There has been
some talk of late about starting and running a Web-based company here in Germany.
Johnny English has a number and
jayhay runs one as well. What other TTers are in business thanks to the Web?

As a software developer that mainly programs for the web, then I guess I make my cash out of it.

I do freelance proofreading/translating and get most my new customers through Google Adwords. Not sure if that counts as an internet business, but I voted 'yes' anyway.

I think the poll choices are a bit restricted. If you are a NO for any reason you can only vote:
"No plans, no desire. There is better money to be made. "
So "No plans" is fair enough but making them all vote for "there is better money to be made" is probably twisting people's opinions a bit far!

And where's the 'Yes, but NOT making a comfortable living' option?? Not that I'm saying I needed that option...
Isn't this the same?
I am trying, and drinking cheap beer until I have my first sale.

When you enter a search term, you will often see adverts at the top and to the right of the results. Businesses pay to have these search-related adverts there. The advertisers pay per click on the link. It's a good tool if your webpage would otherwise show up on page 67 of the results. If you want to help impede Google's world domination, don't click on the link - type the address into your address bar instead.
For me, it's simply a tool to attract people who are looking for the service that I offer. I select which search terms will cause my advert to appear.

All of it. Even my regular customers first found me through Google Adwords.
It's not only on Google that the ads are displayed; on other websites you'll often see "Adverts by Google". Those are all Adwords ads, and are supposedly relevant to the subject of the website.

Man, i'm so doing that then! I didnt think it would actually have any effect. I'll have to update my websites and try to get more freelance work. How long have you been doing it? do you like it?

Been freelancing for a year. Yeah, I enjoy it. I work from home, which I like. I like not having rigid 9-5 hours, although I can see the advantages in that sometimes!
Are you a translator?
