Toytowners new year reunion / new members meet-up

Toytown Germany > Discussion forum > South Germany > Munich > Events in Munich
Malcolm Spudbury
It's the 3rd week of the new year already, so I reckon it's about time we got together again for a few drinks and maybe meet some of the newer Toytowners who aren't afraid to show their faces in public.

Friday evening, Ned's, around 7 or 8, then on to Bondi or somewhere else later.

Reply here if you're up for it.
don_riina
I would quite like to go out some evening - I have been here in Munich for about 10 months now, and apart from the missus, do not know one person. Sadly, I don't know where Neds is, and have got to mess about picking up a friend from England at the airport on friday. Boooooo. Is this Neds place quite good then? I'd quite like just to hear some (native) english speakers. My current social life is pretty much just beer and TV.
AquaticMeringue
I'll be there, of course. I need a good beer session...
pootle
Shit, why friday! Friday is ice hockey night!!! sad.gif

What time you all gonna be in Neds until???

Arse!

Don:
Ned's is on Frauenplatz, in the cellar under the shops. The platz is behind the Frauenkirche about a minute's walk from Marienplatz. Kilian's Irish bar is next door.

Pootle:
Not sure what time we'll be in Ned's until. I'd quite like to go to Bondi at some point, since I haven't been there yet - I only suggested meeting at Ned's because most people know where it is.

However, if the session is anything like the last one, we'll most likely be there till they kick us out at closing time.
Granny
I'd love to meet you all but I think I'm too old and will cramp your style. Anyway, I have a black eye at the moment as a log fell on me when I was chopping wood for the fire. If that wasn't enough, I sliced my index finger and thumb open. My immediate reaction was to use the snow for both injuries but it looks as though the chain-saw massacre happened here.
 Even the most compassionate, wouldn't want me sitting next to them.
Have a great time!
randy
Don't you think it's fully appropriate for don_riina to host and cook a weekly 3 to 7 course meal for the Toytown crowd? After all, he is a significant contributer to the community; and his recipes sound delicious.

And shouldn't isaak be the designated cool american car driver; shuttling the rest of us poor slobs from bar to bar (particularly since they've decided to shut down the farkin' S-Bahn line through the middle of town)?
Noddy
Granny - you couldn't cramp Spud's style, he hasn't got any. Mind you, at least not going will mean that Aquatic won't drool down your cleavage, so at least you will save yourself from that.

I was thinking of going, but I think I've just given myself a very good reason not to smile.gif (Actually chaps, and chapesses, the 24th would be better for me as SWMBO is out that night anyway. Any chance of putting it off until then?).
Granny
Noddy, since gravity has taken it's toll, he would need to look up , not down! Unless of course I'm wearing my trendy, "over shoulder boulder holder!" Yuk.

No, but I'm sure we can manage to go out and do it all over again next week...

What does SWMBO stand for?
koala
Malc,

SWMBO - she who must be obeyed.
AquaticMeringue
Ahhhhh! Well that certainly explains Noddy's taste in sweaters...
Noddy
Sweaters?!? Jeez, you haven't even taken the mick out of the bell on my hat yet, how can you complain about my sweaters? Which reminds me, I haven't seen my red and yellow striped number recently, I'll try and dig it out for next Friday, okay?
AquaticMeringue
Apparently the Bondi bar has some live music or something going on tonight, so it's likely to be packed. As such, we're probably just going to stay in Neds. I plan to be there at 7pm (so that I can get a seat before the hordes turn up). In you've not met me already, there is a picture of me on this forums under the "Toytown Munich Party - Thursday 29th August, 2002" section:

http://toymu.com/tt/viewtopic.php?t=42

I'm the bloke in the first picture, in the bottom right. I wasn't really trying to drink the beer through my nose, it's just the way the picture looks.

Oh, and I'll also be dressed completely in black for a change.

Hope to see some of you there.
AquaticMeringue
I can't believe none of you turned up (except Malcolm, obviously). You bunch of slackers.
kathie
I couldn't make it - had to work! I really want to meet up with you guys though - can we organise something a bit further in advance? Then I know that I can't work that night...
AquaticMeringue
Well Sezie should be back in Munich in February, so maybe we should organise something then. Mondays and Wednesdays are bad for me, but apart from that I'm fairly easy.

There was also some talk of another Toytown party, but I've not heard any more about it for a while. Anyone know anything about it?
kathie
Yup, it was meant to be at the end of Jan (thurs 30th if I'm not mistaken) but apparently it was cancelled cause they couldn't find a suitable venue now UKonStay has closed down. That's what Koala told me anyway.
Showem
Well obviously the most suitable venue is now whomever has the most floor space to offer in their flat.

I'm sure all those contract people, living on expenses and in big, half-furnished flats are just waiting for an excuse to host a party.

I checked the old cellphone on Sunday and got the message from Friday about Ned's. Sorry I missed it. Wasn't it somebody's birthday celebration?

I know of somebody with quite the sound system in his spacious flat that would work for a Toytown party...I'll bring my latest Timo Maas cd.

GOd I wish I was one of those contract people, would solve all my house hunting problems!

Can we have some more notice of the drinkup, or wait until the ice hockey season is over??

Do I know this person, Hoddy? I know someone like this. But unfortunately he's had no spare time or money recently to buy vinyl and practice some mixes.
hoddysded
I think you might have seen him around town a few times Bob. He's known to be out lurking in our fair city scoping out new restaurants or staging grounds for ridiculous hi-jinks.

I'd throw in a a few bucks or 20 for the cause.
sezie
I slipped back into the country today (yesterday??) and am jet-lagged as all hell. Looking forward to catching up with you guys soon!
Am needing a nice German beer biggrin.gif
AquaticMeringue
Welcome back smile.gif
Elfenstar
any news yet on the next Toytown party/get-together on a grand-scale event? if so, i will definitely take a day off from work to be there (if it's on a thursday). i'm hoping this time i will show up at the right gate. man that sucked. i was really depressed the whole day. sad.gif
AquaticMeringue
How about Friday 28th February - the last day of the month? Could do the Thursday instead I suppose, but I generally dislike going to work with a hangover.
Elfenstar
you're right if there is a grand meeting on a friday, not a party, then i am up for that too. who likes to go to work hung-over. so i'll just leave it all out there and keep checking up on the progress of this get-together. unfortuntely i am booked out on the weekends until mid-march. but i might make it to munich next weekend (21st).

on v-times day, have to work late. sad.gif i'll be with y'all in spirit. hoddy, drink one on me.
AquaticMeringue
So, who else is up for a boozing session on Friday 28th February?
