Here's the story: my office is in Germering (FFB). Next week we have two people from Israel visiting and my bosses want to take them to dinner in Augsburg (which is too far away for my tastes). So I have to make a counter-proposal for a place in the vicinity, since I don't think they'd like to go inside Munich.

Does anybody know of any nice, preferably traditional Bavarian restaurants around Starnberger See or Ammersee?

Thanks!

"Die Starnberger Alm" in Starnberg used to be a top class bavarian restaurant. Traditional food on highest standards, the interiour is traditional, prices above the standard, but worth it. Haven't been there in ages so I don't know about the cuisine right now... also a few years ago you needed to make reservations or you had no chance with more than two people...

There's a few good places @ the lakes! Can't really do something wrong out there! smile.gif

Trad Bavarian Hotel/Restaurant in Herrsching right on the lake (well, right next to it anyway). Think it's called The Seehof. Good food, location etc. with parking next to it.

I'd also recommend the Seehof. Lovely food with a perfect view at sunset.

But my experience with all of these restaurants are at minimum 10 years old. No clue how if there are still good nowadays.

I can only recommend this:
Gasthof Eberhardt in Eching am Ammersee

has won several awards for excellent traditional bavarian cuisine over the last years!

Konigs wasser here in Starnberg is nice... good atmosphere, great food, resonable price and on most nights they have a pianist come in and play, sometimes a sax too

We went to the Seehaus Schreyegg in Stegen am Ammersee Monday evening. Apart from our group of ten, there was just one table occupied during the two and a half hours we were there. Everybody agreed that the food was really good, but then, most people had the same safe dish - a wiener schnitzel. The restaurant itself has a classy look, and the lounge downstairs looked cool, but was empty too. Bottom line: good food, no atmosphere, but maybe it's just a Monday thing.

Thanks again for all the tips!

Just added a review for Alte Linde a few minutes south of Starnberg. It is in the Munich section as it is close enough to drive and there isn't a section for Starnberg. One word: AWESOME!
