I was wondering if folks could give some tips on traveling to fun spots with kids particularly near Strassbourg and or Zurich. Has anyone taken kids to these places? Do you have fun sites to see? I know there are lots of outdoor parks but that won't really work for the winter. We are not skiers and my kids are little 3,3, and 6. THanks.

I have 2 little kids, ages 6 & 7. We went last summer to Lake Constance (Bodensee) for 2 weeks. We bought the Bodensee Card which gives you free or discounted entrance to tons of museums, swimming pools, castles, bergbahns, ski lifts, and all the ferry ships across the lake. It includes things in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. There are some nice things not too far from Zurich. We stayed in a holiday house and drove to different, exciting places everyday. We had a great time. Here's a link (sorry it's in German) http://www.bodenseeferien.de/themen/?bid=15

Try www.kinderreisewelt.de, not sure how much English they speak but they specialize in Kidplaces. Also, there is Kinderhotels (Ithink .de but a sarch should turn them up), they give you strollers, babyfood, childcare, babyfone etc. if in somewhat remote locations we tried their Berghotel in the Allgaeu once with a not-quite-one-year-old and it's not bad...

Recently arrived in Munich. Want to make the most of living in Southern Europe. I am looking for recommendations for family friendly holiday destinations. We have 3.5 and 1.5 year old - so need to cater to younger crowd (thinking beach, but open to suggestions).

We were thinking of driving to Croatia but have heard Sea Urchins and Jellyfish are a real problem. Any recommendations on family friendly destinations (preferably something we can drive to) would be greatly appreciated. Thinking late July/early August.

Thanks.

It's true that Munich likes to bill itself as "Italy's northernmost city", but Germany is not exactly part of Southern Europe.

i had friends with kids that would go to Gardasee (north italy). There were either houses you could rent down there, and there were also holiday family farms...

Thanks for the suggestion. Thanks also "Verbatim" for the Geography lesson unsure.gif ? I meant Southern Europe in a relative sense. Thanks for correcting me - any useful suggestions rolleyes.gif ?

The usual nightmare of planning the summer holiday. We have 2 young kids (2 / 4) and are looking for something in Europe with good outdoor activities including some for kids, childcare - ideally even reachable by car from Munich (max 6 hours).

Ideas...

Have you tried using the search function?

Are you looking for a family holiday or one where the whole family can go to and you want to be able to shove the kids off into daycare? Are the activities for you or for the kids. Your post is ambiguous.
