back to the dog. i promise that i willl elevate my level of postings as the weeks pass, however would like to know any dog friendly spots that you folks might know. we just had lunch at cafe voila in haidhausen where my lab henry behaved magnificently. how can you tell which place is dog friendly and which isn't? not quite ready for a chewing out by an intolerant-of-dogs restaurant owner! thanks.

I think pretty much everywhere is dog friendly so long as he's well behaved. Dogs get much more acceptance here than children do. So long as there's no Doggie-Do.

keydeck is right. I think people here love their dogs more than their children.

Yeah I see dogs everywhere here. Bars, restaurants, pubs, U-Bahn, in old women's handbags...

I believe any place that does not have a picture of the terrier with the red line through it is fair game.
@BigC - are you calling me an old woman???!!! why I oughta...

unlike me to be controversial, but if you're gonna ban smoking in pubs etc..you should ban dogs too surely.
or maybe thats the plan, use the superfluous ash trays for dog shit.
just an idea.

Flogger, why? Do you think that non-dog owners might be affected by 2nd hand dogginess and want to go out and get a pouch of their own?

and as an aside - in the UK I believe it's illegal to take dogs in to restaurants, and probably technically pubs too, thanks to health and safety regs - and to be honest I agree. I love dogs, but I don't like eating with 'em about...

You might wanna avoid chow time in Günthers on Saturday then. Jake can be very persistant when he wants to be.

Up north its usually acceptable for dogs to be in the boozer on an afternoon. Usually the guys use the old 'Just taking the dog for a walk excuse' to get down the pub.

@Keydeck - Don't I know it - the little bastard does all but climb on the table and just eat it right from under your nose - tho I haven't seen Jake in a while actually.

But up North it's also acceptable to have sexual relations with your mother - it's all a matter of taste I suppose.

poor potterstreet. one of her first posts, and here we've managed to bring it back home to the same old subject in record time. well done! now, if we can work in an argument about American politics, the U-bahn police, and ladies mudwrestling...
@potterstreet: don't worry. we're a nice bunch that enjoy a good rant on a rainy day...

I must admit Butterbean, I don't follow your logic here - what do you mean? The same old subject being what? It's pretty much all on topic bar a couple of jokes I think...

not in any way intended as a criticism Jimbo. I actually think it's funny that it seems we can work pubs in either Ireland or northern England into most threads. Sometimes it can throw a newcomer off though.

Oh, I see - pubs - well, yeah. They do crop up a wee bit on TT, it has to be said. But the average TT'er spends more time in the pub than in the office these days... When I first started on this site way back in October the going out thing wasn't that common, and now it's rare for there not to be something to do, especially on the weekends... I would be interested to see how the demographic has changed over that time...
Anyway - the upshot is this, most places will tolerate dogs, but I think it's fair to say, any flash venues won't, and any trouble from Pooch and he (or she) is out quick smart.
