There are no large cities in the area. Towns include those listed by Darkknight, plus Bregenz (in Switzerland). The nearest city is Zürich, also in Switzerland and about a 90-minute train journey from the town of Constance.
The best place for international companies is, I believe, Constance (Konstanz).

FYI, Sankt Gallen and Schaffhausen are in Switzerland, Bregenz in Austria.

Lindau - I only know the auto supplier companies, but Continental and SiemensVDO are both there. I know a guy from that area and he says it's popular with start-ups but I'm not so sure about big companies.

Vorarlberg
Guess I'm being pedantic, but Vorarlberg is not a city, it's a province of Austria.
The largest city in Vorarlberg is Bregenz.

Isn't Lindau, on KoenigSee... OP asked for Bodensee

Wizadora is correct, Lindau is a town on Bodensee and has unfairly been overlooked by all of us, as it's certainly one of the most beautiful. Not sure it's all that international though.
Kay, you're right, Bregenz is in Austria. In my defence, I can only say that it's within a few miles of Switzerland! (I think the Rhein is the border.)
Königssee is in Berchtesgaden in the SE corner of Germany. The only settlement on Königssee is Schönau, which has a permanent population of about 7. Plus 10,000 tourists.
I like Bodensee

Isn`t the Zeppelin Company near Lindau? Yes those buggers that bombed London in WWI, still going strong.

Yep, 20kms or so up the road in Friedrichshafen. It's common to see zeppelins over the lake, you can pay to take a ride; see here:
