be in a home (doing a home exchange) a little north of Hannover. So if you know of any of there that would be good too.
Thanks,
Bob Keenan

Hi,
bobkeenan, try
THIS SITE...most of the shops are listed there.
laura_k has a similar listing, but I can't access her site at the moment. Hope you can be a hero!
Aelfwynn, hope to see you this Sunday then!!!
I am managing to come into Munich today as my husband is off work and can collect the kids. Hooray!
I have never looked for wool here before. Does anybody know the best shop specifically for Baby wool ,(pastels) maybe also with unusual textures? I used Snowflake, Sprinkles, Eskimo wool in Scotland. Thanks

g24, Hmmmm...I'd suggest
Wolle Rödel in Rosental (near
Viktualienmarkt...kinda opposite the
Starbucks...or rather the Wall Street Institute there)
This Sunday
26th November, same place, same time (5 p.m.):
Cafe Mondial
Pariser Straße 34
81667 München
Tel: 089-485735
U/S-Bahn: U5 or S-Bahn Ostbanhof, then 5 min. walking
See y'all there!
Hi, Thanks for this. I went here and the lady was very helpful and spoke english. I didn't actually buy any baby wool as there wasn't quite what I was looking for. But I did buy 2 loads of snazzy wool to make a couple of scarves for a change! Was good to see what stock was there.
Can't make this sunday as I have family visiting from Scotland, but maybe next time!!
Thanks for everybody's input!

Hey,
Stitchers!!! If you haven't noticed, the anchor post had been redone. Say thank you to
Editor Bob. He also put in a picture for us...if we like another picture, give me suggestions and I'll forward it.
The Novum is that now we also have a
sign-up sheet. This is to give a guideline to how many people would be turning up on Sundays. So, please, use it!!! (So that I don't get all worked up when people said they were going to show up but didn't show up).
But if you can't log on and want to come on the spur of the moment, just come!As for Wednesday meetings, since it's an irregular event, we'll just organise it over the thread.
Susan, It would be a pleasure to see you this Sunday! When you get to Cafe Mondial, just look to the right, we sit at the corner table at the end of the cafe. Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday!!!
So, who else's coming? Sign up guys!!!

SnBers, great to have met the
two newcomers (Susan, Pam) last Sunday.
I'm not sure whether I would be able to make it this coming Sunday (3rd Dec, i.e. 1st Advent) or not...as I might be in Salzburg. But I'll reserve the table anyway and hopefully someone will be there. Please use the
sign-up sheet if you get a chance to. Hope that there will be a meeting this Sunday.
Susan, Pam, if I can't make it this Sunday, don't fret. I'll be there the Sunday after...with the books, of course! Hopefully there will be somebody there who can show you how to knit!

BTW, has anybody heard anything from
Abra or
Bonnie???
Aelfwynn
Nov 28 2006, 2:21 pm
I almost certainly won't be there this weekend, as we're visiting my husband's parents. But I am absolutely going to be there in two weeks! No more scheduling things that might run into it!

Nov 28 2006, 9:26 pm
Ok, it won't let me edit my last post for some reason. Due to my in-laws' plans changing, I'll be there this week but not next week. My needles and things are still in the states, so I'm going to be embroidering, but I can help with beginning knitting anyway.

So, it doesn't seem like I'd be going to Salzburg this Sunday...so I should be at the SnB: Sunday 3rd December @ Cafe Mondial from 5 p.m.
Looking forward to seeing you guys there!

Hi!
I am just getting to know my way around TT and found your note on the Calendar. I would really like to come along some time and have planned for it on Dec. 17th. I don't knit but do make jewelry and would love some creative company. I'll use the sign up form if I can make it on that Sunday!

Sid, wow, you're still alive? Well, how about making an appearance this Sunday? Last Sunday was such a blast - NOT - what with it was only me for 45 minutes until Chook showed up and we decided to leave and I just headed over to the German SnB. So, you should come this Sunday, or do I need to come with an extra humongous crochet hook to drag you out?

QUOTE (Elemmaciltur @ Dec 12 2006, 10:23 am)

So, you should come this Sunday, or do I need to come with an extra humongous crochet hook to drag you out?
No! Not the humungous crochet hook! If you were a straight guy who fancied fat birds, it could be considered slightly erotic. As it is, you're not, so it's just bordering on being slightly terrifying.
The scarf is lovely, I hope the snow comes soon so that your chappy can fully appreciate it's snug value.
I still havn't braved socks yet. I'm stuck on scarves, bags, miscellaneous square stuff and a cardigan that I started in spring. Oh and now I have Laura K's half-done-socks, which I'm thinking of turning into a tea cosy for my posh tea pot.
btw - I just got my course results for my science thingy - I passed! YaY! So I should come this Sunday and drink lots in celebration

I start the second module soon, which is the psychology bit, so I might need you lot at some point. When other students do their psycho-tests on ex-pat relocation, I'll be researching the effects of cable addiction on ex-pats in smoky bars.
Happy happy joy joy.
What's Mondial like?

Anyway,
SnBers, be there this Sunday, as it probably will be the last SnB for this year! (Next week is Christmas Eve and the week after that is Sylvester)...so if you miss this, it'll be the next year when we see each other again...that is, if we don't make an impromptu SnB during the week sometimes between 2006-2007
I'll try call in
TalkstoStrangers too...she hasn't been showing up there for a while now and it would be nice to have all of us there again.

See y'all this Sunday!

Jan 3 2007, 2:19 pm
I got something crawling across the screen, but when I clicked on ok it disappeared. Aha! Twas you! Something about me being unemployed? Sounds so manky. Like I'm scavving off the german tax payers or summink. I'm not unemployed! I'm a desperate housewife! Okay, with a fatter arse and pasty English complexion, but desperate and housewifey nonetheless. I can prove it, I crafted home made cornish pasties the other day and they were yummy. Then again, I am mank, as I love car booties. Oh sod it then, I confess, I'm just lazy. Oh oh oh actually I forgot, I'm not unemployed - I'm a student! So there.
I'm on the internet because... er... I'm doing research. Yes, that's it, research. Into something or other, very important of course. Oh and I had to email my sister, who doesn't have LJ.
Wilkommen bei Bayern!

Sid, any chance that you're drunk?

You're coming this Sunday!! Yay!
BTW,
SnBers, apparently a newspaper had written about us back in late 2006...possibly it was the SZ (either December or November - I went and flicked through all December SZ but found nothing).. I just got this information from the lady at Wollkorb at
Sendlinger Tor. She's going to get me a copy of the article, so hopefully, you might get to see it this Sunday. Did any of you know anything about this article at all???
Sidthespid
Jan 3 2007, 4:32 pm
Me? Drunk? You've been listening to those rumours again
Article? Newspaper? Wtf? How bad does business have to be, that they take interest in a knitting group? Are we
really that fascinating? That glam? That spankingly desirable?
Perhaps they wrote about some archaic rules that we might be breaking. Ooh I want to see it, bring, bring, bring! I'll say one thing though, if they've even so much as mentioned a toilet complaint, I'll sue!
