For anyone talented enough they are calling for submissions for new SnB Book of Men's Patterns:
QUOTE
Hey everyone-
I'm working on another book, and this one's going to be full of knit and crochet projects for men (and boys). I've already got a bunch of fab stuff together, but I still need a few more submissions. I'm looking for socks, gloves, hats, scarves, sweaters, bags, and anything else you can think of. If you've got something you'd like to contribute, please send an email to stitchnbitch@bust.com by November 3rd (or before) You may send photos of completed items, or sketches of items you're proposing along with a photo of a (large) swatch knit or crocheted in the manner that you'd like to do the project. YOu don't have to try and get an entire sweater done by November 3rd, so don't sweat it. If I am able to include your project, you will be paid for your pattern and provided with all the yarn you need to work up a sample for the book.
I'm looking for stuff that men will actually wear or use, so if you're female and you've got an idea, run it past a person of the male persuasion and get their input before sending it off. I want to put an end to the curse of the boyfriend sweater, with a book full of boy-tested, boy-approved projects. Male stitchers are particuarly invited to contribute!
Questions? Feel free to email me: stitchnbitch@bust.com.
Thanks everyone!

Was nice to get together again on Sunday. Say, do we want to meet up tomorrow? Now that
Bonnie's back in town for the while. However, I don't think I'd be able to make it tomorrow, but I just want to give you guys a nudge about meeting up regularly again.
As for the coming Sunday 29th October, who's coming? I'm going to reserve a table for 6-8 persons again at Cafe Mondial.
Of course, all new comers and returners are welcome!Oh, and
Hint, hint,
laura_k's bday's coming up! So we have an excuse to get drunk at SnB this Sunday...although coming to think of it, we don't really ever need an excuse anyway.

YAY i am gonna be even older.
Carrie has offered her flat for tomorrow. Ok, I bullied her into it. But it's her own fault for um.. having a flat.
We all have to think up illegal stories to tell Simone for next Sunday.

Cool! I might be able to come for a bit, we'll see. I'll try telling the others (Abra, Bonnie, Talktostranger) about it...unless you've already done that, laura_k

Anyway, if you want to hang out or go and get a needle give me a ring! I'd love to meet up!

Yeah, well, that's what happens when you write something in your sickness-induced state.
So, who's coming this Sunday? I might be coming a bit later, because I want to pop in to say hello to the German group beforehand.

Hi all,
I want to make myself an evening gown of sorts for a party I'm going to in beginning of February. I don't have a sewing machine here in Munich and I was wondering if there would be any sewing machine owners among the SnB who would be willing to loan their machine or help me in the sewing project in general? I could pay you some for the use of the machine or your help. I can't make it this Sunday but I'll try to come another time to meet you in person.
The reason I'm making the dress myself is that I have this incredibly pretty silk fabric from Thailand and I'd love to have something nice made out of it.
Elemmaciltur
Oct 27 2006, 10:28 pm
PaulaJ, as far as I know, I don't think any of us in the SnB group has a sewing machine...but well, I could be wrong.

I'm having Stitch and Bitch at my house today! As long as nobody cares. I wanted to make risotto but the shops are closed today, oops! Think I'll make pasta instead. Starting at 5.
I don't reckon anyone will come but if anybody's particularly bored come on over. Maybe try and post if you know you're coming so I can know how much to cook.

What black thing? I'm going to try getting rid of some UFOs before I start on my new sweater. Bringing 2 scarves to work on today.
laura_k
Nov 5 2006, 3:09 pm
I don't know it's just kind of black. It might be socks. I'll see if it'll fit on my feet. I don't really need any socks though.
heres my scarf, but i've run out of pink so i've got to stop till i get more

Laura_k, it's either one of these (I have the yarn in the colour of the one on the right):

Which ones should I make??
laura_k
Nov 5 2006, 3:42 pm
Crikey they all look hard. of the jumpers i like the pattern of the one on the left best. I hope the horses come free once you've finished.
Of the other two i'm not sure. Haven't you already got one like the one on the right?
Do you think this looks too hard

Elemmaciltur
Nov 5 2006, 3:44 pm
No, that doesn't look too hard...actually it's pretty simple enough..although I don't really like those hanging bits.
laura_k
Nov 5 2006, 3:46 pm
do you think it's part of the pattern? i thought it was a mistake. though good point, they'd not photograph it with mistakes eh.
the top's from stitch and bitch nation apparently. who's got that, anyone?
laura_k
Nov 5 2006, 3:51 pm
how do we change the info from preysinggarten to cafe mondial? can i do it myself?
Elemmaciltur
Nov 5 2006, 3:53 pm
I reckon that it's part of the pattern...and if it's really from SnB nation, I wouldn't be surprised at all.
Personally, I'd leave the dangly bits out.
C_in_Märchenland
Nov 5 2006, 4:02 pm
yup I'm in the tubes now. yey. which has meant I've been spending a lot of time watching my fave new guilty pleasure grey's anatomy. see you in a bit. will be a little late cause I still have to shower...
laura_k
Nov 5 2006, 4:09 pm
omg Grey's is so good. I think it's my favourite at the moment since gilmore girls is so rubbish this series. I especially like that the actors keep having slap-fights on set. So say the high-brow newspapers i read anyway.
Elemetrial, chance would be a fine thing! let's see me start it first..

Nov 5 2006, 4:16 pm

Might be a tad late in coming, too, since we're still watching telly here. :-p But I'll see you all in a bit!

I've got it, almost sold it to

I told
C_in_Märchenland about that
handicraft fair in Munich next weekend (10.-12. November). It's at the MOC fairgrounds near
Kieferngarten (that's along the
U6, I think). I went to this fair two years ago; they have all sorts of hobby and handicraft stuff, like model railways and boats, candle making, felting, knitting, crochet, spinning, quilting... you name it. Don't know if that website has information in English though. Admission is 5-7 Euros. The fair is on Fri-Sun, 10-6.

They're in boxes in the states still, but I have to focus on sewing the baby-quilt for my sister-in-law before going back to knitting anyway.
Speaking of wool, what're the best places to go looking for it in Munich?
laura_k
Nov 13 2006, 7:11 pm
a few of them are listed here

Aelfwynn, hope to see you this Sunday!
Apropos, I've already reserved a table for us for
this coming Sunday 19th November at Cafe Mondial, as usual!
For those of you wishing to learn how to make a pair of
Kolenyas, see if we could get together for a bit this Saturday, so that we could go get some yarn and needles. If we can't get together, here's what you will need:
- 1 Skein Noro Kureyon of your colour choice
- 1 set of 3.5 mm dpns (double pointed needles or Nadelspiel in German) or if you're adept with 2 circs method or magic loop, you can use those, but I don't know how to work with those yet
- 2 stitch markers (or some waste threads make into loops)
- Waste yarn
- Darning needle
- 1 crochet hook 3.5/4 mm (optional)
Aelfwynn
Nov 15 2006, 9:12 am
What time on Sunday, 5pm?
Also, what are Kolenyas?
Elemmaciltur
Nov 15 2006, 11:18 am
Aelfwynn, yup, 5 p.m. as usual.
Kolenyas are the fingerless mittens knitted from one skein of Noro Kureyon that I had been making, e.g.
