When football fans from all over the world visit Europe to watch the world cup matches, will the hotel prices be higher ? Will there be more crowds than usual in the nearby tourist centres such as Venice, Paris, Salzburg ?
I had a terrible time finding a hotel in Munich during the Oktoberfest.
I have to advice friends about when to avoid the peak tourist season during the summer months in Germany and nearby countries. They are NOT dying to watch the football matches.
When are the matches to be held here in Munich ?

finding a hotel in Munich at Oktoberfest is a hopeless task unless you want to pay silly money. During all the major exhibitions the hotels also hike their rates by 15-25%. For the World Cup I would doubt that any country other than Germany would be affected.
