West Side Story - April 30th - 15th June 2004

The West Side Story is playing at the Deutsches Theater from April 30th to the 15th of June.
3 Lions, myself, DrivinWest and another friend of mine would like to go. We were wondering if anyone else is interested in going. We were thinking of getting tickets for a show in May.
Haven't looked much into the exact details yet. Just asking for people interested first and then we can work out if is it feasible to get a group of seats together or not.

i think i was once laughed at when posting my interests in musicals, but that was looooong ago. i'm always visiting the deutsches theatre. seen grease, hair, oh what a night! just recently.

something i learned from koala is that with the MVV (Stadtwerke) you can get a discount on tixs. she and i already talked about going. no date has been set yet though, but we could surely try to combine our dates.

Happens to me often, but I was brought up on these things. I never had a choice of what I could watch or listen to. Though I must say I loved WST from the first moment I watched it, absolutely superb.

Dont suppose anyones got 'Calamity Jane' on DVD at all

If you are still interested in that, i won't be going to the Deutsches Theater but to the Floating Stage in Bregenz at Lake Constance. Bregenz (Austria) is situated just next to Lindau, so very easily to reach. It is an unforgettable event, just beautiful. This year they also show the West Side Story.
Definitely recommend it.

They also do a students nights, which is the main rehearsal and you can get very cheap tickets for that. Usually the rehearsal will not be interupted.

I love musicals! Last one I saw was singing in the rain and it was great! When is this on? Can I come along?? Is it in German???

It is sung in English. I know the girl who worked with the director on a previous version of the show couldn't do it again this time so they got someone else. Hear it is great!
btw. it is based on Romeo and Juliet

I saw this show Saturday evening and was well impressed and can thoroughly recommend it.

Three tips:

1) Don't reserve tickets in advance, get them on the evening at the abend kasse so that you can get any ticket discounts that might be offered.
2) If you have a student ID card (Open University or similar) show this before paying as it will save 20 Euro per ticket.
3) As the Deutsche Theatre is rarely sold-out buy cheaper tickets then check out the better empty seats in front of you and switch seats; everyone does it! voila another 20 Euro per ticket saved.
